Well, I was just told by a local that the area around hotel Riazor is not that nice and if I can change hotels, I should.
He also warned against taking taxis by flagging them down on the street.

I heard the same about the area and to avoid "unofficial" taxis.

For the area.. the hotel is a just a close place to the airport and venue. Easy distance to all i want to do and see, Has great reviews as far as accommodations...could really care less about the immediate neighbourhood. didn't make sense to drop triple the money at a tourist hotel!

careful with taxis though. They say take only official licensed cabs. Ideally from a doorman, restaurant host etc... never just hailed off the street.

although transit / subway is close to the Raizor... i'm going to pass and simply cab it down to the Zocalo area for a walking tour on Sunday!

Just wanted to mention that the area gets very lonely at night. Also, some of avenues surrounding the "Foro" are not really thought for pedestrians. At the end of the show, from "Puerta 5" you will see a lot of cabs which will be super expensive but should be safe; just take normal precautions and follow your instincts. If you all are getting organized to go back to Riazor, I'd recommend to reserve a shuttle back. The best would be perhaps to walk towards Churubusco, make a left there and walk to the Grand Prix hotel as the pick up point, because the exit can be problematic due to the amount of people and a shuttle could take forever to reach Puerta 5 after the show.

Also, the subway is usually closed at the end of the show, so it is not really an option most of times. I wouldn't recommend walking back.

As for hailing taxis on the street in the city, at some point some years ago there were robberies using unauthorized taxis painted like the official ones. What is why we recommend using taxis from "sitios" (taxi bases); I suggest to grab a number from the hotel and call it when necessary. There are also plenty of "sitios" around the city, so I'd recommend to look for them and use those; it is a good idea to ask the hotel/restaurant/bar to get one for you, as mentioned already. Another good option might be Uber.

The subway is safe enough and clean. Just beware of pickpockets as everywhere in the world, and avoid rush hour as the plague, as it gets super crowded.

Enjoy the city, it is a great metropolis with awesome museums, restaurants, nightlife, and plenty of cultural and archaelogical sites.

Hi guys I'm thinking about going to this concert and making a mini vacation out of it.My main concern is about getting back to the hotel afterwards ( I haven't booked anything yet). I travel solo often but the area looks sketchy for night time walking. Are you guys meeting in front of the grand prix hotel afterwards?

I emailed Riazor and they don't offer a shuttle other than to the airport and recommended, like everyone else has, not walking back. Looks like we'll need to look at some other shuttle options if there is a group that wants to do book one.

4 of us are in too. We might need more than one shuttle to and from the Riazor.

Just back tracking through the posts here there's more than 25 people interested in a shuttle so far.Maybe 2 shuttles or 1 bus to and from the Riazor. We should tinker this out soon. The price should be pretty affordable considering the amount of people.

Am I the only one that booked the Grand Prix? Nice hotel, 3 minute walk from the stadium.

Let's have some drinks at the Grand Prix after and keep the party going.. Then everyone can get cabs/shuttle from there.

    Party on Wayne!
