Set List

01. Pendulum-(from the new album “Lightning Bolt”)
02. Of The Girl
03. Nothingman
04. Elderly Woman Behind The Counter in a Small Town
(Ed thanks the audience for coming, says he is happy to say he is in the city of champions and that it has been too long since they have been in Pittsburgh.)
05. Lightning Bolt-(from the new album “Lightning Bolt”)
06. Mind Your Manners -(from the new album “Lightning Bolt”)
07. Animal
08. Got Some
09. Given To Fly
10. Untitled
11. MFC
12. Faithfull
(Ed says he wants to dedicate the next song to a young man he did a radio interview with from the top of a bridge many years ago. Not too long after that interview the young man had a fatal accident. He is still in the hearts and minds of his family and Ed.)
13. Sirens -(from the new album “Lightning Bolt”)
(this next song is a request and I wish it would apply to everyone in congress right now. It’s called ‘Unemployable’)
14. Unemployable
15. Why Go
16. Daughter (during the song Ed says ‘hey ho-Franco”)
(Ed talks about his favorite running back growing up was Franco Harris. He read that everybody loved him and wanted to claim him. The African Americans as well as the Italians, because of the name Franco. Ed said this was new to him and he had just read that in Pittsburgh even the Irish claimed him but they called him Frank O’Harris. He goes on to say that Franco makes an excellent and large bottle of wine that Ed will soon be sharing with everyone.)

17. Infallible-(from the new album “Lightning Bolt”)
18. Let The Records Play-(from the new album “Lightning Bolt”)
19. Unthought Known
20. Rearviewmirror

Encore Break 1
21. Speed Of Sound
(there is some confusion about what song is next. It takes a minute to sort it out. Ed jokes, “were not gonna split the band up Pittsburgh...”.)
22. Yellow Moon-(from the new album “Lightning Bolt”) [during the intro Ed notes that this is the first time they have played this song live]
23. Footsteps

(Ed invites his friend, Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Jason Grilli up onstage. Jason gives a passionate speech about how great the fans are and how he is going to pitch ‘his balls off’ for the fans next year and it will be ‘our year’. While the band plays ‘Whipping’ Jason dances on stage.)

24. Whipping
25. Do The Evolution
26. Better Man/Save It For Later-(Charley, Cox, Morton, Steele, Wakeling)
27. Porch

Encore Break 2
(Ed mentions talking to Bruce Springsteen about starting the tour in Pittsburgh. Springsteen tells him the crowd is going to be great and he will love it. Ed thanks the audience for being so patient.)
28. Black
29. Alive
30. Rockin’ In The Free World-(Young)
(Ed introduces the band. He talks about how great the city of Pittsburgh is and all the great things the band saw while they were here. He thanks the people at the venue and the audience. He points at Jason Grilli and others and says “we have friend here”, gestures to the audience and says, “more friends than we thought.” For the last song he wears a Pittsburgh batting helmet. After the song as the band waves Stone puts on a batting helmet as well)

31. Yellow Ledbetter

great, great show. the new songs sounded fantastic, although half the arena used each one for bathroom/beer breaks. but the crowd was amazing, sang so loud during black, alive and yellow ledbetter that they drowned out ed and at times the entire band.

Looks like a really good set...some new ones...a few regular anthemic hits an mix of others including footsteps, mfc, and whipping. 30 songs too!!! Not to often the opening show has that many songs. Normally you seem to get a few less, maybe 24-25 to begin with.

Awesome show. Behind the stage seats are so very different but very cool too. I can't say enough how much I love the new songs. My 45th show. The band sounds better than ever. Really. No shit. Who the fuck was the drunk on stage with them though? :? Some baseball player? Whatever.

What a great show. The 7 new songs were all amazing and I couldn't believe how well/tight they sounded. I wish Mike had a longer solo on Let The Records Play. I'm sure he will later in the tour when he gets more comfortable with the new tunes. That pitcher from the pirates was a goof. I've seen lots of people on stage with Pearl Jam, but never someone who was so evasive. There were a few times he was moshing by himself, running across the stage and nearly took someone out. Then putting Ed in a headlock after Whipping was a little too much. You could tell Ed had enough of him by the way he forced him off the stage at the end of the song with the guitar.

