I’m probably going to be in trouble for saying this so I apologize to Kat and Sea and the rest of the 10C in advance if I upset anyone. I sincerely hope I don’t get the message board boot for saying so, but I’m tired of biting my tongue and I’m terribly embarrassed. I’m embarrassed by how spoiled, entitled, selfish, and childish a large number of people in this fan club seem to have become.
I fully understand how frustrated people are with the recent pre-sales (especially the Europeans) and I agree that many, if not all of the complaints are 100% justified. There’s really no disputing that things definitely need to be fixed.
But…to have Kelly Curtis take time out of his busy schedule to try and PERSONALLY ADDRESS questions and concerns of 10C members and then proceed to watch many of those members, (not all, but enough) flood the thread with mostly selfish, childish, and wise ass questions and remarks instead of legitimate concerns is completely and totally embarrassing.
“were you aware at Alpine that a secondary company was selling killer VIP tickets 10 Club was unaware about, and then shut down their operation and all who might buy from them----including me.”? …
”Please address why it took more than 24 hours for 10C to issue any sort of statement regarding the ticketing issue. This is a huge point.”?...
“Is the money we give the band annually in dire economic times taken seriously at all? We're not all rock stars....”?
Are you f**king kidding me? It’s a wonder Mr. Curtis didn’t just walk away because bullshit like that doesn’t even deserve a response.
Just trying to read the responses from Kelly was nearly impossible and maybe if he was shown more respect instead of arrogance, he may have addressed a few more concerns.
Instead we got the same mundane pictures of Nickelback and Creed posted in the middle of a thread like that joke would somehow be funnier the 250th time it has been used this week? People were trying to get answers to legitimate questions…save that stuff for another thread.
Some of you sit on here and repeatedly complain about the presales, then you complain about what cities the band is playing, then you complain about not getting tickets, then when you get tickets you complain about the seats. You complain about the shirts, the limited edition items (as if you don’t understand the term “LIMITED EDITION”), your membership numbers, the costs…it never stops and some of you are never, ever happy regardless of what the band or the 10C does. I can’t figure out for the life of me why some of you are even here!
I’ve met some really wonderful people through this club and I have had some amazing experiences courtesy of the hard working (albeit imperfect) staff of the 10C. I sincerely hope that that never changes. But to see people acting like the immature Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber fans who litter facebook pages with death threats any time they are upset, only 3 months after all of the good will and positivity of PJ20 is truly disheartening.
Again, I apologize to the 10C staff if any of this violates message board etiquette, but based on what I’ve read this weak, I don’t see how it could. I’m sorry if this is considered “adding to the negativity”, but some of you really need to grow up, be more respectful, and stop acting like spoiled little children…you know who you are, but I doubt you’re grown up enough to admit it.

I think every one in the 10 club office stood up and gave you a standing ovation.:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

Embarrassment - not a promising subject considering how bad posts have turned this week

BUT! This was the first thread I really enjoyed reading in the last 5 days. Thank you for that! It sums up pretty effectively how I feel about the whole mass reaction

FINALLY! A post worthy of praise. I agree. There is way too much entitlement floating around here.

    Great post Heisenberg!

Kelly tried his best. I can't believe all the hate & anger in that thread. I didn't bother to post in that thread because I didn't buy any European Tickets. Nobody ever reads thread titles anymore. The thread was dedicated to ...

EUROPEAN TICKET PRE-SALE FORUM DIALOGUE WITH PJ MANAGER KELLY CURTIS

Why were members asking questions about non European Ticket Pre-Sale? Let those fan's who tried for Euro tickets ask Kelly their questions. If you have something not related to the topic email 10club. Give them a call. Start your own thread. Why all the hate, especially during the holiday's.

Yeah - like there have never been any other issues with this fanclub. Just because they tried to communicate and address these issues once does not make all of the other issues go away. Dont think kissing the fanclubs ass will reap any rewards. You guys are almost sillier than the haters.

Thankfully I was sleeping and only read the brilliant Redux post, but agree generally with what the OP is saying as it applies to a lot of the forum and not just the Q&A thread...however, it's also true that there have been some embarrassing things posted from both 'sides' of opinion. it's not even entertaining anymore, just depressing...

I have wanted to post something like the OP ever since the Q&A. It was a totaly embarassment.

The bickering towards the end was just awful.

Thank you for posting this, you have my full support.

Agreed, why for once people couldn't just leave the thread alone if they didn't have anything constructive to say I don't know. I wonder what the band think of us, I feel embarrassed by some of the actions of people on this board.
    My PJ shows:
    London 28/10/96, Las Vegas 11/7/98, London 29/5/00, Nurnburg 11/6/00, Prague 14/6/00, Salzburg 18/6/00, Verona 20/6/00, Milan 22/6/00, Zurich 23/6/00, New York 8-9/7/03, Boston 11/7/03, Reading Festival 27/8/06, Shepards Bush 11/8/09, Berlin 15/8/09, Manchester 17/8/09, London 18/8/09, Dublin 22/6/10, Belfast 23/6/10, London (HRC) 25/6/10, Alpine Valley (PJ20) 3-4/9/11, Manchester 20-21/6/12, Leeds 8/7/14, Milton Keynes 11/7/14 To be continued....
  • Yep, asking the band and their manager pertinent and difficult questions is abominable. You all are right. No one should ever question anything this band/club/management does. Even if tens of thousands of people pay 50 bucks a year to keep the club going.

