Pretty awesome. Highlights for me were comeback for Sarah. The two new songs which sounded decent. Chloe dancer/crown of thorns, and all the way w/ mr. Cub, Ernie banks. Got up pretty close towards the end. During the rain delay people on the field moved to the concourse inside. I saw Kenny mayne and shook his hand. Also overheard from someone wearing a VIP sticker that den is rodman was there but was "asked to leave". overall great show. Tired as shit though. Can't upload my pics and videos until I get home though on Monday.
Haha! Saw Kenny Mayne also! He was way taller than I expected. i am distant friends with Dennis & heard he was there so I looked but never saw him. I can't imagine him being asked to leave unless he was plastered. He's a big cream puff without the alcohol for real. Very cool guy in my experiences. We were tired as shit as well. Honestly, it was getting hard to keep the energy going & we passed out as soon as we got back to the hotel around 4am... (traffic). Highlight for me was "Mother". It was hard to hold back tears there a couple times, having had some similar mother experiences as Eddie... both of us back in our home town of Chicago. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I felt that song and it seemed like it meant as much to Eddie to do it last night as it did for me to experience it.
This show was completely different then any of my previous PJ shows. It had a unique vibe from start to finish. It wasn't the monster epic show I had hoped for but it was at least as special none the less. One remark that really touched me was how he grew up watching baseball in black & white because they couldn't afford a color TV & the first time he went to a real game & turned down the corridor to see the field it was a visual that he's kept with him... because it was in color... so green & full of life. What an amazing (perhaps unintentional) allegory for life and I'm certain that most of us remember our first look into a baseball park in much the same way... not to mention those of us who have experienced the "color" of life for the first time... It reminds me of another great quote.

The rain delay made it feel like two shows. Can't believe they knocked a whole show out of that! Exhausted but exhilarated. So glad it worked out, and the place seemed totally full at 2:00 a.m. When they turned the lights on.

What an experience for our first show. So many different emotions: We showed up without tickets on Thursday and began our search. No luck that day, but an awesome member gave me one of his custom-made shirts. I wish I could tell him how many people approached me about the shirt.
Friday, 97 degree heat, we stood in the sun with other members holding signs and looking for tickets. Shouts to Brian, Aaron, Pat for helping pass the time. We waited near will-call all day, I was interviewed by Fox32 at one point about my sign and the ticket search, and then the miracle happened that we needed. I saw a line starting to form in front of one fo the ticket windows, so not knowing what it was, I got in it, about the 8th person in line. At about 5:10, they droped tickets from a bunch of Field sections, and I got face-value tickets. After a celebratory drink at Sluggers, I was on the field, and extatic.
Then the rain delay - 2.5 hours between sets, and we were crammed into a tiny concorse where it was hard to breathe and I was getting stepped on and pushed the whole time. Even saw a girl fight, which would have been funny if I wasn't so pissed.
But all the waiting was worth it, and PJ ripped it up for more than 2 hours when they came back on. It was a Mike-heavy night which is all I could ask for. He was on-point and killing it on every solo.
Then the freaking subway - there was some emergency and trains were delayed. It took almost an hour before the first train came, and we weren't able to cram into it. So we got in the second one, and it was a total sardine-can the whole time. Got back to the hotel about 4:00AM and passed out.
Best day/night/morning ever though. All the waiting and trouble we had just made the songs so much more meaningful.

I enjoyed myself as always, but it was definitely a weird vibe with everyone being exhausted and sober by the time they went back on. After the first 5 songs I was expecting a show in the real of Spectrum 4 but after a 2:45 rain delay they did the best they could. Still not sure how I feel but setlist wise it was top 3 for me but as far as the amount of fun I had... Eh not exactly near the top.
Not that I didn't have a blast but the fact that they pulled of a close to full show is great. I'll never or give them for cutting Man of the Hour. I'm feeling like I will never catch that one no matter how hard I try.
It's awesome they stayed and did the show, like someone said earlier not many bands would have done that. Phish sure didn't stay past the rain in Chicago last night. But the again hippies may Melt in the rain, who knows

Pretty incredible 20 hour day Flying from LA to a PJ-centric Chicago.
People from literally everywhere in North America
Such a recipe for disaster with what was really a 3 hour delay and Wrigley selling way too much beer and not enough water and food.
Truly amazing that the band was able to muster the energy back up and bring back 99% of the crowd that stayed to a PJ concert experience.
Our upper seats in 425 gave us great views of the lightning coming and going and the sound was really, really good!
Can understand people judging the "epic-ness" of the setlist as less-than but I guess you had to be there.
New songs all sound great and have awesome potential as concert crowd pleasers!
Would do it again without hesitation.
Listen to the show on the Earthcam, the band sounded like they were rushing through the set to get it in before the curfew; you have wonder why Eddie didn't cut at least that Leatherman/Eruption/Bugs trio to buy more time and perhaps fit in Alive and Betterman in at the end. Weird that they stayed committed to that setlist knowing they were up against the curfew...
Given not much of an encore break, mikes and eds soloes gave the band some time to rest/ recover. Bugs was very cool regardless!

