Been listening to the Katowice shows from 2000. Struggled with them though especially night one, just seems like there is no energy from either the band or crowd.
These shows are pretty revered but I can definately relate to this. On night 1 there is a lack of any of magic that is on much of the other shows from this leg although it's still pretty good. I think the crowd aren't very respectful of each other and it seems to make Ed sound pretty tense. Night 2 is much better and because of the odd circumstances it feels like a nice intimate get together. I still wouldn't rate it as high as some people do but it's still fun to listen to. I love the four slow songs to begin the show.
Definitely agree with you. Opening with Release, Of The Girl, Sleight Of Hand and Thin Air is a pretty magic moment and they should do that more often!!! But that aside I'm not sure why the shows are so highly rated. Probably my least favourite of the 43 2000 boots I own!

I'm onto West Palm Beach 1 today, after that I've got Memphis, Saratoga and Washington too listen to. And then I'm gonna have to get back to completing the 2000 collection!!!

Landgraaf is the Pinkpop show. I'm quite fond of it as they didn't make it a very typical festival setlist and there were some great versions of the Binaural songs played. Saratoga is an awesome show and I'm sure you'll love it. Which boots do you need yet? I'll be meeting up with Alastair and yourself in Manchester by the way, I got a PM from him his this week asking what I was doing. There'll be a big Scottish contingent making a nuisance of ourselves....

Although I love NAIS, I am not sure it works for me as a show opener. I always considered this song to be sort of intimate, setting a very specific, rather "dark" mood, which demands a certain mindset. That is why I am having a bit of trouble listening to this song as an opener. I think I prefer it later on in the set, played on rare occasions, when it falls into place with the rest of the set and general "feel" of the evening. In this regard, I definitely enjoyed the 2003 Fargo version recently.
I do not dig the second and third song of the Cardiff show, being Breakerfall and Gods' Dice. These songs just don't do anything for me. Never have, and probably never will.
Other than that, the rest of the set list offers a great selection of songs and the renditions of these are overall very solid. The mood is relaxed and easy, which provides for great listening

Its Landgraaf or Nurnberg I wasn't keen on. Looking at the Pinkpop set, that looks like a set I'd be very happy with! So it must be the Nurnberg boot! I will have to listen to them both again.
The Euro boots I need are Prague, Salzburg, Ljubljana and Zurich. I'm gonna put a thread on Lost Dogs in a few weeks to see if anyone has them or any of the US ones I need too!
