    who here adores sean penn?

not I. i actually find him pretty annoying.

I saw the agenda in the OP and just listed some good things he has done with the money he has made pretending.

why not just call this thread "fuck sean penn" and be done with it??

  • I would say no matter what side you are on, who cares what Sean Penn thinks about anything? Or his personal life. Dude is an actor and has zero impact on my life one way or another.

I've always found it fascinating that people come into a thread they think is no longer worth discussing, make a comment, thus bumping that thread, and ironically, effectively promoting further discussion of said topic no longer worth discussing.

    why?

Why? He's an actor. What more is there to be discussed. As far as bumping it, it was already on the top. From last night when I went to bed to the time I posted that, there like 13 new posts. I just didn't think it would go on this long.

you have been here long enough to know that we do not just beat topics into the ground around here. we beat them another 10 feet under the ground.

can you imagine chuck norris trying to negotiate and settle things without violence? the outrage that would cause....or charlton heston playing an anti-gun liberal?? oh the humanity....

I tried to read up a bit on what makes Sean Penn so anti-gun....turns out he had a concealed carry license in CA, and a collection of 65 guns, which he had decommissioned and made into a sculpture for a Haiti relief benefit a year ago. Bidding war between Piers Morgan and Anderson Cooper ended with a 1.4 mil sale. Strongly anti-gun Charlize Theron convinced Penn to get rid of the guns. Why is she strongly anti-gun? Because her mom killed her dad (with a gun) after her dad shot at the fam with a shotgun. Glenn Beck thinks she should be an anti-alcohol activist instead...but I digress.
So....looks to me like Penn is a born-again anti-gun crusader....and was likely under contract for this movie long before his change of heart.

I happened to read a little snippet on this movie in the news today. The two-second blurb said it was about a sniper who took a hit on a political figure. Years later, he finds out there is a hit out on him. Penn said it was a movie "about the consequences of violence", so maybe not necessarily inconsistent with an anti-gun stance.

Yeah, I was just wondering if anyone had ever SEEN this movie before judging if it encourages gun violence???

  • Wow, an awful lot of people care about celebs and their business, exactly what the media strives for. Kudos!

When in reality, no one should.

And I strongly disagree that everything is a side thing. Man, if you fall for that right/left side thing and that everything is tied to that, you are a victim of the U.S. government via the media. The right/left bullshit is EXACTLY why we have a hugely divided nation. Media wants us to stay divided, Republicans sure as hell refuse to get along with the other side. It's the very reason the country is not doing well.

And, here, I have no problem recognizing I am a progressive, but I do not equate that to everything. Especially celebs who deserve not zero of my attention. Sean Penn did a fine job with Milk and Into the Wild, but that's it. Who cares about his personal beliefs? Really?

In reality, people shouldn't believe in grandfatherly types that live in clouds and have existed since the beginning of time either- exactly what religious organizations strive for. Kudos to the successful brainwashing efforts!

Do I have you mistaken? You seem like you are admonishing some on here, but should maybe be more careful living in a glass house when throwing rocks, eh?

Faith is totally different than worshipping actors and celebrities… And besides, this has nothing to do with believing in God. Apples to oranges.

Admonishing some on here? More like the entire thought process of caring what anyone in Hollywood thinks or does. (and nobody on here specifically)
