I knew Dale wouldn't pull the trigger. Kind of wish he had, Shane is really getting on my nerves. Although I do think he was right about needing to deal with the walkers in the barn.
Kind of sinister what he said to Lori as he was walking away after insisting that the baby was his...
(Today I watched "Shaun of the Dead" and honest to God, I can't believe how much zombie precedent there is out there. Damn, that was funny. I did think about Herschel's barn, though, when Shaun went out to the shed to play the video game with Zombie Ed.)15 years of sharks 06/30/08 (MA), 05/17/10 (Boston), 09/03/11 (Alpine Valley), 09/04/11 (Alpine Valley), 09/30/12 (Missoula), 07/19/13 (Wrigley), 10/15/13 (Worcester), 10/16/13 (Worcester), 10/25/13 (Hartford), 12/4/13 (Vancouver), 12/6/13 (Seattle), 6/26/14 (Berlin), 6/28/14 (Stockholm), 10/16/14 (Detroit)0 -
Great episode. I really thought things were going to turn out worse than that. I thought Shane was going to lead an uprising and try to kill Herschel's people so they could have the farm.
As for whether Herschel knew it was Sophia, he may have suspected, but he couldn't have known. Little kids (to the best of my knowledge) don't carry ID. And they didn't show him a picture or anything. He knew they were looking for a little girl, and that he had a little girl zombie, that's about it."See a broad to get dat booty yak 'em, leg 'er down, a smack 'em yak 'em!"0 -
I don't think Herschel would have told them it was Sophia even if he made the connection, because he wasn't ever going to tell them about the walkers in the barn.
I did feel bad for Herschel when he dropped to the knees as they were picking off the barn walkers.
And on a lighter note, how about Maggie with the egg in Glen's hat? I would SO love to do that to someone...15 years of sharks 06/30/08 (MA), 05/17/10 (Boston), 09/03/11 (Alpine Valley), 09/04/11 (Alpine Valley), 09/30/12 (Missoula), 07/19/13 (Wrigley), 10/15/13 (Worcester), 10/16/13 (Worcester), 10/25/13 (Hartford), 12/4/13 (Vancouver), 12/6/13 (Seattle), 6/26/14 (Berlin), 6/28/14 (Stockholm), 10/16/14 (Detroit)0 -

Yeah, but he didn't even say anything after everybody knew. Maybe the whole thing with taking Rick out to get the walkers and going back to the barn was going to be his way breaking it to Rick, as well as teaching him a lesson in how he felt they should be treated. Hoping that once Rick saw Sophia he might come to his side. But then everything went to shit thanks to Shane and then Rick put down Sophia like a rabid dog."See a broad to get dat booty yak 'em, leg 'er down, a smack 'em yak 'em!"0 -

Rick shot Sophia because he thought it was his responsibility/duty to do so, seeing as he thought it was his fault that he left her alone in the creek when he lured away the walkers away from her.Ottawa 2011

A lot of people weren't all that surprised about Sophia. I saw this on the internet the other day, and it's from a week ago...
The thought had entered my mind, but I really didn't think it was going to happen. They were finding clues that she was alive, and on "Talking Dead" they said that they filmed a teaser of Otis being the one who snared Sophia and then put her in the barn. That would mean she would basically would need to have turned by the second day, since it was on the second day when Otis shot Carl and he was tied up with helping on that situation and getting eaten after that."See a broad to get dat booty yak 'em, leg 'er down, a smack 'em yak 'em!"0 -

as soon as we heard one more about to come out of the barn, I turned to my wife and said "it's the little girl I bet". But I didn't predict that Rick would be the one to shoot her.

fucking great episode.
Shane is painted as the bad guy, but he is making the right choices for survival. I see either him being in charge from here on out or Rick totally reconsidering his stance.
I really don't see the group listening to Rick anymore.
So that was it for a while? When is the next episode??Post edited by LikeAnOcean on0 -
According to the writer/executive producer, Herschel didn't know Sophia was in the barn. I missed it when he said it the first time on Talking Dead, but caught it on the rerun. He says that Otis used to corral the zombies alone, as he did with Sophia, and Otis was killed before they made any mention of the fact they were looking for a little girl. Hershel didn't really know who all was in the barn."See a broad to get dat booty yak 'em, leg 'er down, a smack 'em yak 'em!"0

I see it going the other way. And they kind of alluded to that on Talking Dead also. Rick was the only one who actually stepped up and did the hardest thing, that none of the others would or could. After all his chest beating and yelling about doing what had to be done, Shane couldn't actually do what had to be done, Rick could. And I think Sophia showing up like that kind of brought everybody down off the mob mentality Shane whipped them up into when they thought they were going to kill a bunch of strangers, and one turned out to be a member of THEIR group.
That's supposedly a character defining moment for Rick, and solidifies him as a leader, and Shane whipping them up into a mob to go on a massacre backfired on him when Sophia showed up.Gob wrote:So that was it for a while? When is the next episode??

Gob wrote:You make a good point.. Or Shane would have eventually done it, but he wanted Rick to prove to him and the group he had it in him.
Could be, but I don't really Shane doing something like that, or at least in the way I see him. He's trying to be the Alpha Male, and I don't think he's really wanting Rick to step up and be a leader, or testing Rick. I think if he had it in him to do it, he would have. I think Shane may have been affected just as much as everybody else (he might be nutty but he's not a monster, at least I don't think) by seeing Sophia. Who knows, we'll have to see what happens in February I guess."See a broad to get dat booty yak 'em, leg 'er down, a smack 'em yak 'em!"0 -

Yeah, I don't think he's totally bad, but he has gone beyond just making tough decisions. I think proof he isn't all bad is evidenced by the fact he didn't kill Dale in the woods. I really thought that would be the final straw in their little feud.
As for what happens to Shane in the future, I only know what goes on in the comics. I haven't read them, but in reading message boards and stuff for the show I've found out some things, one of which is Shane's future, which I won't post on here. What happens in the comics doesn't necessarily happen on the show, but it's loosely following the same thing, and I wouldn't want to post a MAJOR spoiler here. And it is major."See a broad to get dat booty yak 'em, leg 'er down, a smack 'em yak 'em!"0 -

I fell asleep during the Talking Dead...I think I had dreams about "Daryl" :?
I loved when they were talking about looking for extras to play the zombies and they said they want to have little cards that say " You would make a great zombie"Show #13 was a lucky one for me....0
