  • I loved the show last night! The energy was great (I still have no Voice) and I thought Eddie never sounded better.

And agree with everyone about the late start time. Personally, I loved the idea of no opening band, but if your not going on until 8:20 why not have one?

The highlight for me was FOOTSTEPS and I just got chills thinking about how great that song was!

As a Pittsburger, I LOVED the Jason Grillie part of the show! I thought it was great having him on stage while they played WHIPPPING which is the song that is played when he takes the mound during a game. During the summer, I heard a locker room radio interview where he talked about his love of Pearl Jam and his "dream " to meet them. So I thought it was cool that he finally did. Great moment!

Loved the new songs, ecspecially Lightening Bolt.

    Just a great concert!!
  • I loved the show, it was FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC! We drove up from the DC burbs, and were so excited to be there for the tour kick-off!
I just cant say enough about the show! It was everything i hoped it would be. Of course the only way it could be better was if i had closer seats! Eddie sounded awesome, and Mike & Stone were just smokin! I seriously still have a smile on my face, and since im trying to score Philly tix, just cant wait to see them again!

  • The Pittsburgh show was absolutely worth the wait! Since I don't have the opportunity to travel to see the band, it was a long 7 years for me. The crowd energy was amazing. Sure things probably quieted down a bit when the new songs were played, but not everyone would have had the ability to here them yet. Even though I didn't know the words I was still able to rock out to them. I was so excited that they were opening their tour here, plus no opening act. I agree with others have said, ticket stated show would start at 7:30, but didn't until almost 8:30.

I may not have traveled around the country or world to see them or know every word/ song, but I can honestly say I LOVE this band. I especially loved how they appreciate their fans' support. Last night, I could tell the guys were excited/shocked at the crowd's reaction when they hit the stage.

Been going through a lot of stress lately and this show was the best thing for it. I got to dance and sing/shout some of the stress away. Their music has meant so much. It was an awesome night! :D
  • Great fucking show. The crowd was amazing. This was my 23rd show, and this was definitely top 5 as far as crowd energy. Even during the new ones the crowd was pretty into it, especially during MYM. I am by no means a Pirates fan, but I thought the Jason Grille thing was great. It's stuff like that that makes these shows unique and memorable. You could tell he truly loves PJ like most of us do. Loved hearing the new stuff, footsteps, mfc for the first time in a long time for me. Just an amazing night.
  • I thought the crowd was super into it except for a few of the slower songs from LB. For a few songs, the crowd drowned out the band. I was in 1st row in reserved which was perfect. I had a space that belonged to me on the aisle in the center section and had a perfectly unobstructed view to the stage and they were on point all night. Footsteps being my favorite song was done amazingly. Whipping was high energy and Do the Evolution and Rearviewmirror really got the crowd into it.

If you have GA and want to be up front, better plan on getting to the arena very early. If you have seats or GA and don't care how far back you are (not a huge pit by the way... a lot of room at the back and no bad places to stand) you can get there later.

My only regret is them not playing 3 hours longer and to myself for not taking the next 3 months off to follow them across the country.

Does anyone know when the site will have the show for sale?

    Bruce Springsteen News

"I was starting to get nervous about our first gig," Eddie Vedder said at one point, "and I happened to be talking to Bruce Springsteen, and he said, 'Aw [expletive], it's in Pittsburgh, it's going to be a smoking crowd."
Was it a smoking crowd? I've only seen vids for the new LB songs, but in each one the crowd seemed pretty lame. Was that only during the new songs? If so, I'm hoping the reaction gets better as the tour goes along and people know the new album better.

Literally smoking!!! I could smell quite a bit of reefer around my on the floor. Saw many smoke plumes coming from the pit area. Didn't bother me at I like to indulge every once in a while.

Great show, seemed the band was really ready to get the tour going. Eddie sounded very good in my opinion. I loved the new LB songs. I listened to new album half dozen times at least before the show so felt could follow along pretty well. Was surprised with such slow start but enjoyed them all.Took my daughter to her first show and all the fans around me were fantastic. Had an awesome time!! Thank you PJ for 20+ years and don't stop!!