If you're on the fence about the new album, don't worry. Live, these songs hold very well and sound fantastic.
  • Pendulum as an opener is incredible! Hope I get that at some point this tour. This looks like a must have boot.

Amazing show. I was surprised by how many non-Pittsburgers I ran into throughout the day. I talked to folks from Michigan, Illinois, Virginia, and Ohio - so if Pittsburgh natives made up the majority of the crowd my guess is it wasn't by much. Unfortunately, that meant that some of Ed's pandering to the hometown crowd fell flat as has been mentioned - the Jason Grili thing was something that long-suffering Pirates fans appreciated but I'm sure didn't translate for everyone. It was good to hear that there at least was enough Pittsburgh spirit in the room to properly boo Ed's reference to Cincinnati. By the way, the only thing more annoying than the Steelers chant is the Browns chant, which I heard several times and was several times too many.

The setlist was great, but I thought it threw off the crowd early on. Lots of slow songs in the beginning, mixed in with Lightning Bolt stuff that not many people knew or at least didn't know well. Things definitely picked up near the end of the first set though and the crowd was amazing the rest of the way. The LB songs sounded amazing, and I liked the Backspacer stuff too - especially Unthought Known. Lots of Yield too, which is always welcomed and Footsteps was unbelievable.

I had GA seats and ended up with a pretty good spot - about 11 "rows" back in front of Jeff. I will say that after standing in a line for an hour to get my tix, standing in the merch ine for over an hour, walking about 2 mies round trip to get a bite to eat, standing in the GA line for another hour+ to get in, standing for an hour an a half before the band came on (8:30-ish for those who asked) and then standing throughout the concert - my legs were numb by the end of it! I was definitely feeling my age, so if you have GA tix and aren't 21 anymore you may want to bring a folding seat or something to sit on for longer lines outside the venue - you'll be glad you did.

There was also the expected amount of douche-baggery going on in the pit. People pushing and shoving, cutting in front of others, spitting/spilling beer and other stuff all over everything, etc, but it was worth all of it to be that close to the band. There was even a guy doing some crowd surfing which was nice to see. In spite of all that, GA was definitely fun and I'll do it again if it is available on future tours.

All in all it was an amazing show that exceeded all of my expectations. I even bought a poster because it was so cool and I haven't done that since Philly 2005. Thanks to all who made it something special and especially to the band who could never disappoint. If night one is a sign of things to come this tour is going to be one for the ages. We're very lucky to get to be a part of it.
I smile, but who am I kidding...

Someone knows what time they came on stage, and how long they played for?

They started at 8:20pm and wrapped up at 11:00 on the nose. (Pittsburgh has some law/rule that entertainment events can't go past 11pm??!) The two encore breaks were very short, so it was a solid 2 1/2 hours of PJ...

I don't recall future days being played but remember every other song. So amazing! If last night was any indication this your will not disappoint. Seeing Mike start the show with a violin type bow in his hands for pendulum was phenomenal. Infallible and records play will evolve into great live songs/jams for sure. I'm also loving stones pencil thin mustache/goatee combo. :) After surviving Wrigley GA everything preshow felt fine to us. A few lyric missteps in footsteps and whipping weren't surprising and fun. It really felt like the 20th show instead of first. Even the new songs were really tight and have lotsa room to evolve. Thanks to everybody around us on Stone side rail for policing the assholes and staying involved the entire time. Sorry about my phone but I promises my kids I would FaceTime during betterman. I kept it low but it's still a pet peeve of mine. Congrats to the first four guys in who got tambourines and the young lady who also got one. Safe travels and continue to take care of eachother.

I just want to say how proud I am of everyone doing there part for Do The Evolution. I've made several posts admiring how well the Euro fans and SA fans do this and was nervous for us to do our part IF DTE came on. Well they played it and we nailed it and by the end of the first leg maybe we can drag it out even longer! Go fans.

    Grili sucks...yes, I'm a Tigers fan.
