Watched The Shining for the first time today.

    It was good.

Was that the original with Nicholson?
    Yes.

    Why, was there a remake?

I'm not sure. I watched that a couple of years back too even though I should have seen it years ago when it came out. It's dated now for sure but scary as hell still!
There were a few movies that came out back then that were awesome- and so scary given the time frame.

Friday the 13th, at the time, was crazy.
    Alien was awesome.
    The Shining.
    Poltergeist.

It seems horror shows are struggling to be awesome as of late.

The Martian in 3D. Enjoyable, didn't seem like 2.5 hours long thankfully.

Selma. Seemed like an accurate portrayal of that time in history. Very good.

The Intern. Was cute. Good for a Saturday night mom-daughter movie.

    John Carpenter's Escape From L.A.

Some of the worst special effects I've seen in a big studio movie that isn't from Robert Rodriguez. Buscemi steals this movie, though.

  • Elysium. Decent enough, but Jodie Foster's performance is laughable.

Jodie Foster's performance single-handedly ruined that movie IMO. I don't understand how she could suck that bad. It's like she must have been struggling with a coke addiction during filming, lol.
The other big problem I had with it was the "NOW WHAT??" factor. The final outcome doesn't seem like any kind of solution at all to me.

I was shocked at how awful she was. she has previously been one of my favourite actors.

the end made no sense to me either. without trying to spoil it for everyone, it's like trying to end world hunger with one box of Minute Rice.

Saw it also. Cinematography was awesome but the story was weak in comparison. Could have been an all time great but they screwed the pooch with the acting.

I agree and it really pains me to say it since she's my favorite living actress.

    BTTF II

Saw it in my iCloud since I got the trilogy with a gift card for Xmas last year. Already saw it in theaters on Thanksgiving day 1989 when I was 9.

    Match (2014)

It's excellent. It stars Patrick Stewart, and he is just such an incredible actor. He kind of blows me away (also, I am in love with him, lol  ).

Most overrated movie I've seen in years. Pop culture references and random cameos do not a funny movie make. Apatow is losing it. He's become the Shymalan of comedies.

Steve Jobs - Much better than the Kutcher mediocrity with great writing from Sorkin.
    A Star Is Born (1976)
The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996) - Rifftrax commentary

The ending of this movie pissed me off SOOO much they resolved nothing. And didn't show the outcome of anything. Such a waste of what could've been a good movie.

Uhhh... so the Human Centipede movies. What the fuck?!?! :fearful: The first one is fucking sick and demented (though the sicko in it is a good horror character), but the second one actually gets to the point of being unwatchable because of how totally sick it is. Pretty sure I've never said that about a gore-horror before. It actually kind of started to make me feel like a bad person just for having it on my TV screen, lol.

I've never actually watched any of those films but a friend told a group of us the whole movie like a story. I still had nightmares. From the story-telling version.
I also judged the friend who watched & enjoyed it. A lot.
Those films just can't sit right with some people. And by some people I mean me.
