Last night was my brothers 1st show and my 18th. As soon as betterman ended I told him that was the best version I ever heard live, by far.

I think everyone complaining about last night's setlist has to be nuts.

I went to the Hartford show and it was amazing! But sitting at home and reading the set relay last night, I was sooo jealous of everyone who got to see "Hard to Imagine, Faithful, Off He Goes, I Got Shit, Love Reign O'er Me and Comeback"!!

Wish that I would have been able to see both these shows back to back...

It happened during the Columbia show, also. Not quite a minute, but about 20-30 seconds.

I am curious, as to why Ed was pissed of. He threw the bottle of wine at the backdrop then ripped that thing off infront of the stage.
He reached down to grab something when Mike's solo bagan during Evenflow, and whatever it was wasn't there, he had a wtf look on his face, , he grabbed his wine and threw it at the stage backdrop and proceeded to lambast his tech.
And again, as locked mentioned, during Black he had monitor isues, it he kept looking back for his teck with a major look that could kill and obviously his tech wasn't payin attention, apparently something was covering his monitor, a jacket or something someone had tossed and he couldn't hear. Eventually he grabbed it himself and tossed it into the security pit, then his tech came out and he waved him off.

Rayne, glad you enjoyed my normal seats ;).
I've has 2B the last couple of shows there, the lottery moved me to 1H (3rd row Stone's side), great seats still. Thanks again to 10club.

It was a great show, regardless of whether the setlist was obscure enough for your liking, plenty of energy from the band, and insane energy from the crowd. The ending to RVM was furious. Can't wait till Monday.
Such a great long weekend thanks to this band.

The beauy of the show last night was for folks like me who went to hartford as their first show of the tour and last as their 2nd, they changed tthings dramatically. For those who've followed them up the coast, last night's setlist didn't blow people away, but the band knows that 97% of the folks in attendance weren't at 8 other shows. They will switch things up nicely Monday knowing that many from last night will be there again.

  • Anyone have trouble with the cops ever since the new Comcast ownership? I thought Ed was going to mention this before he went into his issue with the recruiting station in the venue.

  • The "Better Man" ovation was excellent. Unless you were there, you won't get a true appeciation of how cool it was even after hearing it on the bootleg. All I can say that it wasn't the "typical" ovation.

Crowd energy was great even though there were a few assholes in Ten Club seating. No ticket line issues like Hartford had.

Also, got out of the parking lot in world record time (like 15 minutes)!!!

Looking forward to Monday's show. Hoping that the band unleashes "Satan's Bed" for our enjoyment.

So, as you can tell from below, I've been to Mansfield many a time ... energy of this crowd was fantastic --- borderline fanatical, in a good way. For the most part, the energy of the crowd was better than the 2 MSG shows.

I'll echo the Betterman comments, it was a moment to be seen ... (at least you can hear it on the boots) ... longer applause for that moment than I ever recall.

Intersting set choice, in that, I had friends come in from all over the country, sort of a reunion of sorts, and it seemed like they played a set right out of 98 or 2000 .... with a few newer tunes thrown in. Not my favorite set list (for me, both MSG set lists were better) but the crowd lapped it up, and was asking for seconds, thirds .....

The early curfew left the crowd wanting more, MUCH more. I don't know what the fee is for a late curfew, but, I'm hoping they blow the bank on Monday.

I thought we were going to get another Mansfield rant from Ed, he was visably upset at times .... but, you got the feeling they didn't want to waste time at all ...

It felt/sounded like one of Stone's best shows to me ...

Ed made a comment before Love Reign O'er Me that they were goign to "try" the song, but mentioned that it was a good thing they had a break before Monday's show ... perhaps they're a bit tired.

Anyway ... good show ... I had an absolute blast.

.... and to the folks hating on Betterman ... guys, this is a fanviews thread, take your snarky comments elsewhere.

This show gets better and better the more that I think about it.
The setting, lighting, backdrop - simply amazing
20,000 people singing, dancing and being part of something special was something special.

