Hotwire has a GREAT DEAL on THE RIO...
Rooms are going for $50.00 a night / Checking in on Tuesday, April 10th & Checking out on Friday, April 13th THE RIO is right across the street from The Palms!!! :ugeek:
That is a very good deal but the only bad thing with the Rio is you would need to get a cab if you wanted to check out the strip. I guess technically you could walk but it's a good little distance and the roads that you need to cross are quite hectic in that area. Where's drummerboy73 when you need him?

...and if youre staying at the Rio they have the 24hr buffett pass for 39.99 (with total reward card) good at 6 different hotels....if you time it right you can get dinner day 1, breakfast day 2, lunch day 2, dinner day 2...eat as much or as little as you like for one price...no limit on visits.
I would not reccomend Stratosphere either. And definitely wouldnt reccomend walking. Its really not a bad walk to the Strip from Rio/Gold Coast/Palms. The area behind/around the Stratosphere is fairly high crime, shady characters/drugs. If youre looking to save a buck, just stay at the Gold Coast. (listed at $29/night for the 10th/11th) If you cant handle that, well......

I remember last year I was staying at the Luxor and I took the monorail to the Sahara. Did some gambling and missed the last monorail back down. I decided I would try to walk back. Got about a half mile up the strip before reality set in with the creatures of the night. I headed back and took a cab.

Don't be. There's 2 million people living here. There isn't a single spot on earth where you'd find 2 million people without having a few rough areas. In fact, anywhere near the hotel casinos are even safer due to their own security teams.

You have a very good point, there are definitely some sketchy areas in Seattle..plus I won't be all by myself so that's always good!

HERE I AM!!!
Yeah, I concur with the Rio being your best bet - inexpensive, close to Palms, shuttle to Strip, etc. - and YES, stay away from Stratosphere area at night. There's not much appeal in that area anyways, unless you want to do the tourist thing and and see the "World's Largest Gift Shop" :? or go up to the tower and do the rides up on top. I haven't been down there in years, other than driving by occasionally, and I'm a married guy with teenage sons, so I really only go to the Strip once a year or so if I have friends/family in town.
Other than that, looking forward to seeing you all at pre-party/show!!!

I don't think we're gonna stray too far from The Palms. Pool time, Party Time, Get our Socks Knocked Off by Ed Time, Party Time...repeat. We've hit The Strip many times. I really have no interest in going back. If the night clubs at the hotel are too swank for us, we'll be going back to The Loose Caboose!

I would sway towards the Excalibur still. There's nothing like staying on the strip imo. I hate having to worry about transportation when I'm there.
Right, if you're on the Strip there's always taxis, or hopping on the Deuce (double-decker bus). But if you stay at the Gold Coast and the Rio, one could definitely walk back and forth to both shows.

You know, like I said earlier on here, with all there is to do in Vegas, I didn't really set the Loose Caboose up as the post-party spot....but, it might just totally end up being that way. Especially with how crowded the Palms should be right after the show, and their high prices for drinks. Could be a great spot to re-unite with everyone and discuss the awesomeness of the shows.

I have an extra ticket for Tuesday's show. Section 203. I'm super interested in trading this for a seat at Wednesday's show.
Anyone interested? Holler back.
I hope we all fit...
