Great show until the end. They started 10 minutes later tonight and ended 10 minutes earlier. The crowd did not respond to YL at all tonight. Everyone was in shock the show was over when they played it and nobody was reacting. The entire crowd stayed after they left the stage but no love from the boys. Stone's tech even hooked him back up to his earpiece and guitar but nobody else wanted to play any longer. Have never seen a PJ crowd so disappointed and somber after a show. Maybe the heat got to them. It was more hot during the day today but it cooled off more when the sun went down tonight.
  • I stayed up 'til 1am to see this and it's beautiful.

Will download the show just to hear "I won't back down"... Was it acoustic, by chance? I saw there was no pre-set at this show.... too bad...

Whoa. Bum out my buzz why don't you. The set list speaks otherwise.

B U T if the heat up there was anything like the heat in the Bay Area today (115 degrees!!!!), I can understand why they might want to get the heck out of Dodge.

....any chance (1) the heat at the Gorge combined with (2) the Sat. Ticketmaster fudge up combined with (3) the knuckleheads who left the Gorge a littered mess combined with (4) how increadibly kick ass the shows in SF were = the SF shows are officially the highlight of the West Coast tour... ? ... ! .... ??? I look forward to hearing from folks who did the entire swing.

I can sleep now. I have seen the Gorge II playlist.

Just finished driving back to Spokane. Solid show. The crowd did seem a little surprised that the band came on @ 7:45pm and the 2nd encore finished around 10:10pm. A lot of people were waiting for a 3rd encore, despite the road crew taking tons of shit down.

Highlights were Animal, In Hiding, Even Flow (insane solo from Mike, laying on the stage and spinning around), Rats, Satan's Bed, STBC, and Little Wing (full version--about 8 minutes long I'd say. Started instrumental as they awaited for Ed to return to the stage, then Ed sang the whole thing). Ed was close the floor of the stage so he could read the lyrics. SSB tag to YL was awesome.

I Won't Back Down was acoustic btw. Ed was also on top of the sound mixer roof again tonight, this time for Given to Fly.

Very good show--band can use a well deserved rest though. A lot of that was due to the heat I'm sure. Ed was losing his voice a little bit during certain songs but was fighting through it like a champ.

Biggest disappointment of the night was the Gorge venue staff. I've seen about 20 shows there and this one seemed to be completely disorganized compared to the rest of them. A lot of die hards around me who are Gorge regulars were also complaining.

    Amazing show.

Harrowing 5.5 hour drive back to Vancouver afterwards :) Damn tired. Off to work now though :|. Must write more later :)
  • Gorge 2 had a hard act to follow in Gorge 1. It didn't disappoint, but it didn't live up to the former night. Gorge 1 was DVD-worthy. The show was top-notch top to bottom. Back to Gorge 2, I, too, was bummed that they ended it when they did...just a few more songs would've been right...but I'm just thankful to have been there.

That being said, it was an amazing weekend of shows. Just a few people to mention...

Thanks to Ben for the ticket swap. Our seats for last night rocked. Not only that, but I got lucky with 3 rows of short people in front of me and a clear view of the stage.

Thanks to 5 guys from Calgary for good camp-mates at Wild Horse.

Great job by Dave & Lisa with the CCFA fundraiser. Glad to help out any time.

And to all you poster hoarding bastards (one guy got 12!!!), just be thankful that no in the line accidentally bumped you and crushed all of them this time, but it will happen eventually. PJ has a song for it...Green Disease...try listening sometime.

One poster per person! It would not be a hard policy to implement!

says there was an acoustic set. Did this actually happen. I don't see it on the set list, and no fan views have mentioned it.

I wonder if it was just too damn hot..

Ha.. oops.. that explains that doesnt it?
That will teach me to not read the entire set. It would have been strange if they didn't play anything of the new album..

tour page is in ascending order, set list in decending order.. Always trips me up a bit

Looks like they had a 30 song set to me. That is fucking long after back to back 30 song sets, all while playing on the surface of the sun.
  • A few of Ed's ramblings from my heat-warped memory. See boot when available for the real thing....

    >>> Tom Says Hello <<<
Before playing "Won't Back Down", Eddie asks who was here last year, and a whole lot of people scream. He says really? More screaming. He says, "Well, since then..." and everyone up front starts chanting "Hello, Tom, come down, Tom" a few times. He goes along with it gesturing and then says, "Since then, we've seen him, and he said to say 'hello' to everyone."

