Sorry but I don't understand radiohead 's huge popularity. The Bends And ok computer were great records but just about everything since then seems awfully boring and uninspired to me. This new song included. I couldn't imagine going to see these guys live and listening to this. Unless it was in an opera house and everyone was in a suit and tie and everyone gave a golf clap. No energy in this song at all! To each their own I guess.

To each his own for sure. But I think it's more a case of their music inspires you less than it is of their post OKC output being uninspired. The general consensus is they have made their best music post those 2 albums.

I suspect you prefer rock Radiohead to the RH with more electronic leanings and that's fine, but the 5 albums they have made post OKC have worked incredibly well live for the past 15 years.

Apparently that was on purpose - an homage to the film.

Yeah, I like it a lot too. Dark. Looking forward to this album. Not sure if an album release date has been announced yet... anyone? I gather that the single only is available to buy tomorrow, but what about the rest of the album?

They haven't announced anything about the album. Title, tracks, date. Nothing. Just this.

Kinda weird. they haven't done a pre-release single since HTTT. Surprised that it looks like the traditional route here.

Maybe they'll post a countdown clock.

The Nic Cage film is a remake of a 1973 film.

I didn't even know that. I know what I'm watching tonight, thanks! ;) (I did think it was slightly weird that Radiohead would make a video in homage of a Nicholas Cage movie, hahaha).

Pitchfork is having a circle jerk over this.

Yeesh...Talk about projecting your own viewpoints onto someone else's work:

That is the point of their "Pitch" section. It's just a place for some longer form writing from contributors.

I don't see anything egregious in the piece. Radioheads politics are pretty well known. I don't think his assumptions are that off base.

I don't have any issue with the article's content. But the narrative comes across as though the song's interpretation is fact and straight from Yorke rather than something based off of the writer's own speculations and assumptions.
