Obviously, Bryant shit down his leg. However, before that, they had Sczur batting? He should have instead been put on 2nd in place of Montero. The mets OF has some cannons. Sczurs speed was needed on 2nd.

They said today that was just the 2nd GIDP by Bryant all yr in a little under 350 ABs. Just bad timing.
Those fans at the game last night were in SHOCK when he grounded in to that double play.

Montero should be cut. He's horrible. He's not even good enough defensively to be worth rostering. Heyward can at least save some runs plus he's hitting over .230. I can't remember the last time montero hit over .200.

Montgomery has been putting up some good numbers. Solid lefty out of the pen who can also start is huge!
Was hoping to see Vogelbach at some point, but it's tough to be behind a guy like Rizzo who's going nowhere anytime soon.

Me too...I wonder if this doesn't allow the Cubs to fly under the radar to get Chapman once the Nationals think the Cubs are out of the running for bullpen help.

It should soften the market some for Chapman and miller. The Nats aren't dumb enough to think the cubs are done dealing for bullpen help.

Degen, why are you so hell bent on trading Baez? He's a solid piece of our every day lineup!

I don't consider baez as solid at all. He k's waaaaaaaaay too much and he's just an above average fielder. But, hes young and has some pop. That makes him great trade bait. He's very replaceable.

So by that logic we should trade Bryant, too? Since he strikes out twice as much as Baez and commits as many errors.

Baez isn't leading the league in home runs, is he?

No way I'd trade Baez. You basically cover yourself from 1 big injury with him on roster since he can play anywhere in field. Huge asset for an nl team. Above avg defender anywhere you put him. Guy can prob be a .275 hitter and hit 20-25 hrs. Currently. 286 and 9 hrs snd he doesn't play everyday, although he should.

If he played everyday, he'd be a .240 hitter.

Anyway, I think he's tradeable. Theo loves schwarber. He's not moving. Who else could you trade to get a Chapman or a miller?

Miller is not even a question. The Yanks have him for 3 or 4 more years at low cost, no way they give him up unless they get a blockbuster in return. Trade Soler for Chapman. Keep Baez. Saying he'd be a .240 hitter if he played every day is complete conjecture. He might be a .300 hitter if he started daily. His strikeout rate has gone down from 41% in 2014, 30% in 2015, to 22% this season. His spot on the roster is quite valuable, as pureoc said, since he can play anywhere in the field. If we didn't have him right now, we'd have La Stella & Bryant platooning at 3B and OF. And while I prefer Bryant in left, and see La Stella's value as a late-inning defensive substitution, if that was our every day lineup, we'd be in a lot worse shape offensively!

Do you really think soler is good enough to get Chapman? If the Yankees think so, then great, make the deal now. Baez career average is .240. I didn't pull that number up out of thin air. That includes his .286 average so far this year. His k rate has dropped, I'll give him that. I simply think Baez has the tools and is good enough to get a stud closer without losing too much. He's replaceable. Look at the cubs top 10 prospects. 7 of them are position players that can do exactly what baez is doing.

That .240 is because of his horrendous .196 in 2014, when he struck out half the time. He went .285 in his short stint last year and .286 this season... so he's been pretty consistent lately, while dropping his K rate. His OBP has stayed consistent between last year and this year, too. He still needs to learn to take more walks, though.