It wasn't your questions it was your (and others) continual bickering that took over the Q&A and made it almost impossible to decifer what was going on. Why couldnt you have done that somewhere else instead of highjacking the thread with insane BS about whether you were being negative or not!? It was a Q&A with Kelly Curtis not the f#*#ing Spiritual Chaos and friends show!

    1. Ok, Sorry if you feel that way. But if tou read the thread I was "attacked" and merely repsonded to that. There was plenty of questions throughout the first couple of pages that did not get answers. the attack and my response came late-late in that thread. Had KC not left at that point even?
    2. Did I not ask questions? Before someone "attacked" me?
    3. I could without problem decifer alot of great questions even though people, these "the f#*#ing Spiritual Chaos and friends show!" - also discussed other things.
    4. I think, what was worse than this bickering, was all the questions people re-posted or wanted clarified because vague answers were given. So, this "bickering" "took over" a Q&A with someone who didn't seem all that interested in stratightforward communication to begin with. Or am i wrong?
    5. But hey, they may or may not play the south...

It was neither the time nor the place, you could have just said "you know what, this is not for now, lets have this conversation on another thread".

Well said. As if one spending money on a fan club, albums, tickets, merch, etc. should entitle one to dictate how a band conducts their business or, for that matter, which songs they want to play at their concerts.

Eddie commented on night two of PJ20 at Alpine Valley about the band having a feeling of rebirth, like a new beginning. Then, he played a song that he just wrote a few hours before.

"So glad we made it/'til when it all got good."

whaooo :o:o the OP is totally on point, the discussion should of just been about EUROPE tickets and some of you did highjack the thread with bullshit ??? ....
jesus greets me looks just like me ....
  • Well, well put. I don't post that often (but read a lot of the posts). But when things like ticket sales don't go as planned, there is a huge outpouring of negativity and hostility. I am grateful to be a part of 10C and have the opportunity to get tickets to shows in advance. (PJ20 was just fantastic!!!!!) Sending the positive vibe out to all of you during this holiday season.

  • I didn't read any of Kelly's original thread... and I don't plan on revisiting it. I read and (admittedly) harshly critiqued the summary of what he had to say.

The fact that so many people have become sheep to this band is what enables them to continue to use this flawed business model. You all claim how much the band does for you, and how much they care about you - which I find amazing, considering all of the problems in the last year have to do with the band NOT understanding their fan base. Underproducing the PJ20 Blu Ray, the PJ20 Backpack, the PJ20 vinyl, using ticketing systems that aren't capable of handling a band of their popularity... but yeah, you guys are right, they're so in tune with you, and you should continue to blindly thank them for everything they do for you.

You talk about the negativity, but the sheep are what makes it so negative. No matter how well thought out a negative post is, it never leads to rational discourse on this board... it is instead attacked by a pack of woo boys that are incapable of doing anything but praising Pearl Jam, and then the "negative' poster goes on the defensive, and things just get out of control, as it spirals into defensive anger and hateful comments. If we could just find a middle ground where we could openly talk about both the POSITIVES and the NEGATIVES of Pearl Jam as a business organization in 2011, we might actually have an interesting message board. Instead, we have groups of people living only on each extreme, and bashing the people on the other side. Sweet!

    Enough said right there.

Nowhere did I say that I had a problem with people questiong or criticizing the band or the 10C's handling of recent sales. What I have a problem with is the immature and self-involved way that many of you go about doing it. People ranted and raved on here for 2 days about how "people need to be held accountable", "heads need to roll", we need answers!" then when you get what you want and someone actually tries to address some concerns YOU said you wanted addressed, people end up making a mockery of it by flooding the thread with self-involved, egotistical, and and smart ass remarks and comments. Then those same people strut around like peacocks talking about how high and mighty they are like they actually accomplished something.

You guys have as much right to be here is anyone and I personally don't really care what your opinion about the band, the club, or anything else is. My question is though...if you honestly hate the club, if you think the band are greedy and disinterested, then why are you here? Why do you keep paying the fees and going through this if it makes you so miserable? Actually...ya know what, strike that...I'm not interested enough to hear your reasons.
  • I find it so odd that anyone who disagrees with PJ and the management are called haters, and the ones who agree with them are called sheep.

I agree with this 100 percent!! This has long been what frustrates me about other fans on the board. When someone brings up a valid concern or criticisism in a thoughtful and respectful manner, they get slammed by others..told to shut up..told to just quit etc....Just look at the Blu Ray thread...people go into the petition just to slam those who want more blu rays produced..what is the reason for this??

When people are rude about their complaints, then fine I understand..but many people are just voicing their opinions and don't deserve to be attacked for it..from either side!
