I don't think anybody died there actually. I see what you're saying, and said a few similar things earlier. Killers are going to kill. Doesn't mean we shouldn't maybe have some better gun laws though.

I'm Canadian and I'll be honest I don't know a lot about gun laws in the U.S. From what I understand anyone can purchase a gun without any type of background check and this I find absolutely absurd. I also don't see why assault weapons should be readily available for purchase. I don't think people hunt with semi or fully automatic weapons. However even with stringent gun laws, they will still fall into the hands of people with bad intentions.

The gun debate will continue and I see points from both sides but everyone ignores the root cause of these types of incidents. Mental health issues!! Perhaps more resources should be made available by the government to identify and assist people that are suffering from these problems. It is the same in Canada and I would imagine all over the world. Everyone turns a blind eye and these people fall through the cracks, and do not receive the proper health care that they require. That is what needs to change in my opinion.

from what i've read so far, the guy used two handguns that were purchased legally by his mother and had an assault rifle in the trunk that wasn't used also purchased legally. normally i would say partial blame should be directed towards the mother for allowing her son easy access to her guns, but considering she took a bullet to the face and is dead now, sleeping dogs lie and all that business.

Limited access. No assault rifles or handguns. No ammunition sales for those types of weapons. Thorough licensing process. With the hemorrhaging under control, shift focus to societal problems.

Something such as this would likely save your next group of randoms.
