Um, NO! Please re-read the ENTIRE sentence... I was clearly talking about the song... The other part of that fraction of a sentence is talking about Eddie climbing the roof- it's clearly cut off with the parentheses right after "section B"... Sorry to cause any sort of confusion...

7/23 was better & worse for us. We came at around two and were prepared with a styro cooler full of ice and water to share, but pretty much everyone had brought enough water for themselves the second day so we just hydrated us. Clear skies and a breeze! A lovely change from the previous day when we sweated buckets and neither of us peed for 18 hours.
It was great to see the guy from New Zealand, the guy from New York, and many other newly familiar faces again.
We met up with Clint from Ontario again by the concessions and visited for a couple of hours. What a great guy! He drove 40 hours with no ticket in hand to see the show.
When we took our seats finally we had more familiar faces and I had a great time visiting with the two older ladies staying in Ellensberg. Maybe we will meet up in Cambodia some day.
Our seats in section A sort of sucked because there's an arc to the floor and we were tipped to the left. It was okay until a guy ad his girlfriend showed up two songs in, and he needed to stand with his elbows straight out to hold his beers. DH and I were smashed sideways and front to back with me on one leg so this guy could hold his beer. Plus the man in front of me was wearing a cowboy hat, so I literally couldn't see the stage. Right before Betterman we left. It was soo worth it.
We left the floor area and started meandering the walk between GA and the floor. We were stopped by the astonishing, amazing and indescribable sound of 20,000 people softly singing:
waiting...watching the clock its four oclock, it's got to stop - tell her... take no more she practices her speech as he opens the door she rolls over pretends to sleep as he looks her over..
When you aren't IN the crowd it sounds totally different and utterly beautiful. To be completely enveloped in that quiet, powerful sound. I was stunned and did a 360 in place to take it all in. Beautiful. Beautiful.
Urged by security (repeatedly) we found a place on the terrace to take it in.
We sat up from where Ed made the dash to the roof of the sound board and managed to catch a pic of him pretty close up.
For the rest of the show we walked all over the place and met some more cool people and enjoyed the show from multiple angles.
I'd have to say I loved the first night best, but it's the people we share space with that make or break a show sometimes. So to all of you thank you. To the lady who wept during "Once" - you were beautiful, and the skinny little couple who held eachother so tightly during black - in that heat! You reminded me of so much, thank you. The guy in front of me in the Ament Jersey who I swear could spring 2 feet in the air with every beat: you messed with my view but I was happy to see somebody having such a great time! To all of the people who held out hands of support as I shakily made it across the row of seats (I'd been standing on one leg a loooong time), thank you. Hope to see so many of you again!

I was sitting next to Swede, who started the whole chant. Before I knew it, we were all on our chairs chanting. Even though the setlist was short for the Gorge on closing night, this was the most fun I've ever had at a PJ show!
Once I get the boot, I'm going straight for the Encore Breaks. I wanna hear how loud it was to everyone else. Anybody outside of section A hear it?
Anywho, thanks to all those rowdy fans in Section A. That made the whole trip soooooo much better!
Somebody on RM said the venue was about half full last night. Is that true? Kinda sad considering it was the NA closer.
someone posted that there was 17,000 on night 2...26,000 on night 1. not sure of the source of that data.
definitely less on night 2...grass not completely full left to right looking up from below. but it was 107 yesterday and no shade in that part of the state. it was also a sunday night and 3 hours from anywhere. some good reasons why it would have far less people than night 1.

All we needed was Deep and release for Ten to be "Complete" in 2 nights of shows... Including Wash and Dirty Frank, What Can I say night 2 was AWSOME! Another great show to all you people complaining about the length of the show...SHUT UP! Amazing set list, and you know the guys just wanted to be home... If you were at both nights you have no reason to complain...and if you were not at both nights...well dont blame the band!

Great pics, esp of night 2 (since I was there ) I was in the same section, except quite a few rows back (row 47)... Great, great show all the way around, but my fucking god it was HOT out there.. So fucking glad that big ball of gas in the sky went over the mountain 20 or so minutes into the show..

Another great show to all you people complaining about the length of the show...SHUT UP!
A lot of us aren't really complaining, we were just a little surprised that's all. It just seemed like the two nights should've been switched around, with the shorter set coming on the first night and the longer set being the closer. Maybe they wanted to make the second set just as long, but the heat got to them, or they were just itching to get home, or whatever. The setlist was amazing, and the show was rocking, but based on the night before, we just figured they would play a full 3 hours (especially since it's the Gorge, no opener, last show of the tour, etc.). I think that's why people were a bit shell-shocked once Ledbetter hit - I even heard a few boos in the rows behind. Hopefully those people aren't angry with the band for cutting it a little short, they were just expressing their desire to hear more. Hopefully.
In any case, NO ONE should complain about that show! For any other band, 2 1/2 hours is a marathon, and with the conditions as they were, PJ played with full intensity and gave a hell of a show. Nothing but respect and love for the band from me.
Gorge 2 had a hard act to follow in Gorge 1. It didn't disappoint, but it didn't live up to the former night. Gorge 1 was DVD-worthy. The show was top-notch top to bottom. Back to Gorge 2, I, too, was bummed that they ended it when they did...just a few more songs would've been right...but I'm just thankful to have been there.
That being said, it was an amazing weekend of shows. Just a few people to mention...
Thanks to Ben for the ticket swap. Our seats for last night rocked. Not only that, but I got lucky with 3 rows of short people in front of me and a clear view of the stage.
Thanks to 5 guys from Calgary for good camp-mates at Wild Horse.
Great job by Dave & Lisa with the CCFA fundraiser. Glad to help out any time.
And to all you poster hoarding bastards (one guy got 12!!!), just be thankful that no in the line accidentally bumped you and crushed all of them this time, but it will happen eventually. PJ has a song for it...Green Disease...try listening sometime.
Hey Man - Thanks for helping us out...it was great to meet you this weekend! Well we made it back after about 16 hours of being on the road!! (Great Pics by the way!)
Met some really cool people down at Wild Horse! .... and the Bus line of course!!!
and the winner is... I still say Santa Barbara was the best show... I thought last night was lame for Pearl Jam standards..especially when Stone was ready to play and no one else came back...was it just me..or were we expecting a great show and got a four out of ten?

I wasn't there, but any show with that setlist, barring any major mess-ups (ending half an hour short of 3 hours DOESN'T count), deserves a hell of alot more than 4 outta 10. Cut the guys some slack, would ya?