I've lived in Chicagoland all my life, and am a lifelong Cub fan. Just seeing things like 'An eveing with Pearl Jam' spelled out on the out of town scoreboard and the Seattle and PJ flags flying out near the marque gave me chills.
The band sounded fucking fantastic. Holy shit.
We were in GA. Looking back at the first and second levels of the stadium, you could tell people were rocking out all the way to the back.
The weather delay was unfortunate, but Ed told us we were going to get through it together, and we did. Everyone handled it really well. We hung out outside, had some drinks, met dome cool people from all over the country, and tried to make the best of it.
This being as special an event as it was, just calling it a night and issuing refunds or rescheduling the show was not as 'easy' as it usually would be. I can't help but wonder if there wasn't some pressure in the band to do just that when it looked like there was more severe weather on the way in. Coming back on after two hours probably wasn't easy for them. Their dedication cannot be understated.
It was an amazing night. Tremendous energy from the guys. A great group of people who were willing to wait out the storm, then went back and rocked out some more.
For what it's worth, I don't know a single who left 'deflated.' I was fucking exhausted, as were the others in my group. The states may look similar from the outside, but they are miles apart.

That's awesome you got tickets!! On the field, face value, 20 minutes before the doors opened... Wow.

Is it just me or does it seem like Mike keeps getting better? He played just amazingly last night and Tuesday.
Not that I didn't have a blast but the fact that they pulled of a close to full show is great. I'll never or give them for cutting Man of the Hour. I'm feeling like I will never catch that one no matter how hard I try.
I cringed last night when I saw that they had planned to play it. My wife has been dying to see that one and she's been with me at every show I've ever been to except for two -- Chicago night 1 in 2009 and London this past Tuesday. They played it at both shows.
I think Ed totally dropped the ball on the setlist. We waited almost 3 hours during the delay and he comes out with "All the way" into "All Night". I was in section 123 and 99% of the crowd was motionless until "Corduroy" Two new songs and "Mother"? "Alive" should have been the first song after the delay.
To the newly engaged couple on the rail, I'd like to be one of the first to congratulate you from the Ten Club. Send me a message and I'll email you photos I took.
Nick
It was a great show, but I do agree with some of the setlist critics. It was a slow start for the first couple songs after the 3-hour delay, and some of the songs knocked off the list I would have rather seen.
That being said, it was an epic show. Then I saw the intended setlist and how many songs they cut. How did they plan on pulling that off starting at 8:20? I don't think the rain made a difference in the show, they couldn't have played all those songs in the time allowed, unless they ignored the original curfew or started at 7:30.
But then again, it still was a full show, and then some!
I was lucky enough to be in Sec. B. last night. so many empty seats around us, I couldn't help but think of all the fans who were desperate for tickets.
this is another down side of the lottery system...everyone who is a member puts in for the lottery, including casual fans.
there was a man and his wife in the row in front of us (I dont know if they were their tickets or they paid a 10C member for them) who strolled in after 3 or 4 songs. the guy sat down (couldnt see cuz everyone around him was standing and had no interest in anything other than his fries) and the woman was chugging beers. they were there for all of 3 songs until the delay, after which they did not return.
with the new system, this will be happening at every show. the old way was rough, but at least the people who got tickets really wanted to be there.
I'm not sure what everyone is raving about. I was at the show last nite, on the field in fan club GA. Everyone knew that a storm was coming at some point in the nite. For the band to take the stage almost an hour later knowing this is completely ridiculous. It is disrespectful to any paying customer to do this but when a known storm is on the horizon, this is unacceptable. We left the stadium once the field was evacuated. After being at a game there last year in which a rain delay occurred, we knew that the one hour delay told by EV was a lie. We went to friend's condo two blocks away and listened from rooftop. Also, who wants to spend the additional time having to pay Wrigley prices for beer/soda/water/food? Plus, the stadium is so old that anyone there last nite can attest to just how awful it is to be stuck in the stadium in that muggy weather w/ so many people.
The setlist was lame. How do you open with such slow songs, have a 2.5 hour rain delay and then return w/ more slow drab? Ridiculous. I will be canceling my membership after I send an email to the Ten Club explaining all my dissatisfaction w/ the organization of the merchandise vendors (waited in line from 9:30 to 2:30 to be told that all the posters had sold out to then walk by same merchandise booth one hour later to pick up my tickets at will call to see that the booth was completely restocked. Only had one register to take transactions and only 3 employees that didn't know what they were doing. What a joke) to the disrespect displayed by the band to play an hour late. No excuse for that.

