Hey, what's the deal with feeding the zombies the chickens?!?

For me that was so disturbing, when farm woman broke the chicken's legs and then threw them all into the barn for the zombies to eat. (Funny, I never mind the human-on-human violence, but the second an animal is involved, I'm upset.)

So as I was driving to work this morning, preparing for this huge presentation at 9 a.m., all I could think about was "Zombies need to eat?!?"

If zombies need to eat... how are they all surviving in Atlanta and elsewhere? There can't be enough survivors left to keep them all fed.

It's not like they can microwave up a burrito, due to the lack of power and ability to correctly program microwave oven controls.

If they don't need to eat, why was she throwing those poor chickens at them?

I'm not sure if they need to eat as much as Herschel and his people think they need to eat. They don't think these are re-animated dead people, they think they are people with an illness. Another part of it may be compassion, since they know at least some of these "people" in the barn, one being Herschel's wife and another his step-son. They may know that they don't necessarily need to eat, but know they are hungry so feed them. Those are my thoughts anyway.

what was with the group target practice?

seemed like a huge waste of ammo during a zombie apocalypse.

Thanks SF _ I had a bit of an "ah HA!" moment in the barn when Herschel explained that to Dale. All of a sudden I saw it from his perspective. He really does believe there will be a cure (as evidenced by his previous conversation with Rick on the porch a few episodes back).

And when Maggie flared at Glen for calling them walkers.

    "What do you call them?"

    "Mom!"

With the whole pregnancy and morning after pill twist, I thought, "Aww, crap, theyr'e gonna go down a perilous path here."

And seriously, is anybody scarier than Shane right now?!? Holy crap! When he was bobbing in front of Dale, just staring at him with those burning eyes.

    Yikes indeed.

The walking dead is one of the worst zombie stories ever told. I would un recommend it when it was a lame graphic novel (can't read a graphic novel w/o color it's silly) (if you want to make it blk and wht at least leave the blood red?) . I told people they are wasting their money. The t.v. show is so silly it's just like the other show "Lost" but instead of others they are undead others. I have this Hatian Voodoo Zombie raising ritual recorded on cd. Maybe I should give it a play in the cd player maybe I will get my own Zombie?

Most graphic novels are colourless. Have you never read a manga before?

ya, that was another weak episode.
I understand they want to do some character and plot building....but a zombie show with zero suspense is just another fucking primetime soap. I agree with those who have said this entire season has been disappointing to date. Get off the farm!

I'd still like to see more flashbacks, a little glimpse of when and how it started.

I suspect that would be full of terrifying potential.

The chaos and confusion when it all begins are always the best scenes in any zombie movie....could def use more flashbacks to that!

  • So I'd like to start watching Season 1, but i have a real issue with watching movies before reading the books. So i want to read the comics before watching the show. I know their have been 7 books collecting the Walking Dead stories so far, is Season 1 based on a specific book or issue? I remain firm on my wanting to read the parts of the show covered in the comics, which do i need to read before watching season 1, and season 2?

I'm not really sure this is the same as reading a book before seeing the movie. From what I've read and heard the show is pretty loosely based on the comics. There are characters in the show that weren't in the comics, characters that are in both have had their stories changed, events changed, etc. People who have read all the comics don't even know what's going to happen on the show. I haven't read any of the comics, so I don't know where to tell you to start, except at the beginning I guess. Season 1 ends with the group leaving the CDC, which I'm not even sure is covered in the comics. The first half of Season 2 takes place at Herschel's farm (which is in the comics), so when you get that far you'll be getting into season 2.

Love the way they did it, the guttural zombie sounds, then panning up from her feet. My mouth dropped open and I sat up straight on the couch.

    Holy crap!
