wait wait wait a second...pdalowsky said:and yes the facebook side of this is a complete shit show. arguing, bickering, name calling and drama galore. Talk about uniting fans, in this fan base that seems impossible these days. Too many egos and too many people willing to be disrespectful to one another. There isn't a day goes by on the facebook groups that a thread isn't derailed and soon enough deleted.
I think it shows that the mods here do a great job of keeping things civil and on topic mostly.
Paul, are you talking about people insulting other people over the internet?
Isn't that why the internet was invented? I mean that, and the mass sharing of porn of course...
good luck with your quest... something tells me this band really doesn't give a fuck about people trying to force their hand.... plans will proceed as they proceed...
And the thing people need to remember about the incident with the FF, yes, they did it/are doing it, but they're also still working it into other plans and doing it on their own terms... Dave is a lot more amicable to this sort of stuff than PJ is... and as Paul points out, it fit in with their current promotion plans anyway...Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.0 -
Wasn't answering ANY questions, and banned people who had legitimate questions. Total scam...Tuolumne Mama said:Sounds like a lot of credit cards were charged which isn't what was said. Poorly handled and executed. Glad I didn't jump on the bandwagon. Once I saw the inability of the planner to answer legitimate questions posted respectfully, I was out. Sad, as I want to believe the intent was good but not thought through very well at all.

People using Pearl Jam for personal gain/profit? Say it ain't so!www.cluthelee.com0

Very poorly conceived. Terrible venue. No structure.
Something *smarter* and possibly more righteous would have been much better.
Say a venue of like 3k-5k somewhere, probably closer to PJ headquarters in the NW somewhere (so it is more cost effective and logistically possible for the band and crew).
Bump the price up to like $200-$500 a head. Have someone trustworthy run it, who everyone knows, or some assurance that it wont be a take the money and bolt... Make 50% of the price for the band, and the other 50% to a charity like the Gleason Foundation or EB disease or something. Fans raise $1,000,000 for this, I cant see the band not doing something. It would hit the media, and the band would look like great dudes, as would the fans.0 -
I say let the band decide when/where it is touring. I am as guilty as anyone of taking Pearl Jam too seriously (i.e., merch whore), but it is a little ridiculous for someone and their buddies to try to raise a $1,000,000 to get a Pearl Jam show at a venue 99% of the country has never heard of. I am a little tired of fans that try to make the experience all about themselves (bringing kids to the show to get a tamborine, having front row every show to become "friends" with the band, endless requests for songs because their pets heads are falling off or something, trying to get a $1,000,000 from strangers to get a show at a location they think is cool, etc...).0

This was posted over on FB::
In light of recent events, I'm reposting this from our Wishlist Foundation Group for anyone interested.
Back in early September, Wishlist Foundation began working on developing a fan-sourced (crowd-sourced) campaign to raise enough money to host a Pearl Jam concert weekend on or around October 22, 2015 at the infamous Gorge Amphitheater in Gorge, WA.
Part 25th anniversary celebration, part thank you, part activism fan movement, Wishlist Foundation plans on rolling out this campaign between Christmas and New Years.
Today another crowd-source event was announced to bring the band to Forest Hills, NY that will last the next 88 days. Wishlist was approached by the organizer to work together via PM, at which point I informed him of our existing plans, offered to work together/include him in ours and genuinely wished him well when he politely declined.
Because our campaign will launch within the 88 days of the Forest Hills campaign, I thought it would be polite and in good community spirit to mention the Wishlist campaign in advance, as a preemptive attempt to dispel any potential negativity that Wishlist was trying to 'step on his toes or steal his thunder'. That isn't and won't be, our intent.
We realize people are now interested in our campaign, but we're not ready to release any details more specific than I posted here. When we announce, we want to make sure we do it right - with facts, specific goals, specific ticket expectations, rewards, etc. We're not going to have our hand forced because someone else in our PJ community is borrowing the same awesome idea from the Foo Fighters fans.
We LOVE the fan community. It is our family and has been for the last ten years. Myself, and all of us at Wishlist, genuinely believe that each and every fan can make a HUGE difference and a HUGE positive impact on the world, within our fan community and especially with each other.
We've seen it happen. Witnessed your generosity and extraordinary efforts.
Fan motivated and created events are how Wishlist started. We support lots of individual and smaller fan group related projects, causes and more. We've supported individuals and fans both publicly and quietly out of the public eye. I don't feel the need to list them - it's not about naming names to prove a point.
We're grassroots. We're volunteers. We're fans. We wish everyone who is trying to do a good thing the best of luck. It's how we believe the world should be.

The wishlist thing sounds awesome, and I'm fully behind that. But Oct 22? Seems a little late. I live in Vancouver and am currently considering building an arc. It has rained every day since I got back from Bridge School, like heavily. I know it rains less on the other side of the Cascades, but late Oct seems crazy late for the Gorge. Couldn't DMB just retire and PJ take their annual labour day dates? Or even do it Mid-Sept once the boys have their kids back in school?1992-07-21 Vancouver

that wishlist thing is more along the lines of what I was thinking... not this one guy begging PJ to play at this rundown place across the country in NYC for $80 a pop for a limited number of people. Its just stupid.

If it pisses off some people (ie, people get pissed that PJ don't end up doing it) then maybe it'll weed out some shit-ass-stinker fans. In that respect, I'm in. But I'm not "in." I have to agree. Merely copying another band's fans' idea just isn't all that enticing…SPEEDY MCCREADY said:Ya have to admit.

The whole bit about it always being about "us"… I have a problem with that as well. How about we stop being so self-centered when it comes to Pearl Jam?Post edited by backseatLover12 on0 -