Ugh. Yes I would've gladly filled one of those empty seats. And would've traded my table at the cubby bear/vines to the meathead eating the fries for his ticket.
I need a strength & conditioning coach to go through another show like last night. The rain delay definitely took the wind out of some people, but a few songs in everyone was ready to go.
You could see a little resentment in Eddie with the weather conditions. Seemed fitting Wrigley Field would put a little curse on this huge show for him. But damn, the band dug deep to make sure it was a memorable show.
Took a friend to his first show, and the look on his face reminds me of how I felt at my first show and quite possibly how Eddie looked when he first set foot in Wrigley. Some of us are lucky to have seen this band do amazing things multiple times before, yet some people are still witnessing this awesome band for the first time.
Only regrets are the weather affecting the show and/or the lack of a two-night stand.

It happens. See an MsG show and come back, spectrum set lists blew this out of the water
2 new songs, who cares, noticing original and new, slow status, a rain delay
Looks like an average show to me, I challenge anyone who was at MSGII 2010 to say Wrigley was better
This show had all aspects of being epic before the weather cut 25% of the setlist. And much like the Cubs, falling short of expectations is nothing new here.
But that's also what will make this show memorable. As if the band was fighting its way out of a potentially disastrous evening by willing themselves through what could have been easily a cancelled show (Pitchfork Fest and Phish stopped early).
The rain delay was brutal. It was about 150 degrees in the concourses and people were losing their minds in there. Just a sweaty drunken mess. And goddammit they told me in the Captain's club that they were serving alcohol until midnight and they shut it down at 1130pm. Really wanted some more to drink but I guess with the delay things were getting a little out of control with some people.
I always get frustrated with the setlists at the shows I attend. I want to start fast and end fast. I don't mind some slower songs but I felt like this show started really really slow. Present Tense was #3 and got things moving a bit but then we got slow again. Of course then the 3 hour delay set in.
After the break (with a few exceptions) the show was legendary. All Night, DTE, CD/COT were awesome. I really thought Faithfull and RVM were absolute perfection.
Mind your Manners sounded great live. Lightning Bolt sounded good but I need to hear it again....
Was anyone else a little put off by Future Days when they booted Boom out and had BO'B play keys? And did the keyboard intro and ending remind you of old Lionel Ritchie tunes? I mean seriously....how the hell did that get on a Pearl Jam album? Maybe I'm jumping the gun but that just sounded goofy....not the song, just the keyboard is what I'm referring to.
I was disappointed to not see any songs from Binaural or Riot Act. Seems like some of the slow stuff could have been tweaked for at least one song from each. Did we really need to hear Bugs? That didn't go over well. Give me Cropduster or Insignificance in its place.
All bitching aside, these guys are absolute professionals. I knew that going in but last night confirmed it. Just a fucking awesome band and I'm glad to be around to witness it.

Anyone else have an absolutely miserable time during the rain delay?
I was in the GA pit, and was told to go into the tunnel where most of the VIP's were. They yelled at us, threatened to kick us out or remove your VIP sticker if you had one, for not moving fast enough, even though it was so packed we couldn't take a step in any direction. Finally after 2 hours it cleared up enough in the tunnel to where we would walk around.
When I asked to use the restroom, they pointed to one around the corner. When I tried to return they would not let me return in that direction. I pleaded for 15 minutes, informing them that my wife is over in that direction, they said too bad, meet her at the show. When I told them we have GA tickets and it was going to be tough to find her during the show, so they said to meet her after the show then.
I don't see the point in yelling and threatening fans who were trying to comply, we can only move as fast as the mob in front of us. Then to tell me I need to ditch my wife? Unacceptable. I hope Wrigley finds another source for security.

Wow.
that may be it...
No. It's just just you. He is absolutely killing it.
we don't need lyrics, we sing Argentina way

That being said, it was an epic show. Then I saw the intended setlist and how many songs they cut. How did they plan on pulling that off starting at 8:20? I don't think the rain made a difference in the show, they couldn't have played all those songs in the time allowed, unless they ignored the original curfew or started at 7:30.
But then again, it still was a full show, and then some!
this is another down side of the lottery system...everyone who is a member puts in for the lottery, including casual fans.
there was a man and his wife in the row in front of us (I dont know if they were their tickets or they paid a 10C member for them) who strolled in after 3 or 4 songs. the guy sat down (couldnt see cuz everyone around him was standing and had no interest in anything other than his fries) and the woman was chugging beers. they were there for all of 3 songs until the delay, after which they did not return.
with the new system, this will be happening at every show. the old way was rough, but at least the people who got tickets really wanted to be there.

Someone needs a hug.

I feel for my friends who lost their vantage spot after queuing overnight ....very bad. But in terms of the band - totally faultless.
Every pj show is a great night, seems this one was continuing their fine footprint
