Awful. I don't even know that happens. I feel like the Sixers are Kramer when he's in negotiations after he gets burned by his coffee.

And, yeah, that kind of money for Asik is stupid too.

    hahaha

this team is so lost. I like the short term one/two year deals they have given out, but the guys they are paying suck balls. They are setting themselves up to have a lot of cap space in 2014, which is good though. I don't know how they are going to convince anyone decent to come play here, but they will have money to spend

they are going nowhere fast. as usual

Who are going to be the big free agents when we have all this money available?

no its 6m for 2 years. the 2nd's an option. that's chump change.

i've been good with the offseason up until that signing though. it's not a lot of money for a backup center but it just doesnt make a lot of sense to me. i would have liked to see them make a play for oden actually.

for about a year now, i've been hoping for an iggy to utah trade for one of their bigs--or something to that effect. could still happen but i'm not as optimistic as i was a week ago.

all short term deals (really like the wright move...nick young--eh, you get back some of the offense you lost with lou will---but i think wright will be a good fit for this team. spot up shooter. good from 3 pt range. bigger/bettter version of meeks). they are positioning themselves up nicely to seriously contend either next year (assuming they move some of these now moveable pieces) or the year after. so they'll be somewhat competative in the short term, while remaining uncommited in the long run. essentially seeing what they have in the next year or two. i'm cool with that.

by the way--i looove moultrie where they got him. a lot of mocks had him around 15. an athletic big who jrue and evan can run pick and rolls with. i see him getting a lot of lobs/allwy oop dunks when he gets playing time. harkless was a surprise. not gonna get much out of him next year. but he's a good wing defender and they're gonna need that once iggy is, hopefully, dealt.

    Funny. So inept

Summary of offseason...top 3 good and bad

    The Bad

    Philadelphia 76ers

I still have no idea what they were trying to do. One envisions the Sixers' brass sitting around one day and saying, "Hey, Nick Young is still available. Should we use our amnesty clause on Elton Brand to get him?"

If the goal was to take a free-agency plunge, they should have waived Brand immediately and pushed for some of the better free agents. If the goal was to take a step backward, they should have traded Andre Iguodala while they were at it. If the goal was to replace genuinely valuable players with mediocre players and still lack 2013 cap space? Then they did a fine job.

Philly was a great defensive team that struggled to score, but somehow became obsessed with "toughness" as its biggest need and signed Kwame Brown as the savior. Replacing Brand with Brown actually cost more money. It's still paying Brand $16.06 million this season to compete against them -- and Brown is, by any standard, a monumental downgrade.

Philadelphia did this so it could basically swap Lou Williams and Jodie Meeks for Young and Dorell Wright. The Sixers will be better at shooting, at least, with Young and Wright on the floor. Unfortunately, they'll be worse at everything else.

i made a mess in my pants when told of this today. i love that they're just in the mix. even if it doesnt' work out it shows me they realize their roster is incomplete/work in progress still. iggy for a big man was what i was hoping all these moves would lead to this summer.

and if it happens, and bynum doesn't sign an extension....fine, we will have a ton of flexibility with all the 1-2 year contracts they've given out lately.

edit--i'd think the sixers would end up giving up either future picks and/or another piece to make this work. fine by me.

Wow, the 76'ers made a relevant move?

    T. Young is now the senior member of this team.

now he's "not sure" if he will resign. he''ll be leaving 40 million off the table if he doesn't go to fa. but maybe his injury history and being closer to home may persuade him to take the money now? if he extends before fa, they still might have some cap flexibility to add more pieces next year. bynum instantly makes them a more attractive destination too.

also---with they get another 3pt threat in richardson. fell off overall last year but still shot about 37% from 3. contract isn't terrible either. as a throw in, that's not bad.

sixers open with the nuggets. that will be fun.

wish iguadala the best. that's a decent young team he's going to.

risky move with bynum's injury history and contract situation, but if they can get him signed I'm cool with this deal. I think they gave up a lot. Gonna hurt not having 2 ones to trade/draft, but bynum immediately becomes their best player.

still think they have a ways to go to become a contender, but I like this move (assuming they get bynum inked)

I hope the lakers lose every game next year. kobe and howard on same team??....ugh, dbag squad
