I'm not positive...and at the moment can't point out an example...but I think they've done that sort of cold open before. Something that doesn't seem to relate to the rest of the show. Kind of like the eye in the pool after the plane crash in season one.

    PBM

Yeah they've definitely done it before because I remember keeping the opening scene in my mind of a few episodes while I watched them to figure out where it fit in.

If you haven't tried it already...go with either Boardwalk Empire or The Wire to fill the void

Yep, we've watched those already as well as Weeds, the Killing season 1, and Sons of Anarchy. Tried Mad Men and we just couldn't get into it. Going to give Homeland a try sometime I think.

Season 2 of The Kiling is awful.

Wow. That was a powerful opening...the slow dismantling of the kid's bike.

Can't wait to see the next episode to see what plan Heisenberg has cooked up next.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure that was the most awkward dinner ever...

Definitely watch Homeland. The first season was so good. It's a close 2nd behind Breaking Bad as my favorite show on TV right now.

Oh man, that dinner scene was great. Hilarious how Skylar just kept pounding wine and not touching her food.

Fuck "selling out", Walter... you're not selling out. Do you not remember your entire reason for getting into this. You can easily complete that goal now.

I'd sell my share of the methylamine for $5 million. Walter's just trying to make up big time for a mistake he made a long time ago with that company he and Elliott founded. Now's his chance to (financially) make it better and relieve himself of any risk on his life/freedom... unfortunately, his ego and perceived position of power are the shades that need to be lifted from his eyes. Imagine how tense shit would get if Skyler was aware of his potential out and he's not taking it.

Junior didn't make an appearance in the episode at all....
    7/2/06 - Denver, CO
    6/12/08 - Tampa, FL
    8/23/09 - Chicago, IL
9/28/09 - Salt Lake City, UT (11 years too long!!!)
    9/03/11 - East Troy, WI - PJ20 - Night 1
    9/04/11 - East Troy, WI - PJ20 - Night 2

Very brief appearance by Saul too. Besides the first couple episodes, there has not been nearly enough Saul. That guy cracks me up.

Loved when he apologized to Mike mid-performance for calling him a senior citizen.
