The Martian 3D, to be honest I think it's overrated. I don't think it's a bad movie it just didn't blow me away.

Just saw this too. I think it's appropriately rated. But I never have expectations when I go into a movie (i feel like a lot of people actually kind if ruin movies just woth their preconceived notions, haha. Not saying you did that personally TFlyer). I thought it was excellent. It's not an intellectual movie or anything like that. Not terribly thought provoking and it doesn't offer many surprises. It's just a good old fashioned feel-good American space movie, with some advance McGuyver thrown in, and is very well done. Matt Damon is always great. The cinematography is really fantastic. I think the 3D was super well done. It's not all "IT'S IN 3D!!! IN YOUR FACE!!" The 3D just every effectively makes you feel more 'there' IMO.
Insterstellar is a way better story. But The Martian is a solid "American Triumph" kind of affair, and sometimes that kind of thing is a nice break from reality, lol.
(Not that they bash you over the head with American propaganda or anything like that, btw. That's not what I mean).

I don't know why but it seems like Halloween is a good time to watch Tim Bruton's movies.

I know but it wasn't on TV.
There was a special on PBS friday night : Danny Elfman's Music From the Films of Tim Burton. Since, I can't stop watching this on Youtube

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xw7VllI19P8

I didn't know that it was Danny Elfman himself that was singing in the movie. He has a nice voice.

Amy. I have no idea what her dad is fussing about if anything it makes him look like an idiot and her to be a troubled individual who was effected by the negative situations they were surrounded by. All that aside I found it to be a very interesting music documentary and would recommend to anyone regardless of them being an Amy Winehouse fan or not.

That VHS cover creeped me out as a kid in the video store when it came out. It does start slow, I agree. Can't go wrong with Alice Cooper as a creepy homeless man.

I saw Spectre in the imax tonight. Good Bond flick, not Craig's best and extremely far from the worst on the whole spectrum. It was lacking in some of the character development (monica bellucci, dave bautista). But overall it was enjoyable and they brought back some things from the past few movies that made it interesting. The highlight for me was the opening day of the dead scene for sure. Bottom line is it's worth seeing if you're a Bond fan.

Just saw it today. I liked it, but agree with your points. Very entertaining. Tough to match Skyfall though, that movie was on a whole other level

Saw it at my community college a few years ago as a stage play. I took theater classes and had friends involved.

Suffragette. It was good. But I was irked by the complete absence of a) a single person of color b) a single mention of women of color. It makes me uncomfortable to see the film about women's suffrage in England completely ignore a subset of women.

I think this movie is one of the few movies that is actually better than the book.

  • 22 Jump Street. Hilarious movie.
  • Into the Wild. Watched numerous times, and still a favourite in our family.

I read that Ken Kesey wasn't a fan of the movie.
There are a few changes to the book is the only downside.
    But I love it regardless.

    Breaker!Breaker! (Rifftrax commentary)

There's a scene where one of the 3 riffers jokes about a character looking like Eddie Vedder.
