Hubby not keen on traveling for a festival...I'm bummed out...but seriously thinking of just going with a friend if he really won't go. Love him to bits but I've NEVER seen PJ so have to do something in 2011! What kind
of money are we usually looking at for this? Average the travel to at least 1500 miles as I am on the east coast.
Thanks for any info...gotta get there
    somehow :P

I bet you could do it for less than $1000.

Say $300 for for your tickets if it's a 3 day thing
    $400 flight
    $300 food and split lodging

I'm saving! Hubby can watch the kids :D Thanks for the help.

If Delta flies anywhere near, you get my miles girlfriend! :)

that was one of my favorite concert experiences ever

QOTSA + RATM, followed by the best mud party every... and some chick with perfect tits standing on the bar flashing

not sure how camping would work there but i'd like to give it a shot

i too was at that show....epic! I think it took us 2 hours to get from where we parked to the road but didn't give a shit cause everyone was having a fucking blast. Never had a bad time at alpine so it definitely gets my vote, esp. since i missed them there in 03 (god i love that boot). But i'll go wherever the fuck this party is at!

That show was downright dangerous too! I saw some guys literally rip a seat from the pavillion and start passing it around. Me and my crew were in the second to last rows of seats and were getting pelted with mud bombs the whole show too.

I thought QOTSA were awesome. RATM was good but a short "best of..." set was about all it was. They still sound great though.

Would Alpine Valley really be big enough for this 'bash?' The Gorge certainly wouldn't, PJ could sell out shows at either venue on a normal tour, nevermind their 20th anniversary. I would've thought they need a 50k+ venue, the bonaroo site sounds interesting. I hope it's Alpine valley though as I have a friend in Chicago.
    My PJ shows:
    London 28/10/96, Las Vegas 11/7/98, London 29/5/00, Nurnburg 11/6/00, Prague 14/6/00, Salzburg 18/6/00, Verona 20/6/00, Milan 22/6/00, Zurich 23/6/00, New York 8-9/7/03, Boston 11/7/03, Reading Festival 27/8/06, Shepards Bush 11/8/09, Berlin 15/8/09, Manchester 17/8/09, London 18/8/09, Dublin 22/6/10, Belfast 23/6/10, London (HRC) 25/6/10, Alpine Valley (PJ20) 3-4/9/11, Manchester 20-21/6/12, Leeds 8/7/14, Milton Keynes 11/7/14 To be continued....

    37K capacity... only 7500 seats

guess it depends on what this bash ends up being

i think the smaller and more intimate the better (assuming i can get tickets :) )

and i personally prefer the hill/amphitheater layout to a big grassy field in the middle of nowhere

If it was Alpine, I would hope it would be 3 nights with 22,500 (3 Day) tickets allocated to 10c. This way every 10c 3 day pass would get 1 night in the pavilion and 2 nights in the lawn.

I suppose my iphone 4 purchase will have to be put on hold to save for this.. wherever it may be, which is certainly nowhere near me.

I wonder how this would work. If the fan club allocated tickets based on membership number, I'm in trouble because I'm pretty sure with and event like this and all the club members streaming in from all over the US. I'll be somewhere towards the back!!! :(

I was there as well. I drank too much and decided to take the mud slick hill down to the first row of seats. I made it to the end on my feet (pure snowboarding skills), then when I got to the bottom, some chick was sliding down behind me and took me out!! I was completely covered in mud for the whole show, and it was awesome!!

This would be fantastic for me if it was at S.P.A.C. It's literally a 30 minute drive for me but this would never happen in a million years. It doesn't hold nearly enough people.

Interesting, Dave Matthews Band is also doing a 3 day fest "somewhere in the midwest" July 8-10. They have confirmed the dates, but not the location except that its in the midwest (www.dmband.com)

They have 4 of these fests, they just released the date of their East Coast and the Midwest should be released soon...Check out the line up for their east coast tour, pretty cool and I could see Pearl Jam headlining one or two nights =)

Of course, I prefer just a PJ show, but it could be interesting.

And by the way, I am a Pearl Jam fan!!! I still enjoy DMB, but my heart is always with PJ!

If they can get Dave to pound the kit for some of the earlier songs, I will shell out any amount of money to be there.

I was just watching some recent interviews from him and he is still such a cool dude.
