I always loved the Michael Anthony Jack Daniels bass myself...

Of course "Intruder" would top the list which tells the real story of who the best singer is, its Frankenstrat.

    Who? :?

Gotta go with DLR, although I do enjoy the Van Hagar. Jump was the first video I can remember watching on MTV. It's not my favorite VH song now, but as a 7 or 8 year old kid I thought it was the greatest thing ever. And from that point on, I was forever corrupted.

How is this up for question the answer is DAVID LEE ROTH aka Diamond Dave. Hagar is just lame.

For the record, the score on this thread so far is Dave 18 and Sammy 8.

DAVE LEE ROTH - all the way!! The songs rocked harder, and he was the ultimate front man at the time. Dave sang songs about sex! When Sammy joined, all these love songs started to appear on VH albums ***ugh***

Don't get me wrong, Van Hagar did some good stuff, but for me, its no contest.

Dave...while talented... is a goof. Sammy is the "Brian Johnson" of VH. The "grown up" versiom of Van Halen is Sammy's version. Dave is an entertainer...Sammy is a musician! End of story.

Only band I've seen more than PJ. Both version I've seen at least 3 times as well as Roth solo first time around.

I choose Roth because I like the raw less produced sound of the music.

As far as music goes, David Lee Roth. Van Halen was just better in the beginning, and the longer they kept going the more synth-driven they became, which I don't like. In my opinion (it's not all that of a reach in opinion, many think this) they were never as good as they were on the first album.

I think Dave is kind of a d-bag though, in interviews Sammy seems like a much more down to Earth, cool guy. Whether he really is or not I don't know, but he seems like a nice guy. So musically it's Dave, but if I were to choose one to hang out with it would be Sammy, plus you know he's got some tequila around at all times.

DLR by a longshot. My grandma like Hagar era VH

I think both singers suffer from chronic cases of LSD. Both are just so caught up in their image that I can't take either seriously at all. That fits with the Roth era, but Hagar has always been full of shit and tried to play it cool.

fuck both of them! its all about gary cherone baby!! VHIII is a masterpiece.

    i'm joking

i really like both era's of VH.

i grew up listening to sammy. my dad has always been a big hagar fan and it was the only vh i knew growing up.

its hard for me to say because its almost like two different bands.

i find the DLR albums are a bit more solid. besides 5150, i have a hard time listening to the sammy albums all the way through. but with the DLR albums i can put them on and don't have to skip any songs. but at the same time i like the good sammy songs more than the good DLR songs. see my problem???

i'll go with sammy because he's cooler and a better singer.

Within Van Halen, I like the DLR stuff better, however I think Sammy's a much better singer/musician, and all around a guy I'd much rather hang out with.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V