    >>> Who Vomited? <<<
Ed asks "Who vomited last night?" A few cheers and shouts.
"Who vomited on [someone special] last night?" A few shouts.
"Well, I'll start." (Raises his hand.) Lots of laughs.
"Who vomited on a stranger last night?" Some laughs, a few shouts.
"Who vomited on a stranger last night and are on their first date?" Some more laughs.
"You can always turn a negative into a positive."

    >>> Not trying to bring back grunge fashion <<<
After a couple songs, Ed says, "We're gonna say hello in a few, but, and I don't like to draw attention to myself," (as he puts his leg out onto an amp or something to a bunch of whistles) "but I'm wearing shorts in a show for the first time in about 12 years. And I say this only because I just want to make a point that I'm not trying to bring back grunge fashion," (lots of laughs) "But there's a reason!...It's fucking hot!!!!" (huge cheers)

(For the record, weather services say it was 107 yesterday as the high.)
"A compliment for us, is a compliment for you."

thats funny he said he hadnt worn shorts at a show in 12 years....thats not true...he wore shorts i think a couple times in '03...I kow for sure he did at the mt view show

OK show, but for the leg finale, waaay to short. You could tell the band wanted to get it over with because of the heat. Also, dont ever start a show @ Gorge before 830pm in June/July, the sun blinded me for the first hour behind the stage.

Totally agree with this statement. Last years show was 3 times better than both of these shows. SD was better than both of these shows were. Glad I did the Socal swing, would have been very dissappointed with just 2 Gorge shows.

Yes they started a little later...As Ed said "Fucking Hot!!!"

So cut a little slack, and as for leaving a little earlier?
I think the boys were ready to get home, and 95% of us saw night one, and of course......"It was Fucking Hot!!" So they might have been a little tired?

    Great Show

I feel very lucky that my wife and I got to see Portland and both Gorge shows, I will never forget it!!

Just got back a little while ago from Ellensburg, and I for one couldn't be happier last night's show. Sure, it coulda used something like "Hard to Imagine" or "Alone", but overall it was a great setlist. The "new" Garden, Spin the Black Circle (one my faves from Vitalogy) and Fuckin Up were definite highlights for me.. And believe it or not, one of my most memorable moments from the show (aside from fuckin Eddie climbing the goddamn roof for Given to Fly, RIGHT next to where we were in section B) was "Jeremy"... Yes kiddies, I said "Jeremy". Even though we've all heard the song a million and one times, and it's actually one of my least-listened-to songs from Ten for just that reason, hearing it live and being there in the crowd and feeling the energy from the crowd just sent goosebumps down my fucking spine. In-fucking-credible.. It was cool hearing Rats live, even though it's probably one of my least fave songs off Vitalogy, and In Hiding with Green Disease back to back was pretty sweet..
And to echo what others have said, sure it would have nice to have a 3 hour set like they did on night 1, but VERY understandable if they were wiped out from the heat- I'll still take a 2 1/2 hour set anyday. Me and the wife bailed right after SSB, knowing the show was over, but yeah, it was weird seeing 90% of the crowd sticking around, waiting for more tunes, even though they were tearing shit down already.. It was just uncomfortably hot the whole show, even when the sun went down (although THAT was the best part of the show :D ). Blazin balls out there all day- got parked about 1:30/2:00, put up the EZ-up (thanks to my wife for buying that at Fred Meyer on Thursday-best $100 we ever spent), guzzled a bottle of water, then started on the beers, all the while cranking the SD and Pittsburgh boots outta my truck stereo. Even in the shade it was bakin', but at least it was somewhat bearable.. After the show we didn't even stick around to party, I just wanted to get the hell back to Ellensburg so I could take a fuckin shower and get some sleep... Overall, a great time... Let's just hope next time they're at the Gorge it's closer to Sept like last year..

look I can see why it wasnt the best the heat was just insane I would not camp out to see anyone but Zeppelin and PJ in this sort of heat let alone work in this weather. Crazy shit did people pass out cause my mate almost did towards the end.

I had issues withthe amount of posters being released at the gorge almost impossible to get one.

Anyway tonight wasn't as good yesterdays show was worthy of a LATG style release later this year which would be amazing... It was more 10c friendly with In Hiding, Green Disease, Rats, Satan's Bed, Gods' Dice and Garden. But the encore with ed standing on the roof top for GTF (LK on night 1) was sensational!!! He just popped up out of nowhere. STBC was a nice surprise and the full version of Little Wing was just great 2 see complete with ed on vocals.

So that is my mini US tour done and dusted. All shows were good in their own way but the gorge weekend was something else. The heat got to everyone thankgod its over (meaning the camping part of it). Thanks to everyone who has helped me over the padt 2 weeks at the forum, SB Bowl and noe Gorge Amp...
