    Some would say an intellectual uses intelligence and critical analysis in their daily life. So, they may not be far apart.

    I would bet that the average intelligence in here (and yes, I'm in here so I'm picking on me too), regardless of gauge, is below the level of the average of the U.S.Congress. That's all I'm saying.

    Could be, inlet13. Or maybe they're just more cocky and act like they know what they're doing. And then there are some people in congress-- and I won't mention names here because I don't want virtual darts thrown at me-- who are just plain fucking stupid.

    You should be scared, too. This is a woman who claims that "god" told her to become a lawyer for the IRS and send threatening letters to people, sue them for back taxes and take their houses. Yeah. All the harping about "she was a tax lawyer" that the teabaggers do and most of them think she defended people. No... she went after people for not paying their taxes fast enough. Because "god" told her to.

    Third: For being so dumb, I would guarantee she's more intelligent then everyone who has commented in this thread. She has a post-doc, a law degree and has served as a Senator.

    I come from a family of people who have more doctorates than sense. All university professors and not a clue between them. Book smart they may be but they're not very bright. Clueless and easy to fool.

    This is a person who read on some homemade blog from Mumbai that the president was taking the entire Navy's "war ships" and spending 2 billion dollars on his trip to India... not even remotely true. But she reported it as fact. That's just being gullible and clueless. Anyone with a brain cell could have spotted that as a silly made-up story.

    She also recently claimed that the president had given ONE off-shore oil-drilling permit. The actual number was 207. She was only off by 206. But when presented with this, she sputtered, said "the fact remains that he hasn't give out the permits (conservatives love to repeat their lies over and over again) and then started reciting something about the unemployment rate.

    This is a person who's called for paranoid McCarthyist witch hunts, someone who thinks we should teach "Intelligent design" as "science" and someone who not only believes in but promotes a "gay cure."

    This is someone who's made hundreds of thousands of dollars by funneling subsidies to her own family business.

    You really think someone like that is a good leader?
    Finally: This is what I was waiting for. The press will try to do what they did with Sarah Palin,

    you mean... "report the things she says verbatim as facts?"

    Yeah. Good. hope they keep doing that.

    So what? George W. Bush graduated from Yale University in 1968 and Harvard Business School in 1975. Does that make him an intellectual? No, it doesn't. He was a buffoon.

    Her latest mouth-fart was saying that she chose Waterloo, Iowa to announce yet again that she's running for president is that she wants to be like John Wayne, a vaguely fey actor who made his living pretending to be a cowboy. He wasn't a REAL cowboy, he just played one in movies. Truth be known he was just a fake, not a real "tough-guy" in real life.

    And the worst thing was that John Wayne wasn't from Waterloo, it was serial-killer John Wayne Gacy.

    Which means she just looked that up on Google a few minutes before so she could have something cute to say.

    Another last-minute fuck-up that we DO NOT want from a president.

    Can we please have someone who actually does their homework? Someone who isn't just a buffoon? Someone who means what they say and doesn't just say crap to incite people?

    I spoke to one Bachmann supporter who says he likes her because "she knows just how to play the lamestream media." And I'm like... isn't that a bit high school?

    Ok, there is no doubt in my mind that she is not "worthy" of the white house. But come on, that kind of a stunt is just ridiculous. I would be willing to bet that there are many high school students that would win those quizes against some of the best politicians we have. It's the same reason 5th graders can beat people...

    I've never heard our president intentionally spread completely fabricated factoids like she does. He's gotten things wrong... no denying that. But he's never been fooled by silly internet rumors. She has. Over and over.

    It's just mind-blowing how much that woman lies, makes things up, spreads things she KNOWS are false and repeats silly stories that she'd know weren't true if she'd just do some reading and not just believe every crazy thing she's told.

    She would be a HORRIBLE president. Imagine that she heard a rumor that there were nukes in Cuba... she'd just bomb them without even looking into it to see if it was true.

    I voted for the most qualified candidate- Obama. Next time, I'll vote for anyone who is honest about tackling the problems we face- climate change and peak oil to begin with... if, in fact, there is anyone brave enough to do so. Would that be Bachmann? (Insert obvious answer).
