I used to love DMB just as much, and for a long time more than PJ. Now it's the opposite, love PJ so much more. DMB disappointed me big time, I've never been disappointed by PJ.

Since no one's mentioned the Greatest Band in the World yet...the Who. Them, Pearl Jam, and Springsteen are my unassailable Holy Trinity; Springsteen's generally 1c, although having seen him twice in the past couple weeks he's pushing hard for the top two, but generally it's between Pearl Jam and the Who for my favourite band status. The Who's the only band that's ever made me cry--and Quadrophenia's my favourite record ever, so when pushed I'll usually name them as my favourite band as well. But I've seen Pearl Jam way more than anyone else, and that won't change even after two Who concerts in the next few weeks.
seeing the who for the 4th time two weeks from tonight!!!!!
I was a Beatlemaniac back in the 60s. I was lucky enough to have seen them 3x, and many times throughout their solo careers. I never thought I'd like another band more than them, but then PJ came along.
holy cow that's awesome that you saw the fab four on three different occasions!! where did you see the beatles play? how were they live?

I saw them in Forest Hill in '64, and Shea in '65 & '66. This is about the only advantage of being old, I can't tell you how they were live, you could only hear the fans screaming. The electricity was amazing though. They were on stage for about 1/2 hour, and the tickets cost $5!
I also saw John, Paul, and George's solo shows in MSG and Ringo at the Beacon.
Besides influencing PJ, there's another similarity between the bands in that our children are brought up with the music and they in turn become fans. There aren't many musicians who have this staying power with new generations of fans!
I escaped it...a life wasted...I'm never going back again
Ever since PJ took over for the 80's hair bands (haha).....they have been#1. My other top bands have been The Foos, Tool, Rage and Alter Bridge. Most recently Royal Blood and Slash are very close to the top. I'd see these guys anywhere within an hour or two radius if possible....but I'd go anywhere for PJ. As much as I like these other bands, I'm usually wishing I was at a PJ show.
I still get the chills just thinking about the moment at a PJ show where the lights first go down.
On the flip side, I cannot enjoy YL anymore since it signals the end of the show.
my top tier is probably Pearl Jam, Springsteen, Tom Waits and Wilco. I also love Radiohead, Arcade Fire, My Morning Jacket and believe it or not... The Counting Crows. There are many others of course.
Ive been a giant music fan my entire life and at first thought "oh I'm as big a fan as other bands as I am Pearl Jam". I Have hundreds of records, thousands of CDs, and 134GB in my iTunes and listen to a very wide variety of music. But then I realized... nothing compares to PJ for me. I absolutely love certain bands and certain records over the history of music but its something different about Pearl Jam. As i read this thread and thought about other music I love, it hit me that PJ is above all for me because of the following... 1. I can't name every band member + past member + detailed history of any other artists 2. I can't name every single song on every single studio release of anyone else 3. I don't even know all the song titles on some of my absolute favorite records of all time except PJ 4. PJ is the only band when a tour is announced that I will travel just to catch one show (or more) 5. PJ is the only band I've seen more than twice on the same tour (especially back to back nights)
Im sure i could come up with more reasons but this sums up a lot for me.

Nah there's a pretty big gap between how much I like PJ and then other rock bands. I've seen PJ over 20 times now. Other than the local punk band (Daylgo Abortions) there's no other band I've seen near that often. Soundgarden, Foo Fighters, U2, Metallica I've seen all around 4 or 5 times each. I listen to a lot of Zeppelin though but I never had the chance to see them.
I was hoping to read some comments about what the thread was ACTUALLY about, but it's just a bunch of "PJ is number 1 but I also like.." haha. Curious to hear if there's 10c members who like other bands as much or more. I think everyone is too afraid of public shaming to post those in here though, or maybe PJ truly is EVERY 10c members favourite band?

A fan in CA said it best - Pearl Jam has ruined all other bands. Everytime I listen to something else. It's nice. But its not Pearl Jam. And then go back directly to Pearl Jam.
There are other bands that could be ranked up their with Pearl Jam if they were still touring with their original line-ups... Sublime, Blind Melon, Beastie Boys, RATM... and a more modern act that I have travelled within NC and SC to see play on multiple nights is Mike Pinto (BAND).

I go through phases with other bands but they come and go. Pearl Jam never goes.
I've gone through phases also, where I collect everything I can find. Videos, bootlegs, etc. Zeppelin when I was in HS, DMB at some point, Floyd, but PJ is definitely the mainstay.
