    How about the government?

what possibly could the US government gain from doing this?? please, for once, tell us all why they would want to do this.
leaders in history have disarmed the citizens before they extermination the people and before they could dictate fully.......It's history......taking peoples right away to protect them selves does nothing to exterminate mental illness or evil.

of course in theory they COULD do it. in theory you can do anything. But you didn't answer the question. what would the US government gain from it?

This is the one argument I hear from the pro-gun crowd that I simply don't understand. Honestly, what difference is a semiautomatic weapon going to make against a government that controls the world's largest military with more firepower than the rest of the world combined? If the US government ever decided to go full-out fascist there is no way you are going to compete with their strength. They wouldn't even have to confront you face-to-face; it would probably just as easy to take you out with a drone. How on earth do you expect to stand up to something like that?

    aerial this is a lie.

hitler won control from the ballot box. he won elections. he had the majority of the population behind him. he was a popular guy. time magazine named him man of the year twice in the 1930s. he did not just seize power and start taking guns away. he did it through taking control of the POLITICS. the german people voted for him and went along with what he wanted to do.

The Syrian rebels have far less fire power. They're still making progress..not that I support this arguement cos I highly doubt our military would ever allow our Government to do a take over like that..

I dunno about Hitler, but disarming was certainly one of Castro's first acts. He didn't want anyone pulling the same stunt he did to gain control..

The Syrian military also has far less firepower. Honestly, every time gun control is brought up, gun advocates insist you can't compare gun homicides between nations because the US is distinct and more free than anywhere else yet when it comes to fighting one's government you're comparing Syria, a country with an insignificant military with aging technology to the US, the most powerful nation on earth?

Moreover, if your military isn't going to support your government's move towards fascism, why would citizens need semiautomatic weapons in the first place? I just don't get this line of thinking.

The military has more firepower than the rebels. It was just an example of how having fewer guns doesn't necessarily mean you lose automatically..

I can think of 3 great reasons to own rifles..riots, looters, and hunting (if you're into hunting..). There is always looting after a hurricane. Living in Miami, I probably should own a rifle..

There are still those that believe in personally response ability.....we cannot depend on the military right away....good people will die first trying to defend there constitutional rights.....Who knows how many deaths it would take before people start believing what is REALLY happening....you know the media will spin it as some crazy person not wanting to give up his/her arms....and those progressives that believe we do not have a right to bare arms will agree with the media...

i'm going out sometime soon & getting my ass a gun. i have the right to protect my family & loved ones against those who wanna fuck around. this is my fucking right (as a fucking human being, you'd think, right)as a united states citizen born & raised. i depend on me & me alone to save me from bad guys. the cops are 20 miles away. fuck that. i should have a gun under my bed. this is what is driving me... all these bullshit gun debates on here... shit & shit.

guns save lives... fact. they also take lives, innocent or evil.

fact is evil should be wearing a bullet. fuck it!

  • Aerial, I realize you're trying very hard not to get it because you hate being wrong.

Progressives do not want to stop the right to have guns. We want to stop lunatics from having ak47s and shooting up schools.

The woman in your story didn't have an assault rifle, she had a .38 handgun. One that nobody is trying to take away from you.

Mixed with your very blatant lies about how the nazis came to power, you are just trying to tile people up.

Much like you did during the election and you can see where that got you.

I dunno bout what she said, but just a little point on something you said..what is labelled an "assault" rifle really is just a rifle..

Your stuff is worth killing someone over? Last I checked, the punishment for theft is not the death penalty.

Im glad you got past how unusual of an excuse this is to arm oneself. Always looters after hurricanes? :?
I think there's been one bad hurricane in Miami in a few dozen years, but hey, whatever makes you feel safer!
