knives have more than one use. guns do not. unless you count hanging on a wall and collecting dust in addition to expelling a projectile at a target.

You can bash peoples heads in with guns, and attach knives to them. So that makes it more than one use.

Regardless, this thread isn't about guns.

This incident is fucked up. I am glad they have the suspect. Crazy wacko.

knives only serve one purpose, and that is to cut.

clearly, they need to be banned.

you can bash them on the head or use a bayonet, but those are only options AFTER you run out of bullets.

you brought up banning knives in your OP mocking the pro gun control position. nobody would advocate banning knives and you know it.

knives must be regulated. 2 inch blade max. anything more than that purely designed to inflict maximum damage....we must think of the kids.

in that case, clearly all knives must be banned.

we can not live in a world that allows people to walk around with weapons concealed in their pockets.

Time to shut down all arts and crafts programs. Those people have mental issues.

I find it funny that gun people use examples like this when trying to make their point. 14 people were stabbed and no one is currently dead. If 14 people were shot, you can sure as hell bet that there would be a number greater than 0 dead.

It's like gun people want to make the point for gun control advocates themselves.

Maybe the liberals and conservatives can make a trade off ... art classes for assault rifles.

    Do it.

What's scary is I can walk into any Blick Art Supply store and buy - without a background check, mind you - a box of crayons with as many as 64 crayons.

    What monster needs 64 crayons?

How about the comparison it is not the weapon but the person
I know gun opponents can not admit that though ... case gone.... poof.

Who's arguing we the anti assault rifle crowd wan't stiffer laws on these types of weapons and can you answer your own ? how do you get help to all the mentally unstable people who allready have these types of weapons ...You make it sound so simple as if we can just round up all the mental cases and confiscate their weapons ...Anyway back to the knives maybe this individual just couldn't get a gun for this crime all he could get was a knife just grassping at straws here ...

It was obvious the point the OP was trying to make.

If this person used a semi automatic weapon instead of a knife, the casualty's would be much higher. Hard to argue any different.

A surgeon uses a one inch blade for doing what he does. NOBODY needs a blade longer than one inch. We need to ban assault knives!!!!

    SAVE THE CHILDREN!!!

you can't ban everything  you must admit without the person a tool is a tool.

but this was a gun free zone... that is all over the internet... guess like we knew it would be
    right?
this is certainly a case to ban gun free zones ... add it to all the others
this knife wielding crazed person moved through many parts of the buildings first reports
said. If just one licensed permit carrying gun owner would had been there
much bloodshed would have been saved.

All joking and soapboxes aside, I feel for the folks who were just living their lives, minding their own damned business, when some sick little fuck with a so-called mission came 'round.

Round up no not thinking round up... thinking more like readily available care and empowering
families to get the care they need for loved ones.
Its a terrible realization I know that we can not control unbalanced people.
How many of us know or have known someone capable of lashing out?
We can only protect ourselves in any given situation. I am for permit carrying
of guns and banning gun free public zones that invite mass attacks.

Are you prepared for the crazed person at the mall or the grocery store ...
feeling is great preparing is better.

Wish someone would have been there to take the sick little fuck as you put it out.
    Hope there is next time.

Thankfully, while I know there are many sick little fucks running around, I generally go about my business without fear but aware of my surroundings. And I feel OK with that.
