    Wow, even I'm not that much of a "gun nut". I guess that sarcasm and disrespect is the method of gun control supporters when they have no more argument. It's like the "Oh yeah, well you're stupid" playground debater.

    no, but saying that a crazy person would have had second thoughts about doing what they did had it not been a gun free zone is a ridiculous notion. My post was merely an overly sarcastic response to that notion.

    Really? I would think that the posibility of being shot is a pretty effective deterent for anyone.

    My problem with "arm and train" everyone as a solution is that it increases the chances that someone who is a so-called protector actually killing someone because they snap and just happen to have a gun on them.

    I walk around and judge people in passing throughout the day and I wouldn't trust 70% of them with a water ballon, less yet a gun.

    I find it preposterous that those who want common sense measures put into place are touted as wanting to take everyone's guns away, as much as those who are for retaining their (reasonable?) rights are touted as fanatical gun nuts.

    Both are over the top and coloring each "group" based on the rantings of a few.

    For me - and I'd guess/hope for most - it comes down to responsibility and accountability, in many realms.

    ...and that's taking out of the equation those who don't take the legal route in obtaining them - whole 'nother ball of wax there.

    I agree, some people are very irresponsible with them. But I assure you, you walk around every day passing many people who are carrying a concealed gun...either legally or illegally. Rendering people defensless does not seem like the solution to me either. "Gun free zones" do just that in my opinion.

    We are a violent country not a peaceful one at all ....I say let's arm everybody yes go back to the wild west days everybody carry on a holster , any problems at work shoot it out , you cut me off on the road shoot it out , you have your cell on in the theater shoot the fuck , you cut the line at the merch stand at your next PJ show shoot the kid ......

    I'm just glad I live in a community where we don't have to declare that it is "gun free". I don't want our society to progress (regress?) to the point that we need to feel safe because everyone might be packing heat.

    I'm OK with concealed carry permits ... I'm not OK with encouraging everyone to actually carry a concealed weapon. That is a path to madness.

    I agree. We should all feel safe in our communities. I don't want to encourage everyone and their dogs to carry a concealed weapon, but I do not believe it is the government's responsibility to disarm either.

    Thankfully, while I know there are many sick little fucks running around, I generally go about my business without fear but aware of my surroundings. And I feel OK with that.

    it was fear holding me back from learning because I am not anti gun.

    There are some great training videos for women that get you accustomed to the thought.
    Some awesome new ways to conceal that could save you if put in a bodily threatening situation.
    Easily concealed, quick response. Women the largest growing group of gun owners
    in the country, rightfully so, with the amount of victimization and the need to protect our children.

    Young woman with two small children experienced the terror of people jacking.
    Held at gunpoint for 8 hours in their car by two men, made to withdraw ATM
    money numerous times. She was a lucky one, not raped or beat.
    But can you imagine the scar this terrible scare will leave on her young children?
    Of course the guys gets away to strike again.

    I think about the children and what they will think about guns.
    Being a victim just once makes one want to be more prepared in the future.
    Given the chance the new generation will be more prepared for the parasite
    criminals.

    So if your not for any new gun regulations and you don't wan't everybody carying concelled what is it that you wan't ? , let's just leave everything the way things are now and the shootings will continue and you can bet your bottom dollar that we will have another masacre before to long ....Clearly something has to be done no ?

    I don't think we are even close to that, especially with Harry Reid in the NRA's pocket (odd isn't it how our political party's have split us, hmmm).

    Getting rid of 30 - 100 round clips that fire military ammo rounds does prevent massacres from becoming their max effectiveness.

    But the Dems are cracking. Unsung is right in that the proposed legislation will not stop the Chicago violence ... But that argument is null and void and actually suggests more extreme measures are needed ...

    But I doubt I will get respective response on what is required to decrease the violence from him as he dismissed me when I showed a shread of cognitive thought process ...

    This profile we are seeing over and over. A shy loner, no friends, quiet, intelligent.
    Same age group.
    Dylan Quick was deaf as a child and bullied. He was pulled from school,
    home schooled. He now admits he thought of stabbing people for a long long time.
    His knife broke or the spree may have been much worse.

    Can we encourage children to speak to someone about what goes on in their heads?
    Had he told his parents about this fantasy?
    Did his parents have warning signs but didn't know how to go about finding him help?

    Spotting mental illness warning signs young is the key. Removing the stigma and fear.
    Preventive. It saves future lives but it also saves the other victim, the victim of mental illness.

    Is there anyway to teach children to be kind to each other, to those who are different
    and stop the bullying? I don't know we seem to have trouble teaching adults that too.

    First off, yes, water balloon fights are 1000x more fun than water gun fights.

    Secondly, I agree with the first person in this quote. See, in the end I won't trust anyone with a gun. Because if someone has a gun and gets angry about a serious problem, they have a ticket out of their problem right there. It does not matter how "responsible" you are with guns, emotions will get in the way. I am not saying no one should have a gun, I am just saying that truly no one is 100% responsible.
