Well I'll dare to start.... 3 years, maybe even 4. I don't even feel like a grown up when I talk about not going to the dentist  Okay, that's it, I'm making an appointment this weekend! .... maybe. :shifty:

yeah I am around there, but I have had great teeth all my life, no cavities, no problems, so I banked some annual dentist visit skips, but my teeth are telling me that I should go, so I have to make an appointment soon, I have no procrastinating chips left to cash in.

maybe we can start a support group?

That sounds like a good idea. What's the goal? To make the dentist haters feel better about not going, or to encourage them to suck it up and go?

    so the work begins ,

appt tomorrow to see if I can get relief for the annoying as fuck immune to aspirin-ibuprofen-aleve pain/discomfort in two teeth. One right above the other. Cleaning scheduled for next week.

Good time though, open enrollment is coming soon and I can up my flex spending account for next year.
okie dokie, Having three teeth "fixed" next week after my cleaning. two cavities and something being done with the missing back half of a tooth with a major filling. Its really just begun,As I'm sure I have periodontal issues as I know I have suffered bone loss and subsequent gum decline.

cleaning went better than I thought it would. 2 cavities filled on top, one of which was pretty big considering. Bottom tooth repair(long term temporary?) comes after a different tooth on the left gets filled. Bottom tooth is missing part of the back half. Doc was talking maybe a crown in the not too distant future. Right side of my mouth is good and numb at the moment. So is the right nostril!! weird feeling for sure.

    Congrats to you too!

I think this thread kind of acts like that support group you were talking about. Once I publicly admitted that it had been at least three years, my shame made me book the appointment.

Fuck Dentist ... the last 2 times I went to the dentist, I went for a check and cleaning, my teeth felt fine both times but apparently I had cavities, got the teeth fixed and both time within few months I ended up with infections in my teeth in the general area the dentist was working on ... right now I'm on antibiotics and my tooth is throbbing. Not sure if this is coincidence or bad luck. But I'm thinking no more dentist unless there is a problem.

:o:o I have a cavity! Nothing major, but it's between the teeth, so I doubt that's a pleasant procedure. I go back to be tortured in 2 or 3 weeks. Fuck. :fp:

thats where the two I've already had done were and I suspect the third to get done this friday. I have a good dentist. very patient and thorough. topical numbing agent on the gum. round of shots upper and lower to start then another round mid way through. biggest discomfort for me was after the numbing wore off. teeth were sore as were the gums. My cavities were between the teeth right at the gum line.

Yes, I'm sure it really softens the blow when you were being bothered by the cavities. I personally had no issues at all - no discomfort whatsoever from the cavity, and I am surprised to find that I have one. If I had pain from it I'd be clamouring to get it taken care of probably.

and that was three fillings today in three teeth right in a row. went below the gumline a bit too.
Dentist said after looking at the xrays , "may need to do a root canal" Thankfully he didnt. Came REAL close though.

So to recap. Thats 5 fillings in two visits and more work on at least one more tooth possibly two to come AFTER I see PJ in Buffalo.
