Project #8 - The Whispers of War: Riot Act Live

okay, have listened to version 1 twice (will listen again tonight)
like i've said before, Riot Act is probably my least listened to PJ album. Affected my expectations of many of the songs.
I agree with most of what myra and tremors have already said
Get Right - like this one, but feel like there must be a rockier version. Similar to how I felt about God's Dice (or maybe it was something else) when we were doing the Binaural project.
Like tremors has already said, I Am Mine is another of the songs that I would probably want to have another search for.
I like the version of Can't Keep, I think it's cool. Like it a lot. First listen not so much, but second time round it sounded much better.
Cropduster - I think it's good. I know there were some sound issues with this, but I think it's good. But it isn't one of my favourites at all, by a mile. So can't really give it proper critique, had quite low expectations if i'm honest :oops:But I like it
Ghost, Help Help and You Are are very good IMO Loved them, specially Help Help - another Riot Act song that I wasn't the most keen on I guess. this project has definitely opened my ears and mind towards Riot Act, some songs have really shined and sound great. Save You is good too, one of my favourites probably because it's one of the more upbeat rockier songs if you get me
as to the bonus tracks, they are cool. Wasn't familiar with "I Won't Back Down" so I'm glad that I got to hear it. they sounded great to me - but I'm not familiar with some of the covers that PJ do so I'm not the most helpful with songs like that. But I liked the ones we had
I will give it another listen and give you some more feedback, but to be honest apart from Get Right (which I think that we all agree on) and I Am Mine, I think the rest are A-oK0 -
Been listening to more versions of Get Right to replace my Mansfield 1 suggestion.
I liked Toronto too, but check out Bonner Springs 12/06! Ed's vocals aren't as hot, but Mike is on fire, which the song needs!0 -
Sounds like focusing in on Get Right and I am Mine would make sense then - I really enjoyed the collection - I enjoyed Cropduster and Can't Keep a lot - I was just wondering if they could be made even better.
I am happy with us trying to improve these two songs primarily though.
Sorry, just got off a long phonecall, and am shattered now - but should have plenty of energy tomorrow to assist with the quest for I am Mine and Get Right!Cancel my subscription to the Ressurection

Agreed ! That's what we're looking for I reckon. Some twist somewhere along the way, not just a clean live record version ! I think Oklahoma City (04/03) does the trick too. But good call on Bonner Springs !0 -

Sounds promisingThanks peeps
I just listened to the bonus tracks as a segment   Really enjoyed those - I think that is the best bonus section we have had in our collections - and it really does good in meeting one of our aims of capturing the spirit of a tour. Good stuff all round I thinkCancel my subscription to the Ressurection

I Am Mine!!! Tricky one this one as alot of the lyrics are repeated and so Ed often gets them mixed up, but if you listen to versions after April 2003, even up to the present, he always ends the song with "We're safe tonight."
This isn't the lyric. AND, it's quite an important ending to the song I feel.
It should end with...
All the innocents lost at one time
We're all different behind the eyes
There's no need to hide
Can we use Showbox DVD version 2002??0 -

I still a tie between those two and Toronto for me at the moment. I'm trying to narrow it down. I'm close to putting aside Oklahoma City, but I tend to feel that the vocal part is better than that of Bonner Springs. Not sure yet. Toronto stays in finals.
I'm almost there ...0 -
OK, 2002 out.
The best I Am Mine that I've found that I'm happy with, is Adelaide 16/02, but we have Give Peace A Chance from that show.
The song just doesn't feel as uplifting live, and early in the tour, there are plenty of guitar errors.0 -

Oklahoma City - Like it. Sounds tight, upbeat, nice start. Great solo as usual
Bonner Springs - sounds good. As Dazzler said, Mike is definitely on fire. I prefer his solo in Oklahoma City more though
for me, Oklahoma is just that bit better than Bonner Springs. Mike is great in both, Ed's vocals seem stronger in Oklahoma City, but that could just be me.0 -
Get Right -
Toronto 06-28? Listening to that now0 -

Ahah! No, that's not just you, the vocals are indeed stronger in Oklahoma City. I thought the solo was better in Bonner Springs though.
Have you listened to Toronto ?0 -

listened to them both again, agree that Bonner Springs has an effin great soloCleaner finish as well I noticed, Oklahoma is a bit of a messier cut off IMO Those two versions are great though
listening to Toronto for the second time, vocals appear stronger than Bonner Springs, and maybe Oklahoma City too. Solo is definitely cool as well, I like it. But to me this version doesn't seem as great as Bonner Springs or Oklahoma City. They sound more upbeat energetic to me, but I'll listen again0 -

Yeah, somehow Toronto is more balanced yet less 'special' too. So eventually, I think I've moved on to an Oklahoma City / Bonner Springs finals. Here we go again ....0 -

yeah, that's the same for me
Oklahoma City/Bonner Springs
Oklahoma - stronger vocals, tighter start IMO
Bonner Springs - equally as good or slightly better guitar solo, cleaner ending.
which one do we go with?
on another note:
Just listened again to the Green Disease we have already got -- it's very good, I love it. Just wanted to point that out
and You Are is just fabulous
Really warming up to this project, opened my eyes to many RA songs I normally don't listen to as much
Help Help now, love it0 -

I think I'm tending towards Bonner Springs eventually. A bit 'wilder' IMO and a cleaner ending indeed. I'd say we go with that one.0 -
