locking down our borders would be a good start.

You're right gf guns don't kill people

Gun owners with legally purchased and registered guns kill people.
Nearly 750,000 hunters went deer hunting last week in Pennsylvania. Think about it, millions of rounds of ammunition and nearly 3/4 of a million firearms and not one mass shooting or murder. The vast vast majority of gun owners are responsible. It s the very small percentage as usual that fuck it up for everyone.
Agreed. just like not all Muslims are radical extremists...
But to argue with myself, it is way too easy to get guns and ammo. Laws need to be little bit stricter IMO.
Agreed. I wish more states had background checks like nj. In order for me to buy a rifle/shotgun in this state I had to apply for a firearms identification card. In order to get that I needed to get fingerprinted, two letters of referral from non-relatives, mental background check, criminal background check and my boss was contacted to see if their were any issues. If you pass everything you get something called a firearms identification card which entitles you to buy a rifle/shotgun but you need to do separate paperwork in order to buy a handgun. When you finally go and buy a firearm you have to show your firearms id card, fill out a bunch of paperwork, gun is registered of course, and the state police are called one more time just to make sure that you are still a ok since time obviously lapses from initial date of getting id card. Make sense?
I feel that if other states followed this lead then more people that shouldn't have a gun would be denied. Just my .02 cents.
Fuckin A . Maybe Christie can plant THAT bug in Kasich's ear as well as both our state chambers.
I think it actually works really well. Unless you really want to buy a gun you aren't going to go through all of that. The problem is most (i think upwards of 85%) of the guns used in crimes in New Jersey are brought in from other states.
It would be nice if Christie tried to sell this but he's running republican.
Curious though, what are regs related to private sales?

I'm not sure bud. I know if I buy from a private dealer out of state it can't be shipped to my door rather it goes right to a FFL (federal firearms license (dealer)) where I have to pay anywhere from $35-$60 to transfer it. I bought from a private dealer once back in 94/95 so I'm not really sure what the law is in 2015.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me......

Saw something on the news last night that there will soon be a gun shopping network. Anybody know about that?

Cal,it's not an offend thing,it's a respect thing.
I am not religious.(but I'm spiritual).I am married to an Atheist, who rails on at religion as much as you do.So I hear it all the time. You and her have the right to feel that way and I RESPECT you for it and would not want to be an asshole and piss on your way of thinking.
Although I agree with many of your points of view,I still would not be happy with myself if I projected my views onto others.(isn't that one of your religious critiques?)
Wanting all to be happy I could give 2 shits how you do it as long as you don't expect me to do it also.I will do my thing because it's what feels right for me.

It's kinda like what I've been saying in other threads, where normal peace loving folks are starting to hate those with differing views. That flies right in the face of the whole thing your trying to support.

There's no hate but continuing the pussy footing around to not cause waves will continue the divide that humans like ISIS and Ayatola Cruz will use to create hate. How can one respect believing in fantasy? It's ludicrous. Muslims are getting slammed and find it silly that Christianity gets a pass.

Humans need to drop this whole charade. There are no gods. None of you really believe or you'd be acting different. Just a security blanket. You dont need it. Christ won't strike you with lightning. Good people die young. Assholes live forever. God doesn't work in mysterious ways.

So are Buddhists equal in the sick war too?

I don't see Christians beheading people and burning people alive in the name of Jesus. Ridiculous to even remotely equate Christianity's perceived negatives to what the Islamic extremists are doing. ISIL wants to murder anything that doesn't fit its religious view and Christians want to keep unborn babies from being murdered. Yeah, both are completely evil.

If I were an omniscient omnist god and flashed up a score card showing how many people Christians have killed in the name of their god and how many people Muslims have killed in the name of their god, which side would have the highest number?

We bombed the shit out of Muslims. Dubya appealed to religion to get Americans behind him. We just have better weapons. Fuck look at the rhetoric now in bombing Syria.

"Keeping score" is one reason why Palestine and Israel get along so great.

The Christian crusades have been over for years so I don't see how that is relevant now?

Let's also not forget that Muslim countries are fighting against these extremists too!!! They have their hands full also.
  • About two years ago I posted on FB about this. I said that topics last one day tops then it gets shuffled into old news.

I tried to keep the post relevant but everyone lost interest so yes, I see this as the new normal.

Crimes committed in the name of country can't be compared to crimes committed in the name of religion.

The Crusades were a shameful past for Christianity centuries ago, but in the current era... Islamic extremists are the champions of shedding blood for their God. Let's get serious. It's not even remotely close.

I see Christian extremists looking really stupid protesting rock concerts and soldiers' funerals. Still up for debate as to whether or not it was in the name of God (he wasn't shrieking his name while covered in blood), I've seen one kill some people at a birth clinic... but I don't see them chopping of heads, burning people alive, committing mass rape and throwing gays from towers among other items.

American military actions are condemned as being religious in nature when compared to Muslim extremism. In almost every other situation they are condemned for being economic, an ongoing grab of natural resources. These charges aren't mutually exclusive of course but the latter is far more accurate than the former.

But thirty leaders of our country invoke religion to motivate the masses. Look at trump and Cruz and graham and Huckabee. Think it a coincidence the atheists and agnostics are the ones that don't want more war? Now it's corporate profit driven but the use of Gods is way it's sold.

Hell Dubya said God, Christian God Was the higher power that guided him on his decisions. To Muslims sure as hell looks and sounds like Christians are bombing and killing them.

Am I making excuses. Absolutely not. Muslims that kill for god are sick fucks. But so are Christians that want to bomb them all and let god sort them out. Just pussies as they call for our young men and women to do it.

So we need to rid our societies of these fake gods and books and make it a bit harder for rich and powerful to have humans sacrifice their one and only life for their gain.

    Fuck all religions and gods.

And to all my Christian brothers and sisters, I love you all. I endured an agonizing prayer before thanksgiving dinner yet love my family. I get it. But break free.
