Yeah it's really good. I'm making myself only read it at night in bed so it will last longer. I read it in high school a million years ago and just remembered very small bits of the story so a lot of it is new to me."We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -

Just finished Sphere by Michael Crichton, not his best work but still very good.
Now I am reading Dexter by Design, the 4th book in that series.
After that it is going to be American Gods by Neil Gaiman
And going to re-read God Hates Us All by Hank Moody. This is a tie in book to the Showtime show Californication, not the best piece of literature but I read it and enjoyed the hell out of it.
Does anyone else keep a list of the books they read in a year? Started doing it last year. I read 35 I think last year, hoping to top that this year. I've read 7 so far.32 shows and counting...0 -

Yeah I started doing this maybe 2005 or 2006. I read Stephen King's column in EW where he ranked the best books of the year and he mentioned he reads 80 or so a year. I wanted to see how many I read so I started doing it. A couple of years into it my wife got into doing it and now we have a pretty heated competition to see who can read more! I think the most I've ever read is about 30. Last year was 26, about my average.
I'm at 9 so far this year."We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -
I started Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace some weeks ago. And it's really goodPlease, Pearl Jam, consider a Benaroya Hall vinyl reissue! http://community.pearljam.com/discussion/148993/please-pearl-jam-consider-a-vinyl-benaroya-hall-re-issue0

I keep a long list of books that I want to read and update it whenever I finish one, so it would be pretty easy. I'll have to check to see how many I've read so far this year."The stars are all connected to the brain."0 -

Yeah, thats what started me, my girlfriend kept a list, and I was like hmm I want to start one and see if I can beat her. She's kicking my ass this year so far, she has like 15 read I think.whoprincess wrote:I never thought about doing that but I like the idea. Do you count ones that you re-read?

I count books even if I have reread them. Last year my wife called it the year of the reread because she reread the Twilight and Harry Potter series."We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -

I started doing keeping a list a couple years ago. I write RR for the ones I re-read. Original, hunh?
I've read 6 this year, just finished Cutting for Stone. Really really lovely.0 -

I've posted this link before but this is a handy way to keep track of books: http://www.librarything.com/
I can keep track of several lists of books this way: To read, Favorites, Currently reading, Read but unowned. There's also places to put notes about different books. There's a message board too but I'm not really interested in that. Posters look like a bunch of snobby librarians. :ugeek:

WAAAAAAY better than the movie. There's a bit of a split between Kubrick and King over the treatment of the novel by Kubrick. The book is soooooo much scarier...1998-06-30 Minneapolis

"By Night In Chile" by Roberto Bolano
If you've never read Roberto Bolano, do so now. He died a few years ago and we lost a true genius. Start with "The Savage Detectives" and then read "2666." Awesome, awesome books...1998-06-30 Minneapolis
