It's changed the way I look at things too, definitely for the better. Coincidences aren't just coincidences anymore; everything that happens has a deeper meaning...

Shimmy, Celestine Prophecy talks about coincidence and universe also. You should check it out!
yes, shimmy, please read it....there is no such thing as chance or coincidence....I am SOO glad that I have found a like soul...

It does...but Jeanwah, what did you think about the Celestine Prophecy?? I would really like to know...because that book was very influential to me...and nobody else I have EVER talked to has read that book other than my mom...

Oh! I know many people who've read it years ago, but they didn't seem as taken, almost as if they didn't really connect with it. I loved it though, it was one of those books I had to read slowly so I could mull over what I'd just read to let it all sink in. (Ishmael was the same way). The Tenth Insight was contained as a separate book within my copy, but never got to reading that. Have you? And it's totally gotten me interested in Peru as a magical, albeit semi-dangerous place.

Has anyone read the Celestine Prophecy? In that book spirituality wasn't based on a God but on 9 Insights that, when learned, lead to a conciousness that propels a person above and beyond our egos. In this sense of spirituality, the belief in ourselves as almost higher beings by having that elevated consciousness and being thoroughly in touch with our surroundings and the earth... that's what I think of when it comes to the future, symbolism of 2012 and spirituality. That we're the ultimate higher power, and that we can get there if we actually try. The science combined with the belief in ourselves, but an elevated sense of self, not the ego.

no, I've never been there, but since I read this book 8 years ago, I have made that one of my lifetime quests.....I have two copies of the book...I have the 10th insight book, but I haven't read it yet....truthfully, because I read a review on the book and found out it was 'fiction'...which I was surprised about...I have read it 3 times...I have notes all in the sidelines...this is insane to me. I LOVE IT!!
And...I don't think it's a 'dangerous' place (although you have a point...he makes it out to be a crazy spot, if you're after the bourne identity)...I consider it one of those 'spiritual openings', like Sedona, AZ must be.....I have just never come across someone who has also read it....I totally love it.

Yeah, it does seem to be a mystical, spiritual place, with Machu Picchu as well. Funny, I've put visiting Peru on my bucket list after reading the book, too! Yeah, I remember reading reviews of the 10th Insight to not being half as good as CP, so that's why I didn't give it my time. That book convinced me that we're ONE, everyone and everything is truly connected.

yes, I agree...and what's so awesome about it is that it connects it in such a way that relgion is put aside...mostly. :) there is just an awesome lesson to be learned from that book...and after the climax of the original, I just didn't find the need to explore what else had to be said...I dislike fiction...and many people would classify this as 'paranormal'.

and it will be one of my quests to go to Machu Picchu.....I have a friend who has been there and she has confirmed that it is magical...and she never read that book. :D

I have copies of both the CP & the 10th. I will re-read them...it's been awhile...and I am sure it was no coincidence that it came up here...through you two. ;)

Oh, the Chopra one is the next level...how to connect and live through the soul...just incredible...every book that teaches that skill blows my mind...and I have read many books
Lots of love, light and hugs to you all!

I just posted my thoughts on universal consciousness in Pap's thread, and I feel it should be here also.

The universal consciousness is not as far off as you think. It's here. It's now. It's in you at this very second. We are all part of it right now. It is creating this very moment we are in. Awareness is required to connect into the universal consciousness. Acceptance of its potentiality is the next step to have the universal consciousness rise to meet your needs. Compassion and Love for everything keeps you from losing your connection to selfishness (ego).

Simply recognizing that there is a universal consciousness is Awareness. Good and bad are equal parts of every potential, for which we must have Acceptance to choose the potential that fits our path at the time. Compassion and Love keeps us grounded through it all.

Give it a go. It's easier than said. Really.

Ok, again...i will post my follow up comment that placed in Pap's thread here. I had no idea we would be posting on the same topic really...just from different perspectives.
    ________________________________________________________________________________
When I said it was easier than said, I did mean easier. To give Compassion and Love is easy...once you choose to do it. The choice is the hard part for most people. Why? Because it requires us to accept that there are other paths that are correct, not only our own. KWIM?

Take for example what the conversation between Pap & zarocat in Paps' thread. They were equally too concerned with thier own way being the right way, that they did not even consider that each of their individual philosophies are correct because the are right for each of them as individuals. In the end, it seems that they have used compassion to see each where each other are coming from. :D

As for not seeing that there is not a universal consciousness, please try view it through my eyes.

First, I view the universal conscious as an energy that links us all. I feel connected through my spirit to everything. I really do. The same universal energy that created me also created a new thought in another person's mind. It also created the earth and the animals. We are all created from the same energy. To invalidate someone else, to me, is to invalidate myself. It goes back to Agape (brotherly love) and reaping what you sow.

I believe that universal consciousness does NOT make things happen to us. I believe that the universal consciousness is responding to us. I know this from my own life. When I choose to be serious, that's what the universe gives back to me. When I choose to be compassionate and loving, that's what the universe gives back to me. Yes, sometimes serious things happens in my life. Those events always make me I realize there is something for me to learn about my self and where my responsibility is in that event, which in turn strengthens my own personal connection to the universe.

Am I making sense? These concepts can get lost in translation, when one is describing actions. I guess that's where it lies..."not in the talk, but in the walk".
