Haha! Saw Kenny Mayne also! He was way taller than I expected. i am distant friends with Dennis & heard he was there so I looked but never saw him. I can't imagine him being asked to leave unless he was plastered. He's a big cream puff without the alcohol for real. Very cool guy in my experiences. We were tired as shit as well. Honestly, it was getting hard to keep the energy going & we passed out as soon as we got back to the hotel around 4am... (traffic). Highlight for me was "Mother". It was hard to hold back tears there a couple times, having had some similar mother experiences as Eddie... both of us back in our home town of Chicago. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I felt that song and it seemed like it meant as much to Eddie to do it last night as it did for me to experience it.

This show was completely different then any of my previous PJ shows. It had a unique vibe from start to finish. It wasn't the monster epic show I had hoped for but it was at least as special none the less. One remark that really touched me was how he grew up watching baseball in black & white because they couldn't afford a color TV & the first time he went to a real game & turned down the corridor to see the field it was a visual that he's kept with him... because it was in color... so green & full of life. What an amazing (perhaps unintentional) allegory for life and I'm certain that most of us remember our first look into a baseball park in much the same way... not to mention those of us who have experienced the "color" of life for the first time... It reminds me of another great quote.

What an experience for our first show. So many different emotions: We showed up without tickets on Thursday and began our search. No luck that day, but an awesome member gave me one of his custom-made shirts. I wish I could tell him how many people approached me about the shirt.

Friday, 97 degree heat, we stood in the sun with other members holding signs and looking for tickets. Shouts to Brian, Aaron, Pat for helping pass the time. We waited near will-call all day, I was interviewed by Fox32 at one point about my sign and the ticket search, and then the miracle happened that we needed. I saw a line starting to form in front of one fo the ticket windows, so not knowing what it was, I got in it, about the 8th person in line. At about 5:10, they droped tickets from a bunch of Field sections, and I got face-value tickets. After a celebratory drink at Sluggers, I was on the field, and extatic.

Then the rain delay - 2.5 hours between sets, and we were crammed into a tiny concorse where it was hard to breathe and I was getting stepped on and pushed the whole time. Even saw a girl fight, which would have been funny if I wasn't so pissed.

But all the waiting was worth it, and PJ ripped it up for more than 2 hours when they came back on. It was a Mike-heavy night which is all I could ask for. He was on-point and killing it on every solo.

Then the freaking subway - there was some emergency and trains were delayed. It took almost an hour before the first train came, and we weren't able to cram into it. So we got in the second one, and it was a total sardine-can the whole time. Got back to the hotel about 4:00AM and passed out.

Best day/night/morning ever though. All the waiting and trouble we had just made the songs so much more meaningful.

Can't wait for Pittsburgh!!

It's awesome they stayed and did the show, like someone said earlier not many bands would have done that. Phish sure didn't stay past the rain in Chicago last night. But the again hippies may Melt in the rain, who knows

Pretty incredible 20 hour day Flying from LA to a PJ-centric Chicago.
People from literally everywhere in North America
Such a recipe for disaster with what was really a 3 hour delay and Wrigley selling way too much beer and not enough water and food.
Truly amazing that the band was able to muster the energy back up and bring back 99% of the crowd that stayed to a PJ concert experience.
Our upper seats in 425 gave us great views of the lightning coming and going and the sound was really, really good!
Can understand people judging the "epic-ness" of the setlist as less-than but I guess you had to be there.
New songs all sound great and have awesome potential as concert crowd pleasers!
Would do it again without hesitation.

Given not much of an encore break, mikes and eds soloes gave the band some time to rest/ recover. Bugs was very cool regardless!

That's awesome you got tickets!! On the field, face value, 20 minutes before the doors opened... Wow.

Is it just me or does it seem like Mike keeps getting better? He played just amazingly last night and Tuesday.

I think Ed totally dropped the ball on the setlist. We waited almost 3 hours during the delay and he comes out with "All the way" into "All Night". I was in section 123 and 99% of the crowd was motionless until "Corduroy" Two new songs and "Mother"? "Alive" should have been the first song after the delay.

It was a great show, but I do agree with some of the setlist critics. It was a slow start for the first couple songs after the 3-hour delay, and some of the songs knocked off the list I would have rather seen.
That being said, it was an epic show. Then I saw the intended setlist and how many songs they cut. How did they plan on pulling that off starting at 8:20? I don't think the rain made a difference in the show, they couldn't have played all those songs in the time allowed, unless they ignored the original curfew or started at 7:30.
But then again, it still was a full show, and then some!
