Holy WTF! and I was going to trade my awesome 10c seats for GA?? Naaa....
After seeing some friends positioned at the "rail" at Wrigley Field, I thought I needed to be in GA for my next show...to catch a pick from Mike or get a chance to thank Pearl Jam in person, but still I hesitated to request GA tickets during the 10c presale of this tour.....

    now I get it! :fp:

Thank you for posting this "Open Letter"....now I know I will be very happy where ever 10c puts me Tuesday night in Phoenix  and best of luck to any GA'ers who haven't been at the rail- I hope you get your chance  - can someone save me a pick or a copy of the setlist??  please??

    Peace
PEARL JAM in 2024! Dark Matter and MORE ! THANK YOU!!

That would be the absolute worst thing to happen to GA. How about just getting there when you get there, going into the venue, and having a great time standing wherever you stand?!

This ridiculous thread and the others make it sound like the show is ruined for you if you can't be first row. If that's the case, please don't go to the shows.

It's all about getting a pick or tambourine man :lol::lol:

I've been waiting in the GA lines this US tour and Europe tour last year and I completely disagree with the spirit of OP's post. OP hasn't been in a PJ GA line since 2007 so I'm not sure what the motivation for this thread is, said so right here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=209312&start=480#p5337747.

I don't normally like to call people out and prefer to mind my own business but these threads have been pissing me off and if you know me, I rarely get pissed off. If people who are against the list and numbers are people who got screwed waiting in line I'd be interested in hearing your bad experiences, however it seems like people who haven't been part of the line are the ones who are most upset by it and I'm not sure how this impacts you. If I'm mistaken about this, I apologize in advance, and do definitely correct my perception. Otherwise, these threads are just manufacturing negativity for a situation that doesn't even really exist in reality.

My experiences in line have been nothing but positive and in fact represent some of my fondest memories from the shows so I don't understand where all this angst is coming from and why we are even talking about it unless people who have been waiting in line feel like they have been wronged but so far I haven't seen any such person raise their hand. In fact, most of us have fond memories of being in line.

For reference, I waited in 3 GA lines for leg 1 (Worcester 2, Brooklyn 1 and Brooklyn 2) and also for Wrigley. My goal was to get on the rail (and I did each time). I only left the line to go use the bathroom, get lunch, coffee. I did not leave to go to the preparty, or go take a shower, or go nap. Neither did the people immediately around me. I checked with everyone around me before I stepped away, and offered to bring stuff back for folks (and others also reciprocated). It was a very bonding experience with fans I had just met whom I'm now friends with.

The reason for the list and numbers is to prevent exactly what people on OP's other thread are so angry about, people who try to claim to have been there all day when in reality they were not. It helps provide some order in what would otherwise be a chaotic situation. It's fan-run, it's informal and yes, in theory no one has to "listen" to anyone. However, the lines I've been in have been '"run" (if we must call it that) with the utmost respect to others so anyone not "following" was really the asshole. Were there conflicts? Yes, but we talked and worked it out. It was a great display of the spirit of this community, unlike this thread.

But OP, here is a question... if Ten Club takes over and hands out numbers, wouldn't there STILL be a line to wait to get a number? I.e., if Ten Club takes over and the policy is you can come collect a number starting at 8am on the day of the show.... in reality isn't this just another line to queue up for? Instead of folks showing up at 5am to get in line for the doors at 6pm, they will show up the day before to get in line for 8am "the numbers" line, no? Not to be a wise-ass but who then manages the line for getting numbers? I think the only way Ten Club solves this is by eliminating GA. To be clear I am not saying they should do that, I am just saying that is the only way THEY can solve the so called problem.

You people who wait in line all day, make lists, etc, etc ,etc need to get a life. It sounds like middle school BS.

Wrigley was a joke, in regards to this so called "List" you so admirably defend. I know for a fact that people were calling in to get their assigned spot on that list. And some of those who were calling in are some of the most active/respected members on this board. I'm not going to call people out, but I heard it directly from these "respected Members".

To the OP- no need to further discuss this. Stop complaining.
This is very simple. If you're in line- then you have your spot. If someone tries to pull this BS list at a show that I'm at I will object and not Give a Crap if no one else agrees. You guys can start your so called list behind me.
Been going to shows since early 90's and the way we would do it back then was, STAND IN LINE! Guess what?!?! it worked!! Restroom breaks and running to pick up some fast food and bring it back was all good- but stepping away for hours or letting 10 of your buddies cut in line was a big time NO NO.... You elitist on this board wont pull this shit on the rest of us. At least Not on the WEST COAST you wont!
This elitist crap only works on this board, not all fans spend their days reading this nonsense. Some of us fans are simply about the Music/Band- not all this H.S. drama.

Did you personally get screwed at Wrigley? Please do tell your story if you did. I was there the whole time. I can only speak to my experience, and it was a positive one. All the negatives associated with Wrigley had nothing to do with the people I was waiting in line with. The only reason I am very reluctantly posting about this topic is I strongly feel this situation is getting blown out of proportion by OP and does not reflect reality, at least not my reality. I am not elitist. I love the band. I love the music. I love the fans. I hate all this bashing that's been going on based on what appears to be what you've all "heard" from others, and not what you actually experienced.

I agree with this. Who has time to sit in line for 12 plus hours so you can secure a spot on the rail? I say use the bruce method next tour! I'm a father of 5 and work full time monday through friday so it's tough to get there early and wait in line.

There is a really easy solution to all out ticket 'problems':
-Give 10cers only one ticket option per show for the lotto (simplifies lotto process) -Do an ID check at a designated 10c venue entrance when the doors open -After they pass the ID to verify they get 10c seats, then give them the tickets so that they cannot leave the venue after receiving their 10c tickets (solves 10c scalping issue, apparently NIN does this) -All seats assigned via seniority (keeps old fans happy and in the 10c) -From those people getting tickets,
randomly select those who get GA. (solves all these stupid line issues)
-For those who get win GA and want reserved, trade with other 10c people inside the venue before you go to the floor

    See how easy that was?

  • But then you have other fans that use the list to be away from the line for long periods of times.

Have you experienced these people yourself?

The "list" is not made to let people leave for all day, it's just an extra security if the line is moved, for leaving for bathroom breaks, getting food, chitchatting with fans that are not located next to you in line.

My experience in the US is only one show. But no way did anyone where I was leave for the whole day, people showed up early and sat there. NO ONE I met wrote down their number and went away all day.

But, have you seen this happening? For someone writing so much about this list - have you yourself seen it not work this tour?

I wouldn't care much if there wasn't a list, I'll stay put. But for me it was a nice extra security. But I bet the same security would come from sitting next to nice people all day.

But I think the list-paranoia is a bit extreme.
And also, people who would be abusing it are ofc assholes (like the girl in another thread saying she wanted a number so she could go to her hotel and shower and shit).

    Enough people it seems.

I think it's part of the experience. Some people are busy having familes etc, well maybe then it's not for them. But I don't think it's a problem. Just like camping out for Hobbit tickets or whatever. It's part of the experience.
