is that your zoolander pose ?oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.0 -
Me and my friend John are both going to the Astoria, fans for about 12 years – never seen them live! So the 20th is going to be something special. I’m up for meeting up in the pub before hand and chatting to fellow UK fans, as there aren’t that many in my neck of the woods (Southend). I probably will keep the beers to a minimum as I want to be 100% on the ball for the show! What time is everyone thinking of queueing? I’ll probably start early to secure a good place!
I’ll be easy to spot cos my mate is ridiculously tall (much to the annoyance of many short people who stand behind him at gigs!) and tries to look like Morrissey, with varying degrees of success.0 -

Some days you wake up and sit on a park bench next to an eighty year old Russian architect, and some days you don't. I think this is my new life philosophy.

Me and the Missus are PJ Virgins, I have been a fan since the start, lost touch after Vitalogy then bought a Bootleg in 2000 on a whim, then had to buy NoCode - Binaural and lots more boots, then DVDs. Then got obsessed with going to see them. And now I am WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1My body is a temple come kneel at my prayer mat.

Dublin 23/08/06 - best gig ever!0 -
Right this is my first ever post so, don't really know what I am doing.
I have been Pearl Jam fan since 1991 and a 10c member for about 10 years. Managed to see them once in 2000, good show but Wembly is one of the worst venues around!
Still can't believe I managed to get tickets for the Astoria, I was walking around in a daze for at least two days. Been to the Astoria a few times, would like to meet up before hand and meet some fans as my friends and girlfriend have never fully understood. I live near Southampton so if any anyone is jumping on the train and wants to start early I will be heading in to the smoke around midday. Other than that I will look out for posts about pubs and just turn up.
Managed to get a ticket for Reading sunday and will be going to as many tour gigs as possible.
Its year of the Pearl! at last.Wembley 29.5.2000

Ok well I'm sure OFFICIALLY it's a hotel but hotel rooms don't usually have their own kitchenette, do they?
And frankly, I'm quite surprised at the lack of ensuite rooms in London  well we managed to get some but you have to be careful apparently or you could be sharing a toilet with the whole floor :eek:The Astoria??? Orgazmic!

We also nearly booked this place:
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g186338-d192150-Reviews-Kensington_Edwardian_Hotel-London_England.html
cos it was cheap but after reading some of the comments
They were pretty entertaining and all but seriously... I got more and more annoyed by people saying this place needs to be reported to the police/fire authorities/tourist bureau/etc. and thinking why don't YOU report it? Cos they were ALL saying it. They make you pay upfront for whatever amount of nights you're staying and they refuse refunds if you won't stay there cos of the standards. There were reports of semen on the walls, blood stains on the beds, people having to call the police cos the manager would not refund them the locksmith THEY had to call to get into their room, etc  It almost turned me off going to London at allThe Astoria??? I was lucky enough to win free tickets for the gig....I got an email today from the 10c. This is an extract from it....
"The box office at the venue will open at 6:30pm. Pearl Jam will play
around
8:00pm. There is no support act for this show and there will be tight
security, so please allow enough time for your arrival"
So I guess PJ will play around 2 hours, as there is a club night after the gig (unless they have arranged a late start - hopefully).
how long do PJ normally play for - anyone?
I think it would be a good idea for us to arrange some way of sharing our photos/videos from this gig (come on, you GOTTA take a camera!)
Looking forward to meeting you all soon
