  • I'm actually pleasantly surprised at the setlist they played last night. 27 songs, and a good mix of new old. True Love Way played for the first time in six years. Probably not enough for me to go and see them this month, but if they come back around this summer, maybe. Be anxious to see if they stick to the same set every night, or if they mix it up. They certainly have the catalog to do it.

27 songs?! That is really unexpected. Makes me feel disappointed that I won't be able to go see them when they're in Toronto on February 26.

Was gonna say: that's impressive. Brought back some songs last night that had been shelved. Hope they keep playing this amount of songs. Would love if they start mixing up their sets like PJ does. With 6 albums it's easy to start doing so.

This used to be my favorite band second to pearl jam for a long time. Saw them a bunch of times before they blew up with OBTN. However, when I saw them last it was at the TD Garden in Boston in 2010 and I thought the show was mediocre at best, and short. New album is good though and hopefully the time off did them good. Glad to hear they are playing more songs and mixing up the setlists, especially throwing in True Love Way. Such a great tune! Maybe I will have to give them another chance.

  • I went tonight in Nashville, definitely the same songs. I think some of the order may have been a little different. Trani was definitely moved to the encore after Crawl. The production level of the show is high enough I really wouldn't expect any huge setlist changes.

i'm with you. used to love them a lot then they hit it big, saw them just about everytime they came to the philly area. I like Mechanical Bull a lot, kinda underrated i think. They are playing near me in another week a the wells fargo and eventhough Gary clark jr. is playing with them i'm gonna pass, too much money for me.

See, I find that disappointing. They have such potential as a band, no need to just pump out the same generic setlist every night.

I'm really liking the new album. After really liking their first three - Youth and Young Manhood is my favorite - the next two didn't do much for me. I had very low expectations for this album, but I like 7 or 8 of the 11 songs on it. After listening the new Pearl Jam album once through, I'd say Mechanical Bull is probably better overall.

    -DUCKS-

oh i completely agree. i bought both within a week of each other and i base it on the fact MB had more spins that LB haha.

hanging for the Aussie mechanical bull tour dates, ughhhh!!

  • I went... Good show, nothing special. One and done seeing them live at least for a few years for me. I couldn't believe an usher came into our box and handed us print outs of the setlist before they went on.

I lost a lot of respect for KoL after that move.

  • Same... I've never seen anything like it. I mean just typed out in Microsoft Word but such a downer knowing they run out the same 27 songs each show more or less. They could be one of the best live bands if they just played different songs. At least they look like the are having fun though. They are on a better path now than 3 years ago.

yeah saw they've been keeping at 27 songs. Decent set list but yeah wish they would mix it up a little. How was Gary Clark Jr.?

  • GC is the man. Only a few songs and playing in an area that holds over 20k when only 7k or so are in there is tough. I would love to see him at the E Factory or something.

I liked the KOL concert last night in D.C., It was a good show. I made sure I got there in time to catch Gary Clark, that duded rules. I'd much rather catch him live in a smaller place though.

Saw the show in DC on Friday, and my boyfriend (also a PJ freak) and I had a lot of the same thoughts:
KoL are a solid band and Caleb's vocals live are seriously impressive--seemingly effortless...I hope he takes care of that amazing voice! It was a solid show from a solid band...but there was something missing. It seriously lacked charisma and banter (we got some half hearted "how's it going DC" type statements throughout, nothing more) and at times it felt like it was just a generic go-through-the-motions type show...especially some of the graphics. At the same time a lot of the video footage and lights were super cool! Bit of a strange crowd too, so that played a role.

So it was kinda strange...we love KoL and thought they sounded fantastic and love their music, but at the same time it just lacked something bigtime. We want to see them again either in the pit or at a small club, we thought it would be a different kind of experience!

I'm going to see them tonight. I actually use to really like them but don't like their last 3 albums.

My wife won a radio contest. Transportation, food and a box. A box isn't an ideal way to see a show but considering it's kol I don't mind being far back.

I can't stand their new stuff. Really hoping they play a lot of older stuff!

If you have tickets for any upcoming shows I suggest selling them. I saw them the other night and it was by far the worst live show I've ever seen.

So, before my girlfriend and I saw KOL last night in Phoenix - the first show of the 2nd leg of the Mechanical Bull tour - I made my gf a mix cd of KOL songs based on the similar setlists of previous shows this year. I thought maybe KOL would mix it up a little so I warned my gf that some of the songs might differ.

Yeah... No... They didn't. At all. Same setlist as all of their previous shows this year. I can understand why. There's a lot going on on the screen behind them and the songs need to match up to the shit on the screen... I get it... But man... Kind of a letdown when they wrote an amazing song called Arizona and don't play it in AZ because they're beholden to a setlist they made last summer :)

Anyhow... I can cross KOL off my bucket list now. It was a good show... Caleb didn't mess up a single word. I think the bastard smiled once too :-)

Merch-wise... You could make all their shirts on etsy for pennies. Low quality stuff. Kind of surprised for a band of this stature... But what the hell...

Fun night...played just about everything you would have expected them to play ...would see them again maybe...

I do find a lot of bands' tour t-shirts quite generic in recent time and they are not worth the money (unless I get a great special).
