I literally had tears in my eyes when I heard the first couple notes of footsteps, never thought I'd ever hear that live.

Same here dude, it was #1 on my list of songs I wanted to hear, followed by Of the Girl. Yellow Ledbetter and Let the Records Play were also in my top 5 I wanted to hear (Ledbetter is my 2nd favorite song and they didn't play it at my first 3 shows).

I had rail on Stone's side so when they came out for the first encore and noticed he had the harmonica in hand and Stone didn't have a bass (which would have been the case for "Smile") I looked at my uncle and said "if they play Footsteps I'm gonna shit my fucking pants" and wouldn't you know it a couple minutes later Stone hit those first few notes and I just freaked the fuck out. Amazing.
  • Footsteps was AMAZING! First time hearing it live.
    The crowd was great.
Another unforgettable night. Thanks Pearl Jam! And a big thanks to Ten Club also!

What a fantastic night!!!! Great show, band sounded great! Pendulum rocks as an opener! Thank you Ten Club.
  • Top 3 show PJ that I've seen! The energy and crowd was amazing!I drove from Saratoga Springs NY to Pittsburgh on Friday, 500 miles to get there and it was totally worth it. I haven't seen the whole crowd into a show from start to finish in a long time. Now if Pittsburgh could fix there traffic problem I might return.

I agree. This was my fourth trip to Pittsburgh (and still the best) but nothing has changed regarding traffic in over 20 years. Rush hour until almost 8 pm and all of the streets in downtown go one way, the way you don't want to go. Lol! Great arena though. I'll bet Pens games are pretty sweet there.

You're welcome! Glad you got to hear some of your faves for the first time. I've always said seeing a PJ show is akin to a religious experience (something Ed joked about in Columbus in 2010)!

I loved this show! It was my first time seeing Pearl Jam since 2010. The opening of Pendulum, Of The Girl, and Nothingman was superb. I really enjoyed hearing the new songs and Footsteps is a special treat. I was in the 4th row back from the pit in Section 2. I'm about 6 feet tall and my view was fine and the sound was great.

For those who are complaining that the ticket says 7:30 but they didn't start until after 8...have you ever seen Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band? They have no opener and have been doing this same thing for years. I bet that's where Pearl Jam got the idea. I think if they started right at 7:30 and wrapped up at 10:15, there would be complaints on this board that they could have played until 11 (curfew). The band can't please everyone I guess.

The guy to my right in the 10C section was taking up nearly half the area in front of my seat. I politely asked him to move over & he did but then edged back into my space. I dealt with it and still had a great time at the show but was surprised because this has never happened to me before at a Pearl Jam show.

I laughed about a Cleveland Browns fan in the 10C section. I overheard him say to his friend that he wanted to wear Browns gear to the show but didn't cause of all the Steelers fans there. What a wuss that guy is. I have gone to Yankee Stadium and told everyone around me that I'm a Red Sox fan. Nothing worse than some good-natured ribbing ever occurred.

Pittsburgh is a great town. This was my 3rd visit to Pittsburgh (saw Drive-By Truckers at Three Rivers Arts Festival in 2005 and James McMurtry at Club Cafe in 2010). I would definitely come back.

Holy shit, what a show. Waiting early paid off, 2nd 'row' directly in front of Mike, and got closer to Ed as the show went on and people moved. My friends and I had the absolute BEST time. THE BEST PART: I can die a happy woman because EDDIE WAVED TO ME! A small thing that really did kinda make my show, day, week, month, life... During Infallible, my favorite off of LB, I was rocking out, we made eye contact, and he gave me a smile and waved. I keep replaying that moment over and over again! Also, my friends and I all found Mike picks on the floor, which was an awesome souvenir! Who, btw, was super amazing to stand in front of. Everyone in my party got shout outs in the form of points and eye contact and nods and such. He's just the best.

Basically, the whole show was perfection. I was expecting it to be good, but holy shit wasn't expecting the tour to start off with such a bang! Also, to me, Ed sounds the best he has since 2006. Of the Girl 2nd song, whaaat? Gorgeous. So many favorites off of Yield, Untitled>MFC was amazing, as was Faithfull. And of course, my song, Given to Fly :D Footsteps was just beautiful. Whipping was tons of fun, and I had no idea who this Grilled Cheese guy is, but I like him because he was rockin out HARD and having the best damn time on stage!

