The List and its People

I don't get it. I've waited in line a bunch of times for a bunch of different shows. Never ran into lists until PJ. I always just made friends with the people near me and we helped eachother out. Whether it was for food, bathroom, or what have you. Then as soon as doors open, you're no longer friends. Then once you get onto the floor fight for the rail, and find eachother back inside, you're friends again.
That being said I made it to front and center for BuffaloPost edited by EvilTim102 onMine is mine and yours won't take it's place0 -
Fuck waiting all day...
I've said this before. First time GA for Pearl Jam. Walked into Worcester pit after gates opened, sometime around 630-7. Was 5 rows back between Stone and Ed. Time of my life. I really don't see the fucking difference between the rail and a couple rows. Unless the boys' sweat, spit, tambourines, picks, etc are the reason you go to the shows. Sorry, but enough on this topic. Don't participate! Don't make yourselves miserable by waiting all day! It IS possible to still have a rocking time people if you aren't on the rail people!!
Thank you

the way I see it...
The list sucks. I got screwed too...and it totally ruined my pre-concert-lining-up-for-the-show-fun. Did it ruin my concert experience? No. Not at all...I forgot all about the stupid list and danced all night.
Can you change the list? Nope. People will always be looking out for #1 and you can't change them. You can only change yourself...
Therefore...if it's that big of deal, get reserved seats. If it's going to make you that upset...get reserved seats. Otherwise, know that the list sucks and that this list is unfair. But also know there will always be people like "the list" people and you can never escape them...and go get pissed off in line...and then go rock out and forget about it!!!
I'm not trying to disrespect anyone...I just don't see this changing and when it comes right down to it...you still end up with some of the best "seats" in the house.0 -
I'm glad that I chose reserved seating. This is the garbage I don't want to deal with. I can assure you, though, if I was GA and came up against this list and people trying to dictate to me, it would not go over well for them. It would go down.I died. I died and you just stood there. I died and you watched. I died and you walked by and said no. I'm dead.0

I wasn't going to post this thread, but since my new friend from Ohio just text me and told me what she was dealing with in Oakland- it just pissed me off and I had to talk shit about this list and the people who run it. This is the sweetest person I've ever met at a PJ show (50+shows)- She was told that she couldn't leave her spot or else she was going to get booted...She took that threat literally. She is super shy and quite so I image she must be frightened. Her problem is that she doesn't have a GA ticket yet and she's one of the first in line. I told her to stay put while I try to find her a ticket. Told her not to take shit from these bullies and to just let the people around her know that she is going to step away for a restroom break or to grab a quick bite. I just feel bad for her... Such a nice lady who is simply trying to follow the band around and to see what it's like to experience the music from up close. I feel soooo bad for her.
I personally wouldn't have a problem with a list as long as it was honestly and properly enforced--- all the way to the back.Post edited by Boxes&Books on0 -

that's right, you tell 'em! I too went for reserved, I'm not dealing with this BS.
Plus, back when they had the old system and you had wait in line for hours on end jsut to pick up your tickets in reserved sections by membership number, you met so many wonderful people. For instance, I first met Mr. PJammin' here in line in Philly back in 2003 and we still keep in touch to this day. Granted, we had plans ahead of time to meet but still, I met other people that day that I still keep in touch with as well.
These people making up lists have no right to do what they're doing. You put in your time, you get the prime GA spots, that's all there is to it.Don't come closer or I'll have to go0 -
what happened to being a community??? :nono: that's just awful. I am sorry she has to deal with that!0

We got to LA2 at 6:30 in the morning and were numbers 43 and 44. There was only 20 people in line.0

That kind of thing is total bullshit. No one should respect a process that operates in such a way.___________________________________________

It was like that most of the day.0 -
I overheard a conversation where a lady told another guy that he didn't have to be there to get a good number because, "Do you know who I am?".
Yes, we all know who you are. You're the losers at the front of every damn line telling people they have to get a number while keeping the prime #'s for your friends.
I walked into all the shows 30 minutes before and was 10 feet away from the folks that stood there all day.Sacramento 10-30-00, Bridge School 10-20 and 10-21-01, Bridge School 10-25 and 10-26-01, Irvine 06-02-03, Irvine 06-03-03, San Diego 06-05-03, San Diego 07-07-06, Los Angeles 07-09-06, Santa Barbara 07-13-06, London UK 06-18-07, San Diego 10-9-09, San Diego 2013, LA 1 20130 -

I agree. I'm sure they've really good people.0 -
The West Coast is making way too big a deal out of this. Is the list unofficial? Of course it is. If you didn't have a list would there still be people pulling shananigans with their friends? Yes.
You are making much ado about nothing. There are dicks all over the place. And they will act like dicks. List or no list.
My advice - if you're not within easy view of the front of the line, don't even bother. I waited the whole afternoon and got 2 in front of Mike my first show of this tour. Folks kept lining up at like 5 PM way down the street and I was thinking - why bother? Is there really that much of a difference?
Well, at the next show I answered my own question. I went in well after doors opened, started out about 20 back and wound up about 10 back in front of Ed without even trying. I can't imagine folks that were at the back of that line were much further up. (Likewise I knew I had no chance at rail when I showed up at noon).
And if you are close enough to see the front of the line, it won't matter if a couple folks step in. That being said, I didn't see much (if any) of that at the show I stood in line for. So, I'm wondering where folks are in line that this is happening.
A kind of aside, but similar story (if you get my analogy). I was in line at the Philly merch booth and they ran out of posters literally right in front of me. So, as they sent someone inside to get more, they had me start a new line off to the side. As I waited, the person who ended up like 5 behind me in the new line lamented to someone that asked what the line was for that they ran out b/c the last person bought 10 of them. Well, I waited on line with said person and he bought 1 and each of the COUPLES in front of him bought 1 each - that is 1 for each couple. So, where this story came from me and the guy behind me had no idea. Point being - there is always some embellishment for effect. Not saying that's what's happening, but I do wonder why the stories keep gettting worse as they head west.
Good luck and enjoy the experience.Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.0 -
If this process keeps up, someone is going to get hurt. It's not a question of if, it's when.0

yeah, that list is a joke.
if i waited in line and somebody with a non official number on their hand told me they should be ahead of me i 'd kindly tell them to f'off.
it's really all become quiet a joke around here“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”0 -

Me Neither. Didn't hear or see anything about it in OKC or Dallas. Also, I would hope there security up front that would put a stop to people doing this and allowing people to cut in line?Post edited by red mos onPJ: 10/14/00 06/09/03 10/4/09 11/15/13 11/16/13 10/08/14

a list? come on!
and one that the list makers think they can delagate who goes on it and where?
Just another reason why some pj fans are elitist, self absored, entitled a-holes. someone deserves a kick in the stones...
im seeing more and more of these reasons each day why i decide i wont associate with other fans at shows.
im in and out like white ninjait's largely due to eddie that i liked to jump off of things as a child...0
