I was hoping to read some comments about what the thread was ACTUALLY about, but it's just a bunch of "PJ is number 1 but I also like.." haha. Curious to hear if there's 10c members who like other bands as much or more. I think everyone is too afraid of public shaming to post those in here though, or maybe PJ truly is EVERY 10c members favourite band?

my other top 6 that i love equally:
    Neil Young
    John Lennon
    Wilco
    The Smashing Pumpkins
    REM
    Bob Dylan

if you forced me to pick then it would be ..............REM!!!!

i like REM more than PJ and I assure you that I have been shamed for this by my friends.
prob like Dylan/Lennon and Young more as well.
Good to see someone be honest haha. I would assume most people here have PJ as #1 but it's interesting to see some people who still love the band and tour for their shows, etc but simply like another band a bit more.

    I'll travel ANYWHERE to see...
    Band Of Horses
    Beck
    My Morning Jacket
    Pearl Jam
Will travel 2-4 hours to see:
    Bon Iver
    Chris Cornell
    Faith No More
    Glen Hansard
    Minus The Bear
    The National
    Wilco

    OK...you asked!!
The top 4 acts on my list above are all INCREDIBLE...
    but if I'm being honest,
I'd have to say My Morning Jacket is currently a bit ahead of Pearl Jam for me.
Just like PJ...I know their history and all of the members of the band.
I can tell you which songs are on which studio albums...
and have just as many bootlegs of their shows as I do for PJ,
even though they don't release every show!
The fan-base for both groups are very similar...
and MANY people discovered MMJ when they opened for PJ!!
I WILL travel (and HAVE) anywhere to see them!!
When their tour dates are announced,
I go thru the same planning process I do when planning my "PJ tour."
I saw 9 shows on their tour last year,
including back to back shows in Detroit, Columbus & Minneapolis.
    During these 2 night runs..
they NEVER played a repeat song,
    and in my opinion...
they mix up their setlists way more than Pearl Jam do at this point.
MMJ didn't open practically every show the past few tours with the same song,
nor did they close their sets (other than One Big Holiday...which is MMJ's Yellow Ledbetter) with the same 3 or 4 songs like Pearl Jam do.

I've also traveled pretty far to see Band of Horses...
and was able to attend their 2 night run of shows at The Ryman.
Each night started off with an acoustic set that was later released on their "Acoustic At The Ryman" album.
Again...I know their history and all of the members of the band.
I've even been able to hang out with Ben & Tyler after their most recent show here in Columbus.
I can tell you which songs are on which studio albums...
and even though they don't release any boots,
I have a couple of really good audience recordings!!
I've also been able to attend solo shows of each band's lead singer...
    3 - EV / 2 - Ben Bridwell of BOH / 1 - Jim James of MMJ...
Ed wins this "contest" hands down!!
Beck shows are a completely different animal,
BUT you'll never see a group of guys having more fun on stage than Beck & his band!!
They are in my top tier, but not really a contender for the top spot.
    With all that being said,
I will probably always consider PJ my #1 band...
but the competition has gotten tougher,
and both MMJ & BOH are very talented acts...
who learned many of the things that make them such AMAZING performers
when they were on the road, opening for Pearl Jam!!

I tried to win the Roll Call contest for tickets to their album release show in Louisville...
seeing a MMJ show in Louisville is on my "bucket list"
Louisville is MMJ's hometown...and mine too, that's why I'm derbydave
I've never been able to attend a show there and I was super bummed when they announced their 2-night run at Iroquois Park in May, because wouldn't you know these shows would be scheduled the night after PJ's shows in Toronto!!
Maybe I'll get my "hometown" show next year!! :anguished:

Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Nirvana. Of those 3 I only saw Floyd live (in '94), was too young for the Zep, and missed Nirvana.
In terms of currently active bands, it's PJ with a strong nod to anything Slash does, lol.

Oh Darth...The Division Bell Tour was truly amazing. My favorite concert ever was Pink Floyd, then Pearl Jam on the last day in the Philly Spectrum in 2009....Devo and then Bugs! Awesome! Then the Allman Brothers at some point in the late 90's.

I never thought of that but he's up there with musicians I've seen the most. I think I've seen 5 soundgarden shows, 1 Audioslave show, and about 5 solo shows now.... He might be the next under PJ on my list. Then again Matt Cameron is the musician I've seen live the most... When you combine the amount of times I've seen PJ and Soundgarden.

Haha, didn't think of it that way but in that case, same for me too about Matt Cameron! Oh wait actually, I must tally my Ed solo shows too. I may have seen Ed more than Matt, but just slightly. Hmmmm....

I broke my "no traveling for anyone other than Pearl Jam (and Eddie Vedder)" last year to see Chris Cornell 7 times in 6 cities :) It was glorious!

I caught the Allmans in the 90s as well (after the Dead show I saw in '92, I know that much, lol).

The Division Bell was awesome, the first show I saw that was elevated to the level of spectacle, lol. I was sorely disappointed when I noticed the LED on my copy of Pulse was no longer flashing, took it out of the case, and the batteries had corroded (I've changed them periodically over the years). Once I get it cleaned off and tested, there will be no more batteries in that one, lol.

Floyd (especially Dark Side) is a band I might go a bit between listens, but ALWAYS come back to them, same with Zeppelin. Those are the only 2 I personally put above PJ (since our honesty's been called into question, lol). Nirvana sits below PJ only because of the brevity of their career.

I love the Queens of the Stone Age just as much, but in a slightly different way. They have not been with me for as long as PJ, but they hit me in an equally hard way. PJ feels like my family, my home. QoTSA are like my secret dangerously delicious boyfriend :relaxed:

I like 2 bands more than PJ and that is Led Zeppelin and U2.
Was fortunate enough to see Robert Plant last summer, of course it wasn't Zeppelin, but it was damn good anyhow.

    For me:
    Toadies
    Foo fighters

I've seen the Toadies twice in a small venue (the Vogue) in Indpls. That is a kick ass band.

The second time I saw them they played Rubberneck start to finish. Awesome.
