After 19 years, so long Ten Club.
I have been in the Ten Club since 1994. I have every Christmas (or holiday) single released. I have a 108xxx number. I have only been to 3 shows during that time period (I was living in St. Paul at the time). The first in 1995 in Milwaukee. The second time in 1998 in Minneapolis. I did not buy tickets to multiple shows nor did I road trip to see them after 1995. I moved to the Dallas area in 2001. The last time I would see the band live was in Dallas in 2003. I have continued to pay my dues EVERY YEAR since hoping the band would return to Dallas. I have see the price go up from $5 to $40 yet I continue to stay in the club to get the single and still retain the opportunity to get tickets if the band ever came to Dallas again. Well, they finally add a date here for the first time in 10 years! And what have they done with the ticket system? Well everyone knows. I do not have the funds to pick multiple shows in case by chance I would win more than one. I go with my one and only pick of Dallas GA and I wait all fucking day to see if I won. I wake up today and about 1 AM I was sent the e-mail saying I lost. No tickets. 10 years I waited for a show only to be shut out. Many folks on this board have been seeing them numerous times over the years. And a lot of you got your tickets again this time. I do not see the fairness in this system especially when you can purchase tickets for multiple shows. I bitched to the Ten Club back in Jan. when they did there test run to no avail. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. It makes no difference now if you just joined before the deadline or have been in it for 19 years when it comes to tickets. I know there will be many smart asses on here to rip me a new one or to tell me to stop my bitching. That's fine. So this is my only statement on this. Going forward I will no longer pay my dues and support this so called fan club anymore. Ten years and not a single ticket purchase yet I stuck with it. I tried the lottery but I lost. Retire my club number. Give it to the scalpers or the new kids. The bitching now stops but so does my money to the club and the band. Thanks. Hopefully U2 won't pull this shit for their next tour... Off my angry soapbox now. Peace.

^^^^ This! Why not give yourself more of a chance to see them if it was that important to you and something you really wanted? Unless you only wanted the pit becaue you have been a member for so long and felt that is what you deserved? Doesn't make sense, but good luck to you in your future and ther next U2 tour!0 -

Nobody cares how long someone has been in this club. Sure i'm a newbie but i know people who worship this band and aren't in the club like us. Seriously stop your whining and do what I did when I missed out on tickets to wrigley because nothing else worked for me. I bit the bullet and spent a bunch of money (500 each!) on tickets for an awesome time. Your amount of time in this club does not measure how much you love this band and does not make you entitled to good tickets. You and a bunch of others are acting like you are owed this, knock that shit off or just leave, either way nobody will miss your complaining.0

1st: Not everyone has $500 to spend on tickets.
2nd: Pearl Jam have for 20 years believed (and still do) that your seniority entitles you to good seats.

Sorry you lost out, I understand your frustration. But the 10 Club really owes you nothing. Potential access to tickets is one of the perks, of many, of being in the fan club of the greatest band of the last 20 years. They never promised you will always get a ticket, and they do their best to be as fair as possible to what amounts to hundreds of thousands of fans looking to score seats. Had you read some of the stats geeks' posts on this board, you would have realized that GA was a very hard ticket to get statistically and would have put reserved as a second priority. In essence, what your saying is given your seniority and the fact that you paid your dues every year but chose not to seek tickets, you should somehow have been guaranteed a seat. Life doesn't work that way. I wish you well, but I think you would be foolish to give up a 19-year membership because the one time they came back to Dallas you didn't get a seat.10/2/96 Hartford, CT; 9/13/98 Hartford, CT; 8/30/00 Mansfield, MA; 7/9/03 New York, NY; 9/29/04 Boston, MA; 5/13/06 Hartford, CT; 6/27/08 Hartford, CT; 10/30/09 Philadelphia, PA; 5/15/10 Hartford, CT; EV 6/18/11 Hartford, CT; 10/15/13 Worcester, MA; 10/16/13 Worcester, MA; 10/25/13 Hartford, CT; 9/26/15 New York, NY; 8/5/16 Boston, MA; 8/7/16 Boston, MA; EV @ Paradise Club 4/29/17 Boston, MA; 9/2/18 Boston, MA; EV & Earthlings 2/4/22 New York, NY; 9/11/22, New York, NY; 9/5/23 Chicago, IL; 9/3/24 New York, NY; 9/17/24 Boston, MA.0

So you put in for tickets they said were tough to get and are pissed you didn't get them?
Why do people feel the need to make these posts? Just cancel membership and move on then.0 -

Don't do it. Suck up the $40.00. I joined in 1993 and let my membership lapse in 1998 and didn't renew until 2001. I went from a double digit number to 218. Worse move I made. hmmm.... if your name gets pulled for GA and Reserve you only get charged for 1 option... so putting your name in for both choices doesn't get you double charged if that's what you were worried about.Post edited by Stephen Flow on0

It's a shame that after being in the club for so long that you don't realize how much this community helps one another out when shut-outs occur. Especially in a tour situation and not a one-off show. You may have lost the lottery, but there are/will be tickets elsewhere.
I've also waited 10 years for them to play Dallas. I've seen them once (Dallas 2003).
I willingly and knowingly paid for the mere CHANCE to get a ticket via my 10c membership.
Would I be sad if I lost out? YES. Would I spread hate all over the place because I lost? NO.
There's so much in this world to make us bleed...why add to it? A better question would be, who are you really angry at? The 10c for changing the ticketing system that the band wanted and felt was more fair, or yourself for thinking that your membership seniority guaranteed you a ticket?
I think in retrospect, you'll be able to answer that honestly.2003 Dallas

The band has. So long as 10C represents the band. I've never met the band, and therefore cannot conclude that the band feels this way. But for twenty years, your seniority in the 10C was the basis for how close you were to the stage. Therefore, 10C (The Band) believed in rewarding seniority.Toronto 2000

You realize you can buy tickets still during the regular public on sale, like everyone else that didn't win the lottery or isn't even a 10c member. I won one of the philly shows, which is cool. If I didn't win, I'd still be trying to get both philly shows and both brooklyn shows through the public onsale, now I just need 3. It's 40 bucks to get all the usual stuff and the possibility of getting early 10c tickets. There are no promises made of getting tickets and there's no vagueness about it. So sigh up/ don't sign up or renew or don't renew at your discretion. But does it really matter if you end up getting tickets through 10c or the regular on sale if you really want to go?0
