cosart and singleton?
will wade take this year's ja happ, vance worley, plus a top prospect?
brown and worley would be a good place to start. not sure if that's enough.
cosart and singleton are two of the top 50 prospects in baseball. I think that's too much.
who knows though? should be an interesting 2 weeks
I would do Brown and a prospect not named cosart or singleton (I don't know much about them), if I were Houston. They aren't winning with Pence so you might as well get at least a player who was the number 1 prospect in the game. If he comes down to earth next year, who knows what you can get for him, certainly not someone with Browns potential.0 -

ya think? I think he would decline arb. He could get multiple years and a bigger deal than what he'd land in arbitration. some dumb team would overpay him in a 3-4 year deal and he'd end up getting hurt again.
just look at the OF trade market. AIDS everywhere
Dude, he would make $18+ million next year if he went to arbitration. I think he would take that. He may be able to get more years and money guaranteed, but not nearly that AAV. If he plays well, after $18 next year he can take a one or two year deal and make more than he would with whatever 3 year deal he would be offered this year.
gotta disagree on this one. I think he would get 3 years, 30-35 mill on the open market just based on his FA competition alone....probably even more than that
I hear you but after making $18 plus next year all he would need is a 2 year/$12 mil or so deal to match that. If he can stay healthy he should be able to do that easily, especially as a DH.
Edit: And if a team offers him arb, it's a risk. If he takes it your stuck with a $18 million contract for a player that isn't worth $11Post edited by Cliffy6745 on0 -
will be interesting to see if the phils trade singleton since he's blocked by the $125 million man. we know that contract isn't going anywhere any time soon0

Well yeah, if I were the Astros I would definitely do it. If I were the Phillies, there's no way in hell I'd do it.Spectrum 10/27/09; New Orleans JazzFest 5/1/10; Made in America 9/2/12; Phila, PA 10/21/13; Phila, PA 10/22/13; Baltimore Arena 10/27/13; Phila, PA 4/28/16; Phila, PA 4/29/16; Fenway Park 8/7/16; Fenway Park 9/2/18; Asbury Park 9/18/21; Camden 9/14/22; Las Vegas 5/16/24; Las Vegas 5/18/24; Phila, PA 9/7/24; Phila, PA 9/9/24; Baltimore Arena 9/12/24; Pittsburgh 5/16/25; Pittsburgh 5/18/25

yeah, good point. this one will be interesting for sure. $18+ in arbitration is crazy. now I hope the yanks trade for him0 -

haha, Yanks aren't interested as of today. That wouldn't make much sense, given their needs. I don't think they would be dumb enough to do that. I would rather bring up Montero.0 -
I love this shit fellas. The business side of baseball is the best. Kind of like trading baseball cards back in the day, just with a whole lot more on the line.0

I kind of think they gave up on that and moved him back to 1B.Spectrum 10/27/09; New Orleans JazzFest 5/1/10; Made in America 9/2/12; Phila, PA 10/21/13; Phila, PA 10/22/13; Baltimore Arena 10/27/13; Phila, PA 4/28/16; Phila, PA 4/29/16; Fenway Park 8/7/16; Fenway Park 9/2/18; Asbury Park 9/18/21; Camden 9/14/22; Las Vegas 5/16/24; Las Vegas 5/18/24; Phila, PA 9/7/24; Phila, PA 9/9/24; Baltimore Arena 9/12/24; Pittsburgh 5/16/25; Pittsburgh 5/18/25

Love my job, but if I could pick one job it would be a baseball GM0 -

correct. from what I read they moved him back after the minor league all star break. his numbers were down a bit in the first half. since moving him back to first he is crushing the ball again...and he's still young for his level (19 at high A)0 -

For sure, it would be awesome. I feel like what they do is just as much of a game as what goes on on the field.0 -
I will say, I think it will be really interesting to see what Amaro does moving forward to keep his team competitive. He has obviously done a great job at putting a good team together, but he has his work cut out for him keeping the team comeptitive and around $175 million in payroll. For your sake, hopefully he has learned from his contract mistakes, those kind of thing will hurt them a lot more in the next couple years. It probably the most interesting team out there in terms of keeping the team good with the obligations and what they need.
Edit: And by competitive I mean in the top 5 teams in baseball.0 -

yeah man. he has made some great trades to fill holes, but this will be his toughest offseason yet. lot of difficult decisions to be made (rollins, madson, hamels, LF, oswalt)0 -

The trades have been great, the contracts not so much. Much tougher decisions coming up. Oswalt has to have his option declined, no way they can pay him that after his injuries this year. Rollins and Hamels will be interesting. I could see Rollins thinking he is worth more than he is, he has never had a big payday. They have to get Hamels done somehow.
And speaking of Ed Wade, I don't know why this came back to me just now, but I read a couple weeks back the Freidman from the Rays will be getting paid shit load next season to be Houstons GM and that it is his dream job, being from Houston. Best news ever for the AL East.0 -
George: I like sports. I could do something in sports.
Jerry: Uh-huh. Uh-huh. In what capacity?
George: You know, like the general manager of a baseball team or something.
Jerry: Yeah. Well, that - that could be tough to get.
George: Well, it doesn't even have to be the general manager. Maybe I could be like, an announcer. Like a colour man. You know how I always make those interesting comments during the game.
Jerry: Yeah. Yeah. You make good comments.
George: What about that?
Jerry: Well, they tend to give those jobs to ex-ballplayers and people that are, you know, in broadcasting.
George: Well, that's really not fair.
Jerry: I know. Well, okay. Okay. What else do you like?
George: Movies. I like to watch movies.
Jerry: Yeah. Yeah.
George: Do they pay people to watch movies?
Jerry: Projectionists.
George: That's true.
Jerry: But you gotta know how to work the projector.
George: Right.
Jerry: And it's probably a union thing.
George: (scoffs) Those unions. (sighs) Okay. Sports, movies what about a talk show host?
Jerry: Talk show host. That's good.
George: I think I'd be good at that. I talk to people all the time. Someone even told me once they thought I'd be a good talk show host.
Jerry: Really?
George: Yeah. A couple of people. I don't get that, though. Where do you start?
Jerry: Well, that's where it gets tricky.
George: You can't just walk into a building and say "I wanna be a talk show host".
Jerry: I wouldn't think so.
George: It's all politics.
Jerry: All right, okay. Sports, movies, talk show host. What else?
George: This could have been a huge mistake.
Jerry: Well, it doesn't sound like you completely thought this through.www.myspace.com0 -
