It was okay... I wish I'd seen it in 3-D on the big screen though. I think that was the real reason it got such good reviews, because the actual story isn't very interesting at all. It's a movie for the eyes, not so much the brain. I mean, it was okay, but nothing special.

That was exactly my take...although I got to see it in the theaters in 3D...originally I loved it (as I was watching it)...but after digesting it, I realized i'd never want to sit through it again. A most visual movie with very little plot or character development.

I woke up early this morning - couldnt sleep -- and threw on a movie called A Single Man. I only watched the first half, but I loved the way this movie was made. The cinematography and music is awesome. I hope the second half is just as good.
Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)

Yeah I really liked what I saw so far...(tiny spoiler for anyone who hasnt seen A Single Man)...Im not sure if you noticed...there were two scenes where they show Colin Firth's face where the actual color overlay does a very subtle transition from a drab grey to a more colorful tone...one was when he was talking to the little girl in the bank. I had to rewind it because with the music and how gradual the effect was, I thought I was high or something! ha! it was very cool.

Colin Firth is a really good actor.

Watched Philomena the other night. I thought it was really good. That said, I would like to bash those nuns heads with a baseball bat.

It's been a pretty long time since I saw it, but now that you mention it, I think I do recall some kind of change like that.
Colin Firth is one of the best actors around IMO! I love him! I will watch ANY movie he's in.

    haha ...

i thought that movie was about as objective as one could make as it relates to the catholic church or in this case the convent ...

Flight with Denzel Washington. It wasn't over the top, but kept me watching. The ending was a nice switch from the expected.

Did some late Oscar catching up yesterday, watched Her and 12 Years A Slave.
Her was good, but nothing special to me. 12 Years A Slave was super hard to watch but a fantastic film, definitely deserving of those Oscars.

    Mud.

Pretty damn good! Not sure it was actuallyboscar worthy on Matthew McConaughey's part... if anyone should have it won it, it should have been the kid who played Ellis. I mean, MC is great in it, but the kid really made the film as good as it is IMO.
