    Les Habitants is a nickname they were called to distinguish the Canadiens from the English team in Montreal at the time. It stuck as a nickname.

    It is now Quebec french they switched over sometime in the 90s I don't remember when, just that I had to learn a bunch of new french along with having to learn french. This was back when you needed french to go the university, the only reason I ever took it.