New song stuff: So impressed by how well this album already translates live. Infallible, Sirens, and Let the Records Play were my favorites. Pendulum was a cool opener, McCready using a bow was insane! I liked it a lot on first listen, but it didn't grow on me from there. Since the show, I've been listening more and more and it's growing on each listen. Same, in an even bigger effect, with Yellow Moon. I always liked it, but for some reason studio it lost my attention a lot. Live it was beautiful. Let the Records Play was probably the song that blew me away most. It's just so sick. One word: MCCREADY! Infallible was another particularly amazing one, and not just cause during it Ed waved to me :D Sirens was GORGEOUS and I almost teared up during one point (almost teared up during Alive at one point, too). I'm amazed on how much my opinion of that song has changed. Used to hate it, it's now one of my favorites off of LB. MYM was super fun live, as was Lightning Bolt.

I love the new stage set up. The lit up bird, the lanters, Ed swinging on those lanterns, all awesome. Also loved Jeff being silly with the lanters, too, bumping them then trying to avoid them!

Random note: At one point, Jeff kissed Mike on the forehead and it was the most adorable thing ever.

Two small gripes: #1: Jeff and I made eye contact at one point and he threw a pick my way. A man behind me basically crushed my hand in trying to get a pick (that HURT, dude), and neither of us ended up getting the pick cuz it just flew by. So that was :( #2: If you are the lady that pushed in front of me, then pushed the 2 guys on the RAIL for a spot, I hope you know how rude that was.

Anyway, it was an amazing start to my PJ shows and I am a lucky person to be able to say I get to see them 4 more times! This band means so much to me! YAYYY for seeing them live and having the absolute best time! :D

oh fuck, I totally got lost in Pittsburgh :fp: :fp:

I figured since I have driven in major cities like Toronto, Montreal, Chicago, Detroit, Boston that Pittsburgh shouldn`t be that difficult.

50 minutes to get to my hotel

    fuck me I was wrong

Got into Pittsburgh to be met with some weird traffic jam that wrapped only around our hotel to get into the parking garage. It took 3.5 hours to get to pittsburgh, 1 hour to get around our hotel.

Anyways. I had won seats on Global Citizen and was pleased to see them land right next to the corner of the stage on Stone's side, 6th row. Pretty much perfect. Best seats I ever had for Pearl Jam.

Pendulum was amazing as an opener. A song in hearing it on the album I was lukewarm on... but in a live show, opening, it is in its element and is bone chilling.
Then Of the Girl and Nothingman made for a great start.
Was very happy to get the double-play of RVM and Porch.
Speed of Sound is a nice treat.
    Love Whipping,
and I would be remiss if I didnt mention the star attraction: Footsteps

I liked the Jason Grilli thing. We saw him by our seats before the show and people were lining up to harass him for photos and such. He was totally cool with it and accommodated everyone. I thought his "speech" and "dancing" were spontaneous and funny and adds a nice memorable footnote to the show.

its also funny, I brought a couple 1st timers down and was bragging to them how Pearl Jam never really cheaply panders to the home city by using the sports teams. Low and behold they had Grilli on stage and also brought on all those Pirates hats and helmets at the end.

Overall, very solid start to the tour.

Was wearing my Made In America shirt, and was in front of/a bit to the right of Mike for the majority of the show, ended up more to the right, nearer to Jeff, as people shuffled around during the show.

ah, didn`t see you, too bad, but glad you had an awesome show

the people reacting to shit thrown from the band into the pit are ridiculous

at one point, 5 people dropped and lunged like a linebacker at pics or stickers that Mike through into the crowd and one almost took out my knees with his shoulder like a football tackle

never thought there was a possibility my ACL will be blown out from someone grasping for a pic or sticker

  • Sound quality at Consol was one of the best I've heard! Or maybe it was the band just being a little more wound up than usual. Does anyone know if there will be bootlegs?

BEST FUCKING NIGHT EVER!!! Got in line for GA at 11 or so, got rail on Stones side! I lost it when they played of the girl, all the new songs sounded so fucking awesome.

During RITFW I zipped up my spiderman hoodie over my head like a mask and Ed came over and handed me and another girl a tambourine, I couldn't believe it!

They played 4 of my top 10 songs in one show, almost unheard of. Of the Girl, Let the Records Play, FOOTSTEPS! And Ledbetter.

Nothing about this show possibly could have went better the set list was pretty much made for me, I got front row, GOT A TAMBOURINE and rocked out with Boom like 5 times. Perfect night, perfect show.

    THANK YOU PEARL JAM!!!

Congrats on the tambourine! I was about 10 people behind you in line and ended up a little to your left in the second row for the show. My girlfriend and I loved the spiderman hoodie and I'm glad Ed appreciated it too. You were most definitely rocking the fuck out during the show and deserved the attention. Safe travels man!

Thanks! Hope you had a great time too. I'm actually one of the most shy people you would ever meet but when PJ hits the stage I lose it. My neck and right arm are still majorly sore from head banging and fist pumping.
