no no no don't you know the only way you can prevent a school shooting is having 100 armed security at every school?Last-12-Exit said:I highly doubt an armed security guard would have prevented one bullet from being fired. He stood up in the cafeteria and started shooting. (Allegedly)
Please will someone think of the children!0 -
Totally agree. Kids will all end up being fucked in the head (even more than they already are) if schools turn into that.CM189191 said:
Yes, let's institutionalize the school even more like prisons than they already are. Armed guards, uniforms, locked doors, RFIDs. Sounds like a great environment for learning. Sounds a lot more like North Korea than North America.unsung said:

Sorry if I prefer to protect our children with trained and armed personal instead of a sign with some words on it that has never stopped a bad guy.

so you dont think the owner of a weapon that's used in a crime such as this shouldnt be held accountable? If that kid was driving his parents car and plowed into a crowd wouldnt they bear some responsibility? Whats different?chadwick said:that isn't right, mickeyrat

Most schools are already underfunded and are forced to cut educational programs or certain sports teams due to budget cuts. SOOOOOO lets add in the cost for armed security and the training and liability insurance that goes with it. Oh but we can never raise taxes.
Lets come up with REAL ideas to prevent these tragedies and not armed guards or armed teachers which will NEVER happen.10/31/2000 (****)

This shit just went down and already some people are jumping the gun (honestly, no pun intended).
Does anyone know more or have deeper insight beyond what's been initially reported?0 -
A student at Washington state's Marysville-Pilchuck High School walked into the school's cafeteria, went up to a table with students, "came up from behind ... and fired about six bullets into the backs of them," witness Jordan Luton told CNN. "They were his friends, so it wasn't just random," Luton said.Last-12-Exit said:I highly doubt an armed security guard would have prevented one bullet from being fired. This is why handguns are so effective. You just carry that little weapon in your pocket and... right when you're ready... "surprise" and begin firing.
Cue critical response: This is why the other students needed to have their own guns. That way... "double surprise" and a gun fight could have occurred."My brain's a good brain!"0 -
Is that true? If my daughter was driving my car and plowed into somebody and killed them, I could be legally accountable? I know financially, my insurance would pay, but I could get charged with a crime?mickeyrat said:

The answer to 16,000 gun deaths and 4-5 national tragedies every year is more guns. Brilliant.
You're right, keep relying on signs and laws that criminals ignore.

I was reading on nytimes.com and under the headline the first sentence said "a gunman is dead after opening fire....." It doesn't seem right to call this kid a gunman. It was a child. A 14 year old. Yes, I know what be did was deplorable and unexplainable. He is a murderer. I was just taken by surprise by the terminology I guess. When you think of a gunman, a 14 year old doesn't come to mind.
Edit: I'm not defending this kid at all. Like I said, he's a murderer. It's just the times we live in.Post edited by Last-12-Exit on0 -
No. Not if your kid had a driver's license and you didn't get her drunk before lending her your car.Last-12-Exit said:

Seeing as you can't rely on your leaders to make the necessary reforms to safeguard your country... you might be right.unsung said:Thirty Bills Unpaid said:

Seriously? Common Core essentially turned schools into indoctrination centers.
You might as well guard them.

* Hand guns restricted to those who qualify after courses and stringent background checks.unsung said:Ok I'll play along. What law would have stopped this?
He broke how many laws today? One more wont do anything.
* Ammunition for handguns sold only to those with valid permits.
* Carry permits for those who require one because of their occupations and those who need one for the protection of life (armoured car guards or people threatened by wild animals while working in a remote wilderness area).
Couple these laws with a solid buy back program.
Short term: no significant result.
Long term: significant results.
Sorry... no band aid quick fix for this deep pit you have dug yourselves into.

Good lord it's always hyperbole. Common core equals indoctrination? Care to explain? Indoctrination to what? Let me guess, it's a conspiracy to make children statists.
