  • enjoyed Hamilton 2011 a lot, although i have to say that Ed couldn't quite keep up vocally during Brain of J. just listened to the 2003 Sendai version of that song and wonder if Ed's voice actually is suffering a bit nowadays. ..

I thought his voice sounded strained during the Argentina broadcast, and does at certain points in the Canada recordings. Overall though with the Canada boots I think he still sounds really good. He certainly seems to push himself a lot with the choice of songs sometimes, and he's not so young as he used to be..... hopefully he'll find the balance between protecting his voice and the need to belt out the big numbers in the future.....

Did you check out the Calgary show? How do you find that one? I do not have it yet, but going through the set list it speaks to me. ..

I tried to listen to Hamilton at work today but kept getting interrupted so didn't get a good listen. I have to admit Ed didn't seem on top form but still great all the same. Ed gets away with it when he's a little rusty because he has such a good voice anyway where some good singers just don't. Chris Cornell springs to mind. Ed sounded slightly off on the Argentina broadcast for Release but I didn't hear past Go so don't know how he shaped up for the rest of the set? He is still joint top dog with Mark Lanegan for me.
