What a play by Rizzo. Pretty stupid rule runners automatically get to advance.

I remember this happening to Rizzo about a year or two ago. He caught a foul ball and flipped into the dugout. This allowed the runner on third to score. Technically, the ball does go out of play. I understand the rule.

I bailed after getting swept by the phillies at home.
I can't be a hypocrite and come back, can I?
I'm older now, I can't place so much emotion on each win or loss as when I was eight.
I am happy for those of you who never gave up,
somewhere deep inside this muddled brain of mine I am excited for the cubs.
    Pessimistic for ever though :heartbreak:
The worst of times..they don't phase me,
even if I look and act really crazy.

I almost bailed after the Phillies sweep, but Len Kasper reminded me there was a lot of season left. I'm glad I listened to him! Come on back, Malroth!

I still don't expect a deep playoff run if the cubs do get in. I have thought all season that we are still a starter, closer, and one more hitter away from making a deep run. This is a good season for all of the cubs to get playoff experience for next year. Because next year, the pressure will be on them.

But could you imagine where the cubs would be if castro hit this year? Or we actually had a good bull pen?

Just saw another article talking about a potential Samardzija return to the Cubs. When will it ever fucking end? He can take his career sub-.500 W-L and over 4.00 ERA and shove it.

I agree. He had one good year. And his record was still under .500 when they traded him. Don't want it, don't need it.

Best part is all the core guys are under control through at least 2020. Gives us a nice 5-6 yr window.

I am convinced no one in this pen knows what a 1 2 3 inning is. Expecting a bumpy 9th.

If they keep playing like they have recently, anything is possible in the playoffs. Though I admit, a 7 game series against the Cards would be a huge mountain to climb. Or even the Dodgers. Imagine having to face Greinke & Kershaw twice each, one of 'em possibly 3 times.

Have to win the one game play-in game first.(Pirates probably).

Still shocked by this team! Wow! Of all years for WGN to say "fuck you" to everyone outside of Northern Illinios. Ugh!

Dumbest fn move they've ever made. No way in hell you can tell me Andromeda, Salem, Manhattan or reruns of some shitty show get them better ratings than the Cubs did. Glad for mlb.tv and the fact they allow multiple logins on 1 account!!

It's because WGN America is changing from a "superstation" to a regular cable network. They can't broadcast Cubs games nationally on a cable network due to MLB rules. This article sums it up pretty well...

Sale look incredible today. We were not going to beat him with the way that he was pitching.

Offense has looked much better during our recent run. Hopefully, getting shut down today does not slow us down.

I am still being cautious about my expectations for the Wild Card this season but it is fun to be in the hunt and playing meaningful games in mid-August.
