All I can say is that I'll be one upset fella if they don't return this tour. It really isn't far off the beaten path, and I think that they were well received in Halifax. Cross any fingers/toes, and those of your family/friends/pets. They need to make it back. Halifax, to the max!

Today I e-mailed the Metro Centre in regards to a possible Pearl Jam show, and requested that if there was no chance of a show and nothing in the works, to simply tell me so. However, this was the e-mail I received in return:
"As and when concerts and other events are confirmed and ticket information is known, it is immediately posted by Box Office staff to our new on-line ticketing system website at: www.ticketatlantic.com."
So, what dose this mean? Does it mean there's no chance of another show? Or does it mean that we should wait and see? Your thoughts?

It sounds like a pretty standard response. I don't think it means much either way. I mentioned this earlier, but I'm a bit surprised that virtually no city has had any leaks wrt when/if PJ will be palying in their town. I would think that if there were leaks aboiut a bands tour schedule, it would come from people who work for certain venues and their box offices etc.., but so far nothing. Looks like we'll find out from PJ first, hopefully on the 7th.
I was thinking about how the 1st Halifax show had sold out, but that other places like Ottawa had not, yet it might be Ottawa that gets another show - not exactly fair !! Halifax is 1/3 the size of Ottawa, yet it sold 10,000 seats (and maybe could have done it twice !), while Ottawa only sold 13,000 seats.
they could have sold tons more tickets in halifax...i know of tons of people who would have loved to have gone (and who would have been thrilled to sit up in the rafters). i know of a few people who would have loved to have paid less than $300 for tickets.

Yeah seriously, there were tons of unsold seats behind the band that could have been used up.
fucking scalpers too. I remember being in line to get in and some goon was on the top of the parking lot (we were lined up coming up the hill) trying to sell a pair of tickets for 350 bucks.

i think my friend bought those! the seats weren't too bad.
Ive always been a big PJ fan, but its only been the past 5 years or so that I started really getting into the entire library of songs and I have now found myself completely addicted. I could never say what my favorite band was (enjoy all sorts of music/bands) but I can now say PJ by far, the depth of quality tunes over the years is amazing.
My friend and I tried very hard to get tickets for the Halifax show, not realizing what a huge following the band would still have here, and how hard it was going to be to get tickets. I was trying the phones while he stood in line in the early morning hours, but we got nothing. Shortly after it sold out, the best prices I could find were $200-$300 each, which were just not possible with my budget. I knew at that time that when the concert came and went, I would regret it big time. Sure enough, I have been kicking myself in the ass every since the first review came out...lol.
I downloaded the bootleg, and to my AMAZEMENT, it is still in my stereo 95% of the time. I have listened to both disks non-stop since September, and don't get tired of it. The band sounds perfect live! Even though I missed the concert, I can imagine the atmosphere there just from listening. I had no idea how good this band sounds on a consistent basis, unlike so many other bands that are inconsistent at best.
The point of this post is to hopefully get another Halifax show on a tour list, and this time I will not miss it. Seeing PJ in concert has now become a major priority for me Cant wait for the new album!

Halifax, Summer 2008... they return!
Metro Center uses internet sales now so the tickets would likely go even faster if we get another show. People should really consider joining ten club to avoiding getting shut out!
So I bid farewell to the Eastern town I never more will see;
But work I must so I eat this dust and breathe refinery.
Oh I miss the green and the woods and streams and I don't like cowboy clothes;
But I like being free and that makes me an idiot I suppose.
That show was by far the most intense show that I've ever been to. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for another kick-ass show at the Metro Centre. I don't know how they could play a show like that and with that kind of crowd reaction and not come back. Consider this my vote to bring them back...and hopefully soon!
we may find out tomorrow if i get back to where i once belonged.. here's to Halifax!! *sips on a beefeater martini*
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green
i am by no means bitching. i am not jumping the gun. i am merely wondering the following thing and ranting like a loon.
why the fuck does Toronto get the only listed Canadian stop in the tour so far?
BFD if it's a huge city. BFD if it is basically considered the epicentre of this huge fucking country. Big Fucking Deal!
i am tired of the East Coast, and i'm talking the TRUE East Coast, getting the shit end of the stick.
it may seem like i'm bitching about the tour, but really, i'm just feeling a little hostility toward the culturally endowed "upper" canada. i would have probably found another way to vent my anger. this forum just makes it easier! it's nothing against the people there...it's just unfair how the country seems to stop in the middle.
okay...bitching aside, i really hope that T.O. isn't the only canadian date on the tour and i will not lose hope until the tour is completely over and they have officially passed us by.
Hey Lanners, if its any consolation I'm guessing they NEVER had any intention of going to Halifax or any other Canadian city besides Tor.. Van. is only rumoured to be getting a gig. Montreal isn't getting one period, which astounds me. For what its worth, I think Tor. got the gig b/c of size and geography, not b/c the shows in Tor. are so great. Actually, the concerts in Tor. have paled in comparison to other Canadian cities - Halifax among them.
I live here, so I'll be going. But with great disappointment. Oh well, I think there's always another chance for Halifax. What amazes me to this day are the number of people who continue to write about their experience at the Halifax concert, and how great it was. I so wish I was there.
I actually thought about making up a huge sign for the Air Canada Centre that read: "fuck Toronto, come back to Halifax ". I'm serious.....

