    Do Goldens always have huge litters? I don't think I've ever seen a litter of Goldens with just 3 or 4 puppies.

    Well my meatball is going in for surgery next Tuesday to get his busted knee fixed- torn cruciate in right knee. we were trying other methods but nothing seems to work... this is a last resort. I just want him back to his crazy self enjoying life and going for walks again. Felt bad there over the weekend, my son and I went for a walk/sled ride... and of course i said "walk"....dumb move by me and Ed gets all excited. Of course I had to tell him he has to stay home and with that that the sad face... so heres hoping success and full recovery of my meatball. should take another 6-8 weeks of strict recovery followed by short walks and such after that.

    didnt go through thread but anybody gone through this procedure and any concerns i should know about?

    Thanks guys! Norm its called a modified flo operation. Initial xrays back in late December showed nothing on the surface area around the knee so the vet thought something was going on internally and opted for an exploratory operation to locate and fix. Nothing he could see causing the pain and discomfort. As we were not satisfied with the diagnoses we opted for natural heeling methods and strict bed rest hoping the area would heel itself. Well now its Feb and we have decided its time. He will have to stay with the vet for 2-3 days after the operation for the recovery process and then home...

    We are contemplating taking on a puppy guide dog for training. Has anyone here every been part of anything like it. I have done lots of reading and think it would be awesome, I think I may struggle with having to pass him or her over at the end of training, tho. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    that is such an awesome thing to do!!! but, like you, I might have a hard time giving the dog up.
