Pearl Jam sneakers? I saw some Kurt Cobain converse a little while back..... SO SAD! Grunge is turning into classic rock and hair metal. Can't wait until Snooki is wearing a Pearl Jam mini skirt

We are becoming merch whores. The posters are awesome and the T-shirts are pretty cool, but a backpack.....Really? Why do people feel they need all of this shit? I agree with Passim, it will be funny to see Pearl Jam Condoms when they come out.

Personally, I like the way they did the posters in '08. You bought a wristband, saw the show and picked up your poster on the way out. Sure, in the end you had to stand in two lines, but that's the price of not having to worry about the poster the whole show, and it was a good way to control how many posters somebody could buy.

If people didn't buy stuff at inflated prices, there'd be no secondary market. No one is forcing you to part with your hard earned cash for any of this. I've see these posts on every freaking board I go to - classic audio equipment, Hot Wheels, Transformers, etc. Same shiz, different board.

The posters should be limited to 2 per person. Any more than that, and they KNOW they are flipping them. Some guy bought 100 posters at PJ20. wtf is someone doing with 100 posters if not flipping them?
Say that again? A guy bought 100 posters @ Alpine Valley?
Yep. One of the Alpine employees was helping look through lost and found and he was telling me about it. It was crazy.

Did he buy all 100 prints at one merchandise table / one transaction or take turns every few hours coming back & forth to the tables? Cause damn!!! How is that possible for one man to do that?
i don't have a problem with people flipping items. they aren't forcing anyone to purchase them so where's the harm? the buyer knows he/she is overpaying and it's their choice.
i don't have a problem with people flipping items. they aren't forcing anyone to purchase them so where's the harm?
The harm is buying in mass and cheating all the people who are buying the way the market is ethically set-up out of a poster.
Laws are out there to deal with black and white issues. Ethics are out there to deal with gray areas in life and we as adults are suppose to be able to self-regulate ourselves. Most have an understanding of how to treat others with this innate social responsibility....a few don't; another douche is born.
There's not much you can do other than understand that they have some sad mental/social/emotional issues that go way beyond something as trifling as poster flipping. Let them be the one's who have to deal with those issues..don't make it your problem.
.....I called out this asshole jodeci78 on expressobeans and ebay for selling 9 emeks. here's his response:
Sawyer wrote:Oh..I've figured it out. People like you join the tenclub to sell a backpack for $500 or go to the merch booths outside the venue and load up on posters to flip......you're sleazy bro. And judging by your ebay photos you have quite the husband and wife business going.....unless you wear nail polish....hope those go better there than here.
What I'm doing isn't sleazy, its the RIGHT thing to do. I'm providing an opportunity to someone who wasn't at the show to obtain something special that they otherwise won't have an opportunity to obtain. This opportunity comes at a price. If you want to wait until Pearl Jam sells it on their own website, its your choice to do so.
Sleazy having a merch booth outside so you can squeeze every last dollar from every city.
Sleazy is going city to city, tweaking a popular sports team logo to make money off them.
Sleazy is charging $35 for a t-shirt that costs $5.
Sleazy is selling a stupid backpack with a $3 patch sewn on.
Sleazy is selling a poster for $30 that costs $3 to make.
Sleazy is selling a $5 poster tube to protect a $30 poster.
Sleazy is an $7 beer.
Were you at the show?
Did you not call any of your friends at the show?
DId I personally cheat you out of a poster?
If you're a part of the Pearl Jam community, and spreading around this 'good karma' then why didn't one of the 15,000 people at the show not 'hook you up' with a poster?
Explain to me why I should sell you a poster at a price thats fair to you.
The poster sales are going pretty good. in 24 hours, I've sold 2 posters here, and 2 on ebay. At the price I'm selling them, I've already re-couped my costs, and made a small profit. Now knowing how hard these posters will be to obtain, I might even increase the price to about $225 plus shipping.
As for my ebay, you should come visit back in a couple weeks. I'll be adding new items, including some autographs of U2, Madonna, and maybe some of my Neil Young autographs. But if the Ron English poster is a knockout, check back soon, i'll have those posters in even greater quantities. Thank Pearl Jam for allowing me to buy merch in the afternoon. It saves me a lot of time.
Cheers!
I honestly had no idea what the ten club was... but i'm joining now, just so i can buy tickets & other merch for re-sale. Yes I'm doing this out of spite.

Really dude. This is no different than you buying a poster with the DIRECT intent on trading it. You bought a poster at PJ20 and came on here the next day trying to trade it. You may not have been flipping for money, but it was still flipping. You also tried to trade a 7 inch from record store day for tickets to an Ed show. Either way, you bought two of something and a fan at the show are the store missed out on one. True story my friend.
It's the 10 Clubs fault that items are getting flipped from shows not this guys fault. If they limited the posters to 1 per person we wouldn't have any issues. If the continue to let one person buy 50 to 100 posters this will continue.

Yup.
It's almost like they are making profits off of it. They know its an issue and refuse to have a poster pre-order for people who purchased tickets for that show.
I want to be more upset about this than I am. I hate these guys, I really do, but as long as 10C pumps out limited edition merchandise they will continue to thrive. The best advice is what has been stated above -- DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.
Also, the merchandise booths outside of the venue makes it so much easier for all of us to stash our goods and relax during the shows. I don't want to them go away because they are being exploited in this way.
Agree 100%. While it sucks that these guys buy shit just to flip it online for 5x what the item is worth or originally sold for, isn't at least half the problem that we as fans just can't live without this stuff? At PJ20, I stood in line for a poster on day 1 for nearly 2.5 hours. I chose NOT to do that on day 2 and didn't get a poster. I still have a choice though: I can choose to pay a ridiculous amount for the poster, or I can just do without it. Its really not that big of a deal.
I just reminds me of the addict being pissed off that his dealer charges him so much. None of us need this stuff in the first place, yet we continue to buy it and pay ridiculous prices or wait in line in the rain while intoxicated 2.5 hours for a damn poster. Why are we surprised that there are entrepreneurial individuals who see a way to capitalize off our sick poster/vinyl/t-shirt/bootleg/backpack addictions?
I think it sucks to have to pay so much for a poster or vinyl, but the reality is, the problem starts with us.

I thought the same thing. Let's not forget Sawyer trying to trade several Target backspacer shirts for city-specific sports shirts. I believe his argument was that he was simply following supply-demand and market values and blah blah blah. Sorry Freckles.