My rule is to focus on what was amazing, rather than bitching about what was missing. In this case, what was amazing was incredible.

Great set... love SOLAT glad ive gotten it twice... Reign on me is awesome... Eds voice is just unreal... comeback was a nice surprise...

Son of a B*tch curfew tho.... one guy said it a couple pages ago... solid B+ A- show that would have been A+ with a few extra at the end and ED having the time to hang and talk a little... Lets hope band gives a 7/11/03 MONDAY NIGHT! hahaha

  • They ended right at curfew time - wonder if past issues of going over came into play. Ed was pissed early into the show and threw his wine bottle I believe....... The shortness of the show - no reflection of the crowd - 4th show of the tour for me (MSG 1+2, and Hartford) and this was the best crowd - BY FAR. The minute cheering during Betterman was over powering............

You are high...I was at all those show too and this crowd came in 3rd behind MSG2 and Hartford.

  • I am amazed that so many people loved this set...I've been to 4 shows on this tour (MSG1, MSG2, Hartford and Mansfield1) and the Mansfield 1 show was the worst and shortest by far. Generic setlist, Eddie pissed the whole night, way more slow stuff and way more left off the setlist than usual. Dont get me wrong I would still go on Monday if they played the same, but lets be serious...Saturday in Mansfield was an average show...it's okay to say it people. Hopefully Monday is epic like Hartford was.

The crowd tonight was absolutely on fire tonight. I was at the Hartford show and this crowd blew it away. As everyone else has mentioned the ovation during Betterman was unreal. Ed kept trying to continue the song but couldn't because the crowd as going nuts. Overall, the set list was solid, nothing too spectacular. Love Reign O'er Me, Faithful, Come Back, and SOLAT were a couple highlights for me. Ed was definitely pissed off about something when he hurled his bottle at the backdrop. At the beginning of the set he mentioned something about an endurance test and the last time I checked a 2hr 5min set was not an endurance test for PJ fans. With the day off today, let's hope for a truly epic show to close out the tour on Monday.

    Hey guys,

It seems that the general consensus for Mansfield 1 is that the energy was quite good and the show could be considered a bit strayed from what many of us had anticipated. Forgive me for not given proper credit to who mentioned it, but someone mentioned that the meat and potatoes of the setlist seemed like it was from 2000...I would have to agree with this (having been to every local show since 1994)....All things considered (setlist, energy, curfew, Ed's angst, etc.) and how past shows made me feel...Sat. night's show was a B+/A-...yes? That's how it is being scored in my book. I am never disappointed, it was a PJ concert, I will always take what I can get...participate and not anticipate.

...That said, in reference to the title of the thread, let's consider the past. The last time the band played at Greatwoods they played Three shows. They added a third show after two sold out quickly. Ed stated at the first show that they would play the entire catalogue from that tour. They added an additional acoustic set an hour or so before the opening act on night three, to fit all the songs in within the time-frame & curfew...oh yeah, they went over the curfew by about an hour on night three. Any questions?

So, anyone's opinion is just that, an opinion...and we are all entitiled to ours, and they can all be different. I only ask that we consider the whole picture, and some of the love we've historically gotten here in New England by our friends in the band. It is slightly disconcerting to read how "disappointed" folks were with last night's show. I have a hunch that if any of us felt slighted in any way, the band will "make up" for it...they always do. I hope you all are there on Monday night, be safe and make some good decisions (saw 3 DWIs being given out by the itching-to-fuck-with-someone Mansfield PD). And a final word of encouragement from someone a lot wiser than me..."participate don't anticipate".

Lot's of love to all, seeing you and feeling the energy made me feel young and happy, thanks for that...and Thanks Pearl Jam for a beautiful night of sharing your music with us and making us feel closer as a community!

Biased Boston opinion on the crowd I think...it was good for Betterman..thats about it. You should've been at MSG2...that was an on fire crowd...Mansfield 1 was a whisper compared to that. Boston 1 in 2006 was way louder than this crowd too. Im not blaming the crowd...the setlist just wasnt keeping the crowd up...IMO.