  • Someone knows what time they came on stage, and how long they played for?

They went on around 8:20 and finished up shortly after 11:00. I expected them to be fashionably late, but I thought almost an hour was a little too much. Traffic was a nightmare getting into the venue so maybe they took that into consideration. If they would have went on at 7:50 or so there would have been a lot of empty seats to start.

great, great show. the new songs sounded fantastic, although half the arena used each one for bathroom/beer breaks. but the crowd was amazing, sang so loud during black, alive and yellow ledbetter that they drowned out ed and at times the entire band.

Same where I was, tons of people left as soon as Ed said "ok, here's a new one we've never played before" people all got up and left...... :o:o

    Footsteps...Of The Girl....Amazing!

I'm starting to think that they are simply waiting for most people to be in their seats before starting, whenever that may be... which seems like a reasonable plan I suppose. They probably don't like opening to a partial audience. That said, everyone should get the fuck into the arena sooner. Punctuality is the key to success. :P

Did you see the merch lines? They're generating a very healthy revenue stream by waiting until 8:30. Their scheduled start time and actual start time are working as intended by management. Album sales aren't what they used to be. Bands are adjusting accordingly.

First off the sound was perfect, nice lows, mids and highs, sound guys really did their job. Ed's vocals were clear, the perfect level, and his voice was the best I have heard in some time.
I lost out on the ten club seats but ended up in section 205 in the second row, not bad seats, but clearly not the best. The crowd was great, a little quiet during the new stuff but that is to be expected. I personally love the new album, gave it 3-4 listens before the show, a couple songs I wasn't sure about but they were way better live.
I went with my wife who is not a huge fan of PJ but does like a lot of their stuff. I met a couple next to me, she was a crazy fan like me but her boyfriend was like my wife, not a huge fan. Her and I ended up rocking out most of the night and we got my wife into the singalongs which was a lot of fun. A couple in front of us brought their 4 year old son, along with some noise reducing headphones in case the sound was too much. The kid knew the words to all the songs except the new stuff and rocked out all night, hands in the air, it was amazing. Can;t even count how many high fives I gave the little guy, and his parents.
The setlist was perfect, the only change I would make is to delete Yellow Ledbetter and insert indifference, I literally had tears in my eyes when I heard the first couple notes of footsteps, never thought I'd ever hear that live.
My wife and I went to see the giant duck in the river that afternoon, we were waiting under the bridge at point park waiting for the rain to stop, I had a nickel in my pocket and was about to toss it in the pool, my wife stopped me and said "wish for the 5 songs that you want to hear tonight" I got 4 of 5, so awesome night.
Forgot to mention that my awesome wife went to get another round of drinks at the first encore break, she was gone awhile and brought back a new hoodie and some stickers, wearing it now and loving it.

BEST FUCKING NIGHT EVER!!! Got in line for GA at 11 or so, got rail on Stones side! I lost it when they played of the girl, all the new songs sounded so fucking awesome.

During RITFW I zipped up my spiderman hoodie over my head like a mask and Ed came over and handed me and another girl a tambourine, I couldn't believe it!

They played 4 of my top 10 songs in one show, almost unheard of. Of the Girl, Let the Records Play, FOOTSTEPS! And Ledbetter.

Nothing about this show possibly could have went better the set list was pretty much made for me, I got front row, GOT A TAMBOURINE and rocked out with Boom like 5 times. Perfect night, perfect show.

    THANK YOU PEARL JAM!!!

Peter Parker takes time out to see PJ?!? Now THAT'S a front page story for The Daily Bugle! Lol! I saw you recieving your tambourine from our friend Ed. Congrats! I was behind the stage, 6 rows up, center. An interesting perspective from which to take in a show that's not designed to be performed in the round. The guys all made a point to acknowledge all 360 degrees of fans surrounding them. Awesome show and a must own boot! Loved the new songs and can't wait for LB!

They were falling down. Why he felt the need to not only take his shirt off but unhitch his overalls as well is beyond me. Poor Ed, he had to look at that.