The east coast does always get shafted but i'm glad i got to experience PJ in Halifax last time and I hope I get to again but i'm not holding my breath... ah well opening night in the T dot will have to do

have fun at the T.O. show, those who get to go. i have neither the cash or the time off work (oh the joys of a new job) to go.
Truthmonger, i want ALL the gory details and i mean ALL of them, in a ten or more page report on my desk immediately after the show.
and don't give up hope. sometimes the best is saved for last.

1. We just had a PJ concert in September, and it was a great one. They've come here ONCE... ever. While I am hoping they come back soon, they did JUST finish a tour through here.
2. We get shafted all the time by big acts, but mostly its due to the arena. You put an 18,000 arena in Halifax, and all the big acts will sellout. People come from all over the maritimes and northeastern US if its a good band.
I bet if Halifax gets that arena built (rumours), Halifax becomes the last eastern stop on many bands tours, not Montreal.

Halifax, Summer 2008... they return!
well, truthmonger, i still want a report. you will still be at a show, which is more than the rest of us might get.
i know you're frustrated with your seats (I LOVED the Kool-Aid stand bit...that was so funny!) but come on...you're dangling a scrap of food just out of reach of a hungry fan. you are among the lucky and i wish you could be happy for your "crappy" seats. who cares if you can't see them up close. when i saw them i was literally in the nosebleed section and i loved every fucking minute of it.
sorry, i didn't mean to go off like that.
i'm kind of glad that i've not been on the boards that much lately (new job is keeping me busy and making me sick of computers) whenever there is an announcement of a tour or ever since the buzz about the new album started, people have been kind of riled up and going off on each other (my tirade about included). i don't want to be all peace-nic but come on people...this is an exciting time and it's not the right time to be at each other's throats.
i'm glad the throat slashers don't frequent this or the other halifax thread, otherwise i think i would just stop coming to the message pit altogether.

I'm glad you found part of the thread funny, but actually, ALL OF IT was supposed to be funny. My hope was that if I made it ridiculous enough that people would see it for what it was - a joke. Satire. Sarcasm. I have no problem with my seats, or the process/protocol as a whole. It was meant as little more than a friendly in-house stirring-of-the-pot.
Anyhoo, you will indeed get a detailed account of events from the ACC. It will be the very best that this hoary, pickled, petrified brain can provide. I'm still thinking about "the sign" - as it will be known henceforth - and exactly how to do that. I think I'll need an accomplice though. And, oh ya, maybe a bodyguard should I stick with the original message. LOL.
I figured your post was tongue-in-cheek, and i stand by my love of the Kool-Aid stand comment...sheer brilliance. It wasn't necessarily your post that set me off. almost every post i read prior to writing mine was full of in-fighting and pissing on people who didn't have good seats or people saying that people who have high 10c numbers or no 10c membership at all aren't good fans. it's junior high at the message pit and i was bullied enough the first time i went through junior high and frankly i was just in a pissy mood.
Your tenacity with the idea of "the sign" makes me giddy with schoolgirl glee. My only "regret" (i hate that word) is not being there to see it. Take pics. LOTS!
i kind of got screwed over on t.o., so i won't be there either lanners...have to rely on hopes for haltown '06...maybe at the end of the world tour...the last gig maybe? that would be schweet!
I really wish they'd come back to Hali..I really do...but I don't think I've ever actually believed it would happen. Unfortunately, we are not in a geographic area that makes sense logistically...Although the stop before Europe sounds good ;-)
We got our tour last year...so I am content with that. But....it sure would be nice to see them back!
